We used our AAA discount. Exhibits include a "pet vet," music space, big fire truck, library, exercise room and market. My one critique would be for the market to be better stocked/ restocked periodically. We go to a local museum where the kid's market closes a few times a day for them to "reset." This could have used a "reset." Overall it was a lot of fun!

Park is not covered so depending on time of day, the sun beats down intensely. Picnic tables are accessible, drinking fountain is also available as well as a spot to refill your water bottle. They have a small area to exercise on the metal bars provided. Two porta potties on site. The side trail is somewhat overgrown now covering some of the path, luckily there are plenty of branches that can be used as a walking stick to move the overgrown shrubs out of the way.

I toured the park on an early evening during the week. I am looking to host an event here soon and figured I'd check it out first before reserving. One must contact Parks & Rec to reserve the shelters located here. There is a huge shelter towards the back of the park that looks to be perfect for a party size of 100 or less. The park is beautiful. There is a body of water in which one can sit or stand and enjoy the views. Super quiet and I love it. There is also an area in which one can exercise by following the posted exercises in a sand pit. I love this feature! There is a playground for the younger and older children. Swings are even featured here! I love the swings :) This park isn't super huge but I think it's a great size and you are lucky if you are the only one renting a shelter... it's small enough to feature an intimate setting... like a private party but you only rented one shelter. Parking seems decent. I think 20 cars can fit into the parking lot without worry but if more start to show up, this could be a problem. I am not sure if overflow parking is nearby. There is a narrow street leading to the park so one may be able to park on one side of the street... if not...not sure what the back up plan is. I'd say there are plenty of trees at this park so shaded areas are definitely present. At least one grill is located near each of the three shelters. I'd recommend you visit this hidden jewel in Chesapeake. I'm looking forward to returning soon. Have fun and enjoy life :)

The horses are well cared for, and the farm has a peaceful, welcoming atmosphere. We will definitely be going back. One thing worth noting is that the ranch could use more diversity. The quality of instruction is is great, the representation matters especially for kids. Overall, Grubb Grove Farms is a great place to learn and build confidence around horses. We had a positive experience and look forward to returning.

At the time she was quite new to horseback riding and had only ridden a few times before along with a few other kids in the camp, according to her everyone was nice but I think it was a little advanced for a beginner class considering that they asked kids who had never ridden before to trot on the 3rd day. Overall I think it would be a great camp for riders with some experience but if you're not comfortable with taking things quickly and haven't been riding for a while don't go here! Also, DO NOT wear a bike helmet it's not safe to do!

The location is very easy to get to from the Norfolk area. They have parking available but be very careful where you park. They do tow and they have signs displayed everywhere. You can also ride the ferry at this location on high street which is about a block away. There is a small fee for riding on the ferry. They accept cash only. The yacht we were on was so lovely. Had everything you could possibly need to stay overnight. Or longer. You get a chance to see all the boats docked nearby and the water was very calm. Would definitely enjoy returning if invited. I hope to be invited again real soon.

This neighborhood art event happens every year twice per year - once in May and once again in…read moreOctober for a weekend filled with art, food, and music. A few years ago I went to the May festival and yesterday enjoyed it on a beautiful and sunny October day with perfect weather and a light breeze. There are so many artists here and so many interesting items to see. It spans the entire three sections of Stockley Gardens in the middle of the neighborhood near The Hague St. Luke's Episcopal Church. There are some food vendors (I saw around 6) and there are several scheduled bands that play live music so you can make a nice couple hours out of enjoying this. It gets pretty crowded as locals really love it. This is not your typical art show - there are some pretty high-end pieces here that go for upwards of $20,000 and the majority of the larger art pieces are no less than $1000 minimum but most are much more. I saw some jewelry, stained glass and glass art, pottery, and tons and tons of canvas and other mixed medium art pieces with a real range of talent and innovative techniques I haven't seen before. Artists travel from all over the US to participate in this event and there are tons of vendors here so it's worth an afternoon visit. It's a short walk to Colley so you can make a complete afternoon in Ghent out of it and walk around, enjoy the Hague, shop on Colley and even have dinner or coffee. Parking is a bit of a challenge if you want to be very nearby - but if you can park and walk a few blocks you should be fine finding something in one of the nearby neighborhoods.
