We were never greeted and stood at the shoe display waiting to try on shoes while we watch employees behind the counter just talking to each other and another group at the fitting room laughing and never offered to help they made eye contact and went on back to talking. The security guard followed my kids around the outlets until I got there and told me Mountain High Outfitters had them on video stealing something and they were going to prosecute. I allowed the security guard to check all receipts and look through all bags. He found no evidence of theft. The security guard escorted me and the kids back to the store at which time I looked at the security footage. My son (mixed race) entered the building and she showed me him exiting the building and looked back at my other son and left. That was what she based her assumption that he had stolen something on. I told her it was because he was black that she was accusatory. She replied, "I knew you would say that". He did not steal from this store and the footage shows that as well as the security guard going through all of our bags. Racist.

I came in excited to look around and potentially make a purchase, but the customer service completely ruined the visit. I asked what I believed was a very normal and reasonable question about one of the products, and instead of receiving a helpful answer, the employee I spoke with immediately seemed irritated and annoyed that I had even asked. Her tone was rude and dismissive from the start, and she made me feel like I was inconveniencing her simply by trying to get information about something the store sells. As a customer, I don't think it's unreasonable to ask questions before making a purchase, especially in a specialty shop where people may not know every detail about the products. Rather than helping me understand what I was looking at, she responded with visible frustration and an attitude that made me feel unwelcome. What bothered me most was how unnecessary the interaction felt. I was polite throughout the conversation and wasn't demanding or difficult in any way. I simply wanted assistance, which is one of the basic expectations when visiting a retail store. Instead, I felt like I was being talked down to and treated as though my question was stupid or not worth answering. Customer service can make or break a business, and unfortunately this experience left a very negative impression. A surf shop should be a welcoming place where people of all experience levels feel comfortable asking questions and learning more about the sport and equipment. Instead, I left feeling frustrated, embarrassed, and unlikely to return. I hope management takes customer interactions seriously and reminds employees that a little patience and respect go a long way. One rude interaction can easily drive away customers, and based on my experience, there is definitely room for improvement in how customers are treated here. They each picked a new toy (yup, we spent over $100. on that little bit of spoiling!), when we were paying the person checking out our order asked us if we would like to buy a plastic Disney bag to put our purchases in? I said no thank you that I would take a regular bag. I was informed that "sorry, Disney is being 'green' and doesn't do plastic". Really? You were ready to sell me a plastic bag. So I asked if they had paper ones? Nope. They only have plastic ones to buy. So, we had to carry our purchases around the outlet mall...until we went to the Nike store. Nike store graciously offered us a shopping bag to carry our purchases. I personally can't stand when companies claim to be 'green', but it's all a show.
