I am a frequent customer of Spee-Dee automotive shops; however, I received great service at this facility. I had the opportunity to receive above and beyond assistance from Uriel. I went in for an oil change and issues with my signal light. The oil change was completed quickly; unfortunately, they did not carry the part to correct the issue with the signal light for my Kia. Uriel provided assistance with identifying the issue with the signal light and provided recommendations where to purchase the replacement part. He took the extra time to show me the problem as well as the extra effort to remove the defective part so I would have the part available to order the replacement. I have been to this Speedy location (Capitol Expressway & Aborn) for years.. Service had been good and reliable... However, not in 2016!!! The first time I stopped by for regular oil service... was in April, 2016. As usually, the normal 17 points service checks oil change, fluids top off including interior vacuum and windows cleaning for $39.90... Well... no interior vacuum, nor windows cleaning... tires pressure was under on one of the four... I gave them the benefits of the doubt that the technician might be new and forgot... However returning again in Dec 2016... This time waited for over an hour! I was in hurry... So I declined the transmission fluid change recommendations... To my surprise, it only take less than 20 to finish everything... Paid for the service... and surprised!!! No windows cleaning, no interior vacuum... they didn't even replace the reminder sticker on the windshield..... I wonder if they even completed the 17 points checks or top off other fluids... it looked as though they only change oil... They had turned into a very deceptive service... No more with this place... I hope that the mishap was only with my car... Verify yours next time you stop by.... read more

Fastest service there is! Ask for Jay and he'll take care of ya! I was at work about 5:05pm and two of my coworkers said there is some green fluid coming out of my van. I came out and it looked like the Nile river. It was leaking radiant fluid. So, I drove down the ways to SpeeDee and pulled up about 5:20pm, and they close at 6pm. Snapples! I came here last weekend for an oil change with a $29 oil change coupon. I was told I needed my coolant pumped, my power steering fluid changed, and my air filter changed. I told the guy I would get it done later or with someone else. When he rang me up for my oil change it came out to about $40. The guy told me it's because my truck needed extra oil. I was fine with that because I know my truck is big. Well today I went to get everything he mentioned done at a shop and was told there was barely any oil and my air filter was fine so why did I pay extra for oil if they barely put any in my truck. I won't be going back. I could've got my oil changed somewhere else for the same price if not cheaper with the extra oil my truck needs. read more

Came in for an oil change to my 2005 Camry. There was no line and they were just done servicing a few cars. The mechanic told me it was going to take about 35 mins to do a regular oil change. I was out of there in like 25. Great staff, great service. My family has been taking our cars here for years without too much complaint. I don't know how well they are with other services but if you just need a quick oil change on a random Friday afternoon, this might be a good place to check out. read more

Been coming to both this location and the one in Milpitas for the last couple years for routine oil changes. This last time pissed me off. They took forever without a huge line, like they even finished the oil change and just started hanging out! I knew they were done because my hood was closed lol. Also, the woman at the counter wasn't very knowledgeable and quite rude, and they tried to get me to change a belt that was in perfectly good shape. My husband knows cars and decided to ask him how much it would cost to fix the belt. The guy replies, "It's usually $180 bucks but since we're slow today I'll do it for only $150." Okay, so you're clearly just out to get business, no thanks. Went to my mechanic the next week and the belt is fine. Oh and they over filled 3 of my tires and didn't even top off my coolant. read more

Came in around 10:30 this morning and considering that my car had a mileage of over 100,000, I opted for the high mileage oil change. The technician who assessed my car took in my car immediately and said that the oil change would take around 30 minutes. As mentioned in a previous review, this Midas branch is situated in a location ideal for killing time. Even before the 30 minute mark, I get a call from the technician telling me that the oil change was done and for me to head back to be informed about some assessments they made with the car. The technician revealed some problematic items that had to be addressed, but was not in any way pushing the issue. The staff and crew are friendly, helpful, and courteous. Came in for an oil change for my 2010 Honda Accord. I usually get coupons for SpeeDee-Midas so I thought it would make good use of them, especially since I really needed the oil change. Drove up and a mechanic was able to get my info and told me how long it was going to take. After the oil change was completed, the mechanic also informed me I needed to flush my engine which I went with since my car was here already. Whole thing took about hour. Everyone was nice and professional. Today was good since it was a Monday and there wasn't a long line of cars to deal with. I'll definitely come back for future oil changes, but only when it's not too busy. read more

I came here for an oil change and the service was very quick. I didn't have to wait long for somebody to come to my car and the whole time spent there was at most just 30 minutes. They even changed my air filter for me and the friendly clerk gave me a $10 discount! Definitely come here in the morning however, it tends to get a little busy starting noon. Got there at 930 am on Sunday for Smog check. They were done within 30 mins. Fast, efficient, courteous.

Paid $60 for a smog test and ended up failing. Came back a couple weeks later and they made me wait over 30 minutes to do my smog. Passed smog and charged me an extra $30 on top of what I already paid for on the first smog test... was really upset and just wanted to leave already. Would not recommend to come here for a smog or any other services. read more

I drove up to oil change lane and I was quickly greeted. The girl in the front office was extremely nice and very welcoming. However, the quality of service was not very pleasing. The service said it came with a 17 point inspection front and rear window cleaning service, vacuumed floor boards, topped off fluids, check and balance tire pressure, etc. When I got home I realized none of that was done. I checked my air filter and it was really dirty. The technician never recommended to change it because he never checked it. So, I changed the air filter myself. Then I noticed none of my fluids we're topped off either. I called the establishment back and asked if all those things were included or was it a courtesy if they had time. The technician immediately got on the phone and said "oh, yeah, I'm sorry, I don't know why I didn't do it, I just didn't think about it." My paper work said my tires were inflated to 35/35 front and rear but my dash settings said they were, 32, 33,38 and 32. Which means that wasn't done either. After reading my invoice I saw a part that said I refused the tire service because I filled the tires myself, which is NOT true. I paid $102.52 and didn't receive any of the services listed besides an oil change. I will not be returning to this establishment purely because of the technicians work ethic. The answer to my question was pretty much like a "yeah, I didn't do it sorry, don't know why I didn't" isn't a good enough answer for me to return. read more

After dropping my car off this morning at pep boys where I had no appointment scheduled but was told they would try to squeeze it in after 5 hours Past I decided to pick it up and try some where else to get my oil changed. Then to my surprise Midas calls me tells me to come right down which I did. I was very pleased with the service I received, friendly technician and receptionist, welcoming atmosphere got my oil change and tires rotated. Definitely coming back in the future. read more

Horrible service. Left my car there for a smog check early this morning. One car was ahead of me and was told about one and half hours. Okay fair enough. Its nearby my house and next to a Starbucks so i waited, AND waited, and waited... almost two and a half hours pass so i decide to pass by and see how my car is doing. She's in the same position i left her. I go to the front desk. Some guy is sitting there writing papers and never acknowledges me. I have to interrupt him to please check on my car to see how much longer it'll be. He goes out for a few minutes, comes back then says the smog machine broke down. Shocked, I'm like why didn't anyone call me? How long has it been down? He doesn't know, estimates 30 mins or so but i believe it has been way longer. Pissed off i tell him I'm taking my car elsewhere. You guys who i normally come for all other services, don't have the decency to let me know the wait is going to be longer. Goodbye SpeeDee. Went today for an oil change. Fast & hassle free. The plaza has different stores you can hang out in if needed, there is also a wait area inside. The employees did not try to tell me my car had anything wrong with it as other reviews on here have mentioned. My car takes synthetic blend oil so the coupon on Yelp helped me save $10 from my total. Not a bad deal. Will definitely come back! read more

Five stars is nottttt enough... Hands down- the customer service at SpeeDee-Midas is off the hook. Manager, Jay, completely exceeds any level of expectation when it comes to going above and beyond making his customers happy. A couple of months ago, I got new front tires from Jay and his crew. Since it would take a little over an hour (which wasn't that bad at all), he offered to drop me off at my home nearby... and return to pick me up once the tires were all mounted. After the job was completed, Jay informed that I would need rear tires soon. However, he wasn't pushing me to make an additional purchase that day, because there was a little life left in them. For the fronts, he even gave me a small discount, and hey- every penny saved counts; I appreciated that. I returned two months later to get the rear tires and I received the same excellent service. In passing, I happened to mentioned to Jay that the battery on my Harley died. He was so kind, and without hesitation, offered to let me borrow his own personal battery charger. I'm not saying that you all should hit him up for his equipment- go buy your own like I eventually did... LOL. It's just that I was in a pinch at the moment, and he hooked me up. Who does that? Got my car towed in on a Sunday evening as it wouldn't start. It turned out to be very costly to just change the alternator. And it took them the whole Monday even-though they promised to finish it before 10 AM. And no status updates...I had to call in multiple times to check what's going on. Recntly I had my brakes repaired at Midas. Jay, the manger, ensured the work was done properly and what I could not afford at the time, he explained what needed to be done in order for the truck to brake efficiiently. Jay and the staff replaced both front calipers and flushed the brake system. My rear brake durms needed repair also but I could not afford it at the time. The staff adjusted the system to work as best as possible unitl I could afford to repair the rear brake drums. Jay has made this Midas shop a Community friendly auto shop where you can go and be given the truth about you car/ruck. As a comsumer, I appriciated a place that thrives on honesty. Today I went in for a routine oil change. Was not really expecting much but during the wait, one of the Technician (Donald) came in and gave me some really good preventive maintenance advise. I thought that was cool that he did not have a sales pitch and come off as pushy about getting the services done right then. I really appreciated that he even suggested to change the oil type I should be using on such a car. I was thinking to myself ok seems like they care.. Well 2 hours later after running a couple of errands and was ready to drop the car off, I noticed that the hood was not closed all the way (well passenger side). I thought I may have accidentally pulled the release latch. So I try to open it but noticed it was closed but only on the one side and could not be pushed all the way down. I used the hood release latch and then it opened. And WTF do I see, the coolant reservoir cap was not even closed it was just about to fall off if not for the hose inside the cap holding it in place. Again WTF the air filter cover was not on correctly which is why the hood would not shut all the way down.. It looks like they checked the air filter but did not put the air filter back on correctly or even tried to secure the cover as all 4 secure latch for the air filter cover was still in the open position. I should have learned from previous experience from this place a couple of years ago. About 8 - 10 years ago I also service one of our car (Lexus LS 400) here until one of the Tech put the wrong drain plug back and damaged the pan. Lucky the manager at the time was kind enough to acknowledge the mistake and took care of the repair. Still it left a bad impression and did not return for future services.. Since then I had not gone back till this year, since it is conveniently located to the place i frequently run errands. What a mistake, I guess it's back to the other shop.. read more

So we went in on a Saturday to get a coolant flush done by Donald, he told us that our coolant light would take a few days to turn off in a few days. BULLSHIT. We woke up a day later and our coolant take was COMPLETELY EMPTY. So of course we took our car back after of course having to buy new coolant which was not cheap. We went back to CURTIS who was amazing. He went and redid the whole flush for free. And what do u know, our light went off. I only recommend Curtis he's super nice and good at his job. Only getting 3 stars to because it was a hassle having to go and comeback twice. read more

Way overdue post. I had gone in for an oil change. I ended up getting a few fluids flushed. I knew it was time. Within a week I noticed all of my coolant had leaked out. I wasn't sure what was going on. I took the car back since I had just flushed the fluids and wondered if maybe something was wrong on their end. The manager, Uriel Chavez, went above and beyond trying to solve the problem. Turns out it was part of a hose. He had a worker go get the part, replace it and sent me on my way. He decided to tell me exactly what was wrong with my car out loud in front of everybody in there and then walked me out to my car and showed me a oil everywhere on my engine. even though I looked under my hood before I went over to them. One star is too much...The wrong oil filter was installed on my truck. This caused my vehicle's engine to seize up. We didn't know what was happening to our truck so we took it to our dealer for repair and they informed us that Speedee installed an oil filter for a smaller vehicle. Metal fragments were found in the oil filter and engine. We informed SpeeDee but they offered to have the truck towed to their shop and take care of the repair themselves. We are not confident to have Speedee do this job since they could not manage to get an oil filter changed properly. Plus we wonder if engine installation is even a task they are certified to do. The repair estimate from our dealer is $8772.99 for engine/supporting parts gaskets/labor. Speedee said if we want to have our dealer do the repair they would only pay $4000. I asked for a report from SpeeDee's insurance assessor that they sent to the dealer to inspect the vehicle but they would not provide their assessor's estimate. The dealer and I also asked for their insurance agent's contact information but they would not provide that info either. I wonder if they even contacted their insurance agent or if the so called assessor was really the owner trying to avoid a claim against his insurance. We are disappointed we were only offered $4000 because that means we will be putting more of our own money than Speedee in for a repair that should have never have happened read more
