They did my 60k maintenance plus other modifications for an amazing price and they even offered me oem to performance options on all the fluids they change throughout the car. I was having an issue with a check engine light that would come on and go away randomly in my '15 WRX. I had some tests/diagnostic done by my mechanic in the 209 and everything looked normal. Without digging deeper in the engine and taking things apart and being more costly they suggested Walnut Blasting. I had no idea this even existed and was something needing to be done to keep my car running in tip top shape. So I'm super grateful for my guys!! My mechanic unfortunately doesn't have the right equipment to perform Walnut Blasting so they suggested my best bet would be finding a place in the Bay Area. After making a few calls and getting a referral from another shop that only services BMW's I decided to go with Speed Element and am not disappointed. Just want to thank Brian for his help. The appointment process was easy. He sent me an estimate via email and I got an appointment set up after making my deposit. Appointment day comes and check in went smooth and I even let him know I was having a check engine light issue but he didn't have to worry about it since my mechanic checked it out. He checked the light code anyways and let me know it was a misfire upon pick up. Totally didn't have to do that but it was appreciated! I went to pick my car up and check out was a smooth process. Brian showed me before and after pics and even sent them to my email. I am sooo happy with the difference in the way she drives after getting the Walnut Blasting done!! The mechanics also pointed out the things that will need to be changed in order for the car to work probably. The employees were all very condescending and rude. They made me wait 50 minutes for my 4:00 pm appointmentthat I made a week prior. When I was finally let in at 4:50 the guy running the dyno didn't interact with me very much and just was in a rush toe out and done. I had paid for 3 base line dyno runs but he only gave me 2 before unhooking my car and backing it out to the front by the street. I do not recommend them at all and will not be taking my business to them again. I will also tell everyone to avoid them due to their bad customer service. read more

So an update on this situation. After the whole incident with curtis. He gave me a call back the next day apologizing that there was a mistake in communication on speed element not wanting to work on my car. So I booked an appointment for my car to come in today and talk about me getting my car bagged. Instead of fixing the tien shock shipped out to get fixed(I'm still gonna get that fix at a later time) So I decided to go with airlift 3p over 3p/h due to the fact there will be much more work and money. I talked with Kyle, Alex and Devin. And all 3 gave me the details about getting a bagged car and all the problems that might come with getting a car bagged. That was great info and some knowledge I didn't know. But I still was going to get my car bagged. So I put down some cash to start the process of ordering the upgrades to my car. Oh yeah I also got an tomie exhaust go with the set up. Can't wait to bring it back and have them do the magic of speed element to my car. Oh yeah this is going to be set up on my 06 STI. I really recommend going here and talking to these guy for any upgrades or maintenance. These guys really know there's stuff. Instead of calling or email they get pretty busy. With having those 3 guys helping me out with my car speed element has redeemed them self. I was looking to buy some new wheels and tires for my 2016 WRX, and a friend recommended Speed Element, so I decided to check them out. I was greeted by Alec, one of the sales guys that works in the front office, and he showed me all the options that they had for my specific car. He was extremely knowledgeable with all the rims that were available and didn't hesitate to show me examples of what each rim would look like on my car. He wasn't pushy and let me decide what I would want for my car. He also gave me recommendations on what type of supporting mods that my car would need to achieve the look that I wanted without any bs. When it came to them working on the car, they adjusted my suspension and aligned it so the wheels would fit perfectly. Based upon the glowing reviews here I trusted SE to adjust the ride height on my car and align it. I drive a 2007 Mazdaspeed 6. Maybe if I had an EVO or STI I would have had a better experience. I purchased my H&R coilovers and SPC adjustable upper ball joints from them and installed myself. Not a hard job. They gave me an awesome price and I appreciate that very much. They were also upstanding on replacing one SPC joint that had gone bad on me within 9 months under warranty. I replaced the bad upper ball joint and rolled over to the shop to get the rear of my car raised and front evened out left to right. I wrote up specific instructions on my desired settings. One to two fingers on the rear between fender and tire and one finger up front. My alignment specs were specific as well. But not attainable up front (-1.5) due to the offset of the joints needing to be reversed so I didn't have so much negative camber. Got a call they had raised the rear and also raised the collars on one front shock to match the other. So I thought cool. I don't want my car slammed. I'm after performance. Not looks. After alignment was done I got a call they couldn't hit my numbers at the end of the day. Yet no one called me while they had it on the rack to ask what I wanted to do. They just set the front as positive as they could (-1.7 and -1.9) which was fine but the rear could have been different. I got upset over the phone and said I would come and pick it up. As I had a trip planned the next morning and needed my car. The manager called me back apologizing for not communicating the roadblock they ran into regarding alignment settings. And offered a discount for when I bring it back to get aligned again after I flipped the offset on the ball joints. Very cool of them. When I picked up the car the rear looked great. But the front was SLAMMED! Tires were tucked. Uh, not what I wanted at all. And not what was communicated to me on the phone. Once again they could have called and asked if that was ok. But no. Brought it home and packed for my road trip. The front was so low it was hilarious. Hella Flush! Not my cup of tea. Not at all. Figured no big deal. I'll raise it up myself when I flip the joints as its easy to do. The rear was perfect. Finally got around to flipping the joints and adjusting ride height this past Sunday. What I found was the large top shoulder nut on the SPC upper ball joints was rounded off by their mechanic. My control arm bolts to the frame were rounded as well. Why?. The passenger shoulder nut had two large cuts in it from a wrench slipping off. WTF? I thought they were experts. Now I've had these loose many times and never rounded them off. I actually use the right sized socket, not a crescent wrench! I then found the source of grease all over my wheels. The lower boot on my sway bar end links were destroyed. This is due to the fact they slammed my car so low. It put undue stress on that part and split the boot. I replaced them last year in August and were perfectly fine at the higher ride height it was at until they slammed it. The measured exposed thread from bottom of lock collar on the driver side shock was a mere 7/8". On passenger side it was set at 1-1/8". That's a big difference. Not the same as they stated. Furthermore, when I brought it in the exposed thread was set around 1-1/2" or more IIRC. They rasied it....yeah right! So, a call to SPC for new shoulder nuts: $20.00 New sway bar endlinks: $50.00 Will I go back for service? Hell NO!!! I am worried about the care with which they will treat my car and lack of communication during the process. YMMV. Forgot to mention after writing this review yesterday that my rear lug nuts were loose. Like 1 full turn loose. I drove on them this way for at least 500 miles or more without even knowing! I've had my wheels off many times and never once when I went to take them off again were my lugs loose. Wow, just wow. read more

Absolutely amazing shop. I was in search of a carbon fiber hood for my car and Devin reached out to me mentioning he had a few on hand. We had a brief conversation about the hood and within the next couple hours it was on my car. Staff is nice and friendly . After that experience I reached out to Speed element in regards to get tires and having them mounted on my new rims that just came in after a year. Devin assured me that they had everything to do the job and do it right. The staff did amazing work. Wheels went on with no scratches or problems. Finally got my springs and rear sway installed at Speed Element. Experience wise was not so good....:-( I drove from Dublin to San Jose because of the recommendations. When I got home, I found my F.I. exhaust was hanging low on the driver side. I lift the car up and found that my driver side exhaust was hanging by a freaking zip tie.... Called the shop right after, the installer broke the hanger stud and replace it with the zip tie during the rear sway installation. I was very pissed because how ethical was that. Drove back to the shop hoping the exhaust would not fall out on the freeway, they finally drilled through the stud and replaced it with a new bolt. Yup...it took me 2 freaking trips to get the installation done. Not to mention I had to close my office for both days....:-( I would've been okay if they told me the truth after the install, and fix the problem. However, they let me drove off without telling me, and leaving me to find out myself. To me, honesty is more important than anything else. I understand that **** happens, but at least be honest and tell me what went wrong, and spend extra 30 mins to fix it instead of letting me drive 35+ miles home with possibility of exhaust falling out in the middle of the freeway and ended up hurting myself and others. I am getting my alignment soon...hopefully I don't end up finding other broken bolts during the alignment... read more

Speed Element has some of the fairest prices for labor around. I had them do my brakes on my old Evo X, and they let me lounge around the shop all day while the repairs were being done. The owner was nice enough to show me some of his show cars in the shop, and we talked about various parts and mods for a bit. The waiting room is comfortable, with a sofa and a TV with various movies and shows for you to watch while you wait. I am going back to Speed Element for work on my new car, and I cannot be more excited. These guys are friendly and will not hesitate to help you over the phone for simple/dumb questions regarding what parts to buy and what is good for your car. I believe that they "specialize" in mostly JDM stuff, like Evos, Subarus, Lexus', etc., but I would not be surprised if they can handle some other brands, like BMW and whatnot. This place gets all my hard-to-find parts from Japan for my evo 8. SE has ordered my super rare carbon fiber voltex gt wing to my Ings+1 front bumper to my Volk TE37s. Because of all the help from Speed Element my car has won numerous awards from carshows statewide, time attack events and even a magazine feature from Import Tuner. Devin is a straight up guy and will not give the runaround on prices and order times of different products. He will give competetive prices on all the parts you want, if you want to build a fast streetcar to a show car and a full blown race car. Theres a huge car show coming up and i recently damaged my carbon fiber wing from a race before. So I gave Devin a call to find a new carbon fiber wing for my EVO. After an hour he got back to me and said he found one from socal and can be shipped within two days!! I was very pleased on the 110% effort he did. Speed Element also does installs and engine builds for all imports. I have been getting my rare Volk and Advan wheels have tires mounted because I would not trust anybody else. They also did my major tune-up on my EVO and price is half compared to the stealerships!!. I highly recommend going to Speed Element for your JDM parts, installed, tire mountings and alignments. I came here after being recommended by an old friend who runs a the business next door because i was looking to get my new coilovers installed along with camber kits. I was looking around at a few places including a few local shops I normally go to and decided on speed element because I wanted a performance shop versus your general auto shop. I connected with Devin over messages here on yelp and he was kind enough to take me by appointment on a Saturday which is dope! I had Tein's new lower end coilovers installed but I did not like them and my alignment was off so I got some Ksport's and SPC camber kits and wanted them done right and I've seen the work they've done on cars.Unlike other shops that will just install and get you on your way he went in depth asking me my preferred ride height, how stiff or soft I wanted my ride, alignment, etc. and recommended some settings as well. I was happy with the price he charged and didn't really mind it because I've seen the work they do and after getting my car back (about 6 hours) it was worth every bit. He even offered to realign the my car if it felt off after a couple days and so far (it's been 5 days) it's going well. If you are in the bay area and into tuner cars, you've probably heard about Speed Element before. They have a pretty good reputation - which is why I brought my Mazdaspeed 3 in to have several things (Fuel pump internals, Exhaust, etc.) installed, almost all of which went off with no problem. I will however, talk about the ONE issue I did have, and more importantly, how Jason, Alec, and Ryan responded to it. Basically brought in some Swift lowering springs to be put in, which were completed in a timely fashion. However after driving home I noticed some strange grinding/clunking sounds which I was hoping (optimistically) would go away after some spring settling. Unfortunately after 2 weeks, the sound was still there and I let Jason know, who immediately scheduled to bring me in to fix the issue. While there, I had some other work done and a new mechanic, Jonathon, was able to take a look at the install and figure out that the front springs needed to be reinstalled. Unfortunately they ran out of time that day and so I had to come back again for a third time, which they generously scheduled a large time slot in for me to get my work completed. Sounds like a frustrating experience so far, right? Well, it really wasn't because of how it was handled. My car was brought in again and properly diagnosed by Jonathon. Ryan let me know that I had to have 2 components replaced which were done at no additional charge to me. The fix took the greater part of a WHOLE day but the most important thing to me was that they made sure to get the installation right and Jonathon wouldn't let me leave until he was sure that the issue was fixed (it was, and the car drives soooo smooth now). Look, things go wrong in any service industry. That's just how it is. But it's how it is dealt with that measures the true standards of your company. Been to Speed Element a few times over the last couple years. Bought my Gram Light 57DR's from them. Ryan gave me great service when I was choosing lug nuts. He even opened them up and placed them on the rims so I could get an idea of what they look like. Fast forward a year later I got the same Gram Lights powder coated and then ordered the center caps from them. Took four months to come in from Japan but they were super good on the follow up and called me right when they came in. Turns out the powdercoat was too thick and they couldn't pop the caps in. I was quoted an hour of labor to sand down the powdercoat and install the caps. Turns out it only took them 30 mins and Ryan was super honest about it. Got me in and out in half an hour and only charged me half the labor I was originally quoted. Thanks Speed Element! Will definitely be back to do more business. read more

Just had Speed Element replace the clutch in my 2003 WRX and couldn't be happier. Not only were they about half the price of the dealer, but they use better parts (Exedy) and throw in a rear diff flush as part of the service. You basically get a major service included for free since they also have to flush the tranny to do the clutch. They were able to get the car in the shop within a few days of calling and were done with everything about 4 hours after dropping the car off. They even showed me the old parts which were completely shot. Great guys, great service and great prices. I will definitely be going back to Speed Element with my new 328i. Wow where to begin? I bought my 2003 showroom Evo 8 with only 9 miles on it. It was my escape from the hectic daily valley life. Comes 2018, 15 years later, still have it and drive it. Along the way Speed Element upgraded my brakes, clutch and flywheel, it was flawless work. Finally I decided to turn it into a project car, so first up, FULL engine build! I want to do it right. Devin and the rest of SpeedElement crew are just hands down the most awesome and knowledgeable guys! They know Evo and Sti better than they know their wives (j/k). Devin knew way more about what I wanted and needed! They dedicated tremendous time to help me understand what's needed, why etc. And the many weeks Codi and team spent building my engine, getting my HKS exhaust from Japan, gauges, cams, pistons, crank, all the parts for a new engine, intercooler pipe, this pipe that pipe. And comes Feb 2019, after breaking it in, Gary worked his COBB tuning magic, and now I am driving a 400hp on 91oct gas Evo with lower gears that scare me (in a good way).
