I just received my new aftermarket exhaust and needed to install somewhere. SpeedElement over the phone offered a great price and they looked like a good place due to all the sport cars that stop here. I arrived and they were really nice, the waiting room had a comfortable couch, free wifi, and lots of magazines. It only look 45 min for them to do the job and they were kind enough to ask me about my old exhaust of what to do with it. I had a nice chat with the worker on future modifications and they were really into helping me out with any requests I had. I'll definitely come back here again if I have new things I'd like to install! read more

Just got my catless downpipes installed at Speed Element, and they did it in a very timely and professional manner. The staff there are very friendly, and after drooling over the nice cars that were parked outside, the waiting room inside kept me busy until my car was finished. The tech ran into a small tight fitment problems, and they stopped to make sure I knew exactly what was going on. I will definitely be back in the near future to get walnut blasting done for my car. Thanks again guys! read more

If you are in the bay area and into tuner cars, you've probably heard about Speed Element before. They have a pretty good reputation - which is why I brought my Mazdaspeed 3 in to have several things (Fuel pump internals, Exhaust, etc.) installed, almost all of which went off with no problem. I will however, talk about the ONE issue I did have, and more importantly, how Jason, Alec, and Ryan responded to it. Basically brought in some Swift lowering springs to be put in, which were completed in a timely fashion. However after driving home I noticed some strange grinding/clunking sounds which I was hoping (optimistically) would go away after some spring settling. Unfortunately after 2 weeks, the sound was still there and I let Jason know, who immediately scheduled to bring me in to fix the issue. While there, I had some other work done and a new mechanic, Jonathon, was able to take a look at the install and figure out that the front springs needed to be reinstalled. Unfortunately they ran out of time that day and so I had to come back again for a third time, which they generously scheduled a large time slot in for me to get my work completed. Sounds like a frustrating experience so far, right? Well, it really wasn't because of how it was handled. My car was brought in again and properly diagnosed by Jonathon. Ryan let me know that I had to have 2 components replaced which were done at no additional charge to me. The fix took the greater part of a WHOLE day but the most important thing to me was that they made sure to get the installation right and Jonathon wouldn't let me leave until he was sure that the issue was fixed (it was, and the car drives soooo smooth now). Look, things go wrong in any service industry. That's just how it is. But it's how it is dealt with that measures the true standards of your company. Jason stated that they stand by their work and true to their word, they definitely did in my case. Big ups to the whole crew at Speed Element, and especially my mechanic Jonathon. read more

I brought my old MBZ diesel to them to get it lowered. This was my first car I have owned (since 98) so there is some sentimental value to it and I don't let to many people work on it. I have always wanted to lower it and it took me 15 years to pull the trigger on it. When I dropped it off I told Devin to "make it look good" and him and his team delivered perfectly. I have fallen in love with my old car all over again in turn. After not finding someone I could trust enough to do the work on my car for so long it was nice to be able to trust a shop with my old euro. read more

I came here after being recommended by an old friend who runs a the business next door because i was looking to get my new coilovers installed along with camber kits. I was looking around at a few places including a few local shops I normally go to and decided on speed element because I wanted a performance shop versus your general auto shop. I connected with Devin over messages here on yelp and he was kind enough to take me by appointment on a Saturday which is dope! I had Tein's new lower end coilovers installed but I did not like them and my alignment was off so I got some Ksport's and SPC camber kits and wanted them done right and I've seen the work they've done on cars.Unlike other shops that will just install and get you on your way he went in depth asking me my preferred ride height, how stiff or soft I wanted my ride, alignment, etc. and recommended some settings as well. I was happy with the price he charged and didn't really mind it because I've seen the work they do and after getting my car back (about 6 hours) it was worth every bit. He even offered to realign the my car if it felt off after a couple days and so far (it's been 5 days) it's going well. If you're reading this Devin I just wanted to say thanks to you and your team for working on my car! I'm loving it! read more

Wow where to begin? I bought my 2003 showroom Evo 8 with only 9 miles on it. It was my escape from the hectic daily valley life. Comes 2018, 15 years later, still have it and drive it. Along the way Speed Element upgraded my brakes, clutch and flywheel, it was flawless work. Finally I decided to turn it into a project car, so first up, FULL engine build! I want to do it right. Devin and the rest of SpeedElement crew are just hands down the most awesome and knowledgeable guys! They know Evo and Sti better than they know their wives (j/k). Devin knew way more about what I wanted and needed! They dedicated tremendous time to help me understand what's needed, why etc. And the many weeks Codi and team spent building my engine, getting my HKS exhaust from Japan, gauges, cams, pistons, crank, all the parts for a new engine, intercooler pipe, this pipe that pipe. And comes Feb 2019, after breaking it in, Gary worked his COBB tuning magic, and now I am driving a 400hp on 91oct gas Evo with lower gears that scare me (in a good way). Just want to say THANK YOU to SpeedElement crew, Devin, Codi and Gary especially! Next up: Ohlins :-P You guys want to tune my Q7 too? J/K. read more

First of all, I would like to shout out Devin, Jason and Codi for working with me through my car troubles! I came to Speed Element in December to have them diagnose what I believed to be rod knock on my motor. Sure enough it was knocking and Devin ran me through my options. I ended up opting for a complete rebuild of the motor with slightly upgraded internals. Devin guided me throughout the build and recommended parts I should purchase to prolong the life of my motor. He didn't just recommend them either, he explained why he recommended them and even threw in a couple of his past customer experiences with them. He didn't just want to sell me on another part, he just wanted to see the car in healthy working condition. I was quoted during my first visit and Devin told me he would periodically contact me to update me during the build and if there were any problems. I expected there to be more problems with my car and there definitely was, I was prepared for that. Devin took the time out of his day to talk to me on the phone and asked me what I wanted to do. When my block was at the machine shop he also updated me on how far along it was. Throughout each stage of the build, I was contacted by Devin. When the car was completed Devin stated that he would keep the car for an extra day to drive it around and ensure everything was in complete working condition. That made me feel so much better as a customer because the previous shop that I had build my motor didn't do that (or even update me on how the build is going for that matter). I like that SE cares about their customers, A+++ My total bill was higher than the original quote, but I expected that. My car wasn't exactly the healthiest, but I knew SE would take care of me and make things in working/healthy condition again. I know some of the previous reviews stated that their builds took a while, but I understood that this is a high traffic shop and customers are always returning for something to be built or installed. I have faith in SE which is why I chose them for my build. Loyal customer since 2008 and I will definitely be returning for my car needs. Thanks again Devin and Jason for dealing with my headaches and Codi for building my motor. Thank you Speed Element for getting my car back on the road, you'll be seeing me soon. -Yellow Subie read more

First and foremost i would like to give a shout out to the amazing workers at Speed Elements. Cody and Jason are remarkable mechanics, not to mention knowledgable. Been here about 3-4 times and every time they fixed my car, no problem. The owner Devin is incredibly nice and will give you his best judgement when it comes to determining what's best. Would recommend to EVERYONE. Cheers read more

I had the lowering springs and roll center adjusters installed at Speed Element. The price was fair and the quality was 5 star! Excellent! I do recommend Speed Element to people, who are looking for a shop specializing in Evo! They do care about customer experience as well. read more

Horrible experience ordered a lip online for my BMW 335 received the item and it didn't fit on the car even though I told them exactly what car I had. Contacted them to let them know the lip wasn't right and they told me I could ship the item back minus a 35% restocking fee even though the item was still brand new and never installed. After about a week later they messaged me again and told me that the lip I was looking for was out of stock and that it was past the 5 day return window now even though I had contacted them and waiting to get a response back. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE I WOULD NEVER BUY AGAIN !! read more

I worked as the account manager for GReddy for two years before moving back to Northern California. I needed some more power for my Evo 9 so I ask for assistance from Speed Element. I was treated like family from the beginning. My Evo had low compression and I worked with Devin on my different options. Ended up with a full head build and a tune from Gary Baines. Devin kept me updated every step of the build. I am super happy with how she runs and currently looking at a bigger turbo to go back for a retune! THANK YOU SPEED ELEMENT! read more

Very good experience with these guys thus far. They have held their appointments, finished in the time they estimated and charged what they said they would be charging, at a very reasonable hourly rate to boot. This is a late review, but I wanted to make sure nothing was wrong with my car before writing this (in case I had to take the car back). So here it goes: I dropped off my 350z on 08/18/2014 to potentially remove some performance parts that were installed on the car. About a week later I was told by one of the service writers (Also named Ryan) that the work would take 16 hours and would be done within two business days after the shop started on my car. I authorized them to make the repairs shortly after the quote. Fast forward to 01/16/15, Speed Element still had my car and states a new excuse every time I call for an update. Yes, my car has been sitting there for 5 months, I have never received a phone call from the shop letting me know the progress on the repairs. I called Speed Element on 01/12/14 and Ryan stated that my car was completed and ready for pick up. I went to pick up the car on 01/13/14 and found my car to be no where near driving condition. Ryan was not there, but another service writer named Jason apologized for the mis-communication and promised a Technician would work on the car on 01/15 to 01/16 to complete the work by the weekend. I called the shop on 01/16 to make sure my car was on schedule and Jason said his Technician got hurt on 01/15 and couldn't work on the car. I am paying $120 a month for insurance on my car just to have it sit at their shop. I am already out $600 paying insurance on a repair that was originally quoted two business days. 5 months is a very unreasonable amount of time and Speed Element was still no where near being finished. A few days later my car is finally ready for pick up. Initial quote on the work was $1600. When I go into the office to pay they hit me with a $2400 invoice!?!?! They stated that it took longer than expected. It sure did take longer, it took what you stated 2 days, nearly 6 months to complete?!?! During the entire duration you never called to say, "Hey, this is gonna be more work that first quoted, do you authorize this additional labor?" Needless to say, I will not be coming back here. read more

Came here for a Mechanical Boost Gauge Install back in October. They charged me $100 flat for the install. After 3 weeks the gauge stopped picking up boost. Took my car back to these guys, after inspection, they said that there was nothing wrong with the vacuum lines, that the gauge was faulty. Got a replacement from GlowShift despite them claiming that the original gauge worked. Took the new gauge to Tech3 and they said that the vacuum line was faulty. Sure enough they were right. He showed me 2 sources that vacuum is picked up from back the extension from the T that Speed Element worked on has as leak/faulty. Tech3 then connected a vacuum line from another source to show that the gauge was working. Don't go to these guys. read more

I was looking around for a reliable place to get a tranny and differential flush. After being quoted close to $300 at GST, I decided to give speed element a call and was greeted by Devin explaining to me the differences in fluid type and gave me a quote for half the price. Thank you Devin. Definitely coming back to you guys for the axle service!! read more

My GPS points me to the wrong location, those but you can easily find them on Rogers with all the nice colorful cars parked out front. I made an appointment with Tom to get my coilovers installed and he was quite courteous over the phone. Their scheduling is a bit tight but usually they can squeeze you in. When I arrived there were a few other guys waiting in the waiting room for their cars. They were running a little behind, but insured me that my car would be done today. I did not purchase my coilovers from them so i can not comment on their product pricing, but i'm sure theyre competitve. The lobby area is quite neat - with a flat screen tv that you can watch movies on. Apart from all the magazine spreads on the walls and trophies for you to admire, they have a wide variety of automobile magazines on the table for you to pass time. Wifi is free for guests so bring your laptops or ipad if you need to do work. For those that just want to relax - they have a beautifully designed saltwater and freshwater tank for you to view as well. anyhow - after some time, they finished the coilover install and took me on a few test drives to see how i like it. the tech even assisted me with some of the height adustmnent and made sure i liked the ride height. for those that are afraid of rubbing your wheels due to your agressive fitment - Speedelement does fender rolling too. cheers. read more

The staff was nice and direct, had my car in and out within about an hour for an alignment. However for being a shop with lots of enthusiast racers and drifters I was surprised that they don't let customers into the shop space to observe. I had an alignment done here and I found my steering rack boots twisted up and torn after the alignment. The steering rack was brand new. Bummer. Exactly why I like watching people work on my car. 2 stars for being nice but I was expecting it to be a clean job, otherwise I'd take my car to any old Goodyear place for $60. read more

I was recommended by a good friend to come here and get the AC in my car checked out. Dragged my boyfriend as well since his car had been blowing hot air long for far too long. Very professional and straightforward employees that gave me a good sense of what to expect in terms of cost, wait time, and the entire process of what they were going to do to troubleshoot the AC to maximize its performance and save me from the impending heat wave. Everything was done in exactly the time frame they told me. Not only did they find the problem and fix it, they also went above and beyond to double check my boyfriend's tire pressures because they saw it was low. Not even part of what we came for but much appreciated that they took the time to be so thorough and helpful. I'd recommend anyone to come here and get their car taken car of because of the excellent service and the obvious dedication they have to their craft! read more
