There were 2 cars in front of me when I arrived. First one didn't pass, the second one and mine both passed. This is a one-man operation and he doesn't always greet you when you arrive. It was after 2pm on a Sunday afternoon and I googled smog shops that were open and Speed E Smog pops up. I tried calling first but there was n answer. So we went for a drive to see. We get there and there were other people ahead of us however, we truly didn't wait very long. The reason why they didn't answer when I called is because it's just a one man shop. This shop is one of the dirtiest shop for smog check. It's expensive smog as high as 60 $. They won't honor the Groupon which I bought and I don't know why they are on Groupon in the first place if they won't honor it. Unprofessional. The front desk mechanic was flat out rude and not willing to honor the coupon, and said come back tomorrow after having me wait for 1.5 hrs. So all in all, I went at different location called SMG Auto smog at 4190 24th street, Sacramento for only $19.75 for smog. Which was like 40$ less expensive. I would highly recommend you guys to check out SMG auto repair and smog for $19 bucks, Pete was really helpful and professional. OFFICIAL REVIEW.... DON'T GO HERE! I decided to come here because they had a Yelp deal. Pay $36 for $89 worth of work. So we drove my 94 Toyota Corolla here (long story short, I'm selling it.) The first time we arrived, the older man behind the window came off rude right away asking where my smog papers were. I told him I don't have any because I'm selling the car. I told him I wasn't sure my battery would stay alive, he continued to over look the car and told me since it's an older car, it was going to cost $89. That's when I told him we came there because of the yelp deal. He said "ok, but it doesn't come with a certificate. That's an extra $8.25." I said, "that's fine." Then he says, "Or, you can just pay me $50 INSTEAD of buying online and that will include the certificate." Scamming around the Yelp deal. Trying to be pushy and get us to just buy it his way. .... isn't it still cheaper if I buy it online, then pay for the certificate? Yes, but I guess he was trying to make it convenient. He came out to our car with some device and wanted us to plug it in under the dash to check if it it would be ready. His knees were bad so he asked my husband and I to do it. We didn't mind, even after he was kind of rude and pushy. Maybe he was having a rough day..... Never got it plugged in. The mechanic came out, was honest, and said if we haven't driven it at least 30-50 miles recently, it's not going to pass. We thanked the mechanic. We told them we would be back and we drove quite a ways that day. Came back to the shop a few hours later(no, I wasn't driving the whole time) and the older man put us back in line. He told us it was going to be 45 min to an hour. So we waited. We watched him try to over charge 3 other people in there. 2 that called and he quoted $50. One he had quoted $50 he was trying to charge $79! She almost paid, too! Things started to feel shady. Then, 2 people who had shown up earlier that day, when there was a 2 hour wait, and we're bumped up to the front of the line ahead of the 2 people waiting over am hour already. They were pretty upset. After our car didn't pass smog because of the emissions test and timing, the man told us the total was $41.75 (he wasn't charging for the certificate since it didn't pass.) When I told him I bought the deal for $36, he blew up. In front of 4 other people in that small sardine can of a waiting room, he started yelling that I had already agreed to pay him $50. I never agreed. He told me his idea to pay him instead of paying the Yelp deal, but I never said yes to it. He continued to yell me saying over and over that I had agreed to pay $50, and that I should've told him before I bought it, then I should've told him when I bought it. even after I was in there showing him the deal. I asked him, "What is the problem here?! Isn't this your Yelp deal on the Yelp site?! I've paid for it already!" He yelled back that "When you called earlier and I quoted you $50!" Hmmm.... we never called the shop. After my husband told him that, all of a sudden.... the older man behind the counter stopped yelling. He said he needed my phone, not specifying that it was because he needed a code.... Worth his new found kindness, he said, "you don't owe anything today because you paid for the deal. You do get a free retest, but come back within a month. He handed us the keys and when we walked out, our car was still in his shop. After a few moments of talking, and deciding not to drive it out ourselves, I went back into the lions den and asked if we should move or car out. He said he'd be out in a few min. I told him it's hot out here and we have to get going. Who could blame me? I wanted to get the F outta there! read more

Had a great experience at this place. Bought a groupon for it because I needed my car smoged for my car registration. This place is STAR certified. There is an additional $8 something labor fee charged. Walked in a was created immediately, was given a time frame of 10-15 minutes and was pleasantly surprised when my car was finished within the given time frame. Plus: Their name really says it, it was a speedy smog check! Granted there was no one ahead of us. There was hot coffee and different flavored creamers available which was really nice bc it was a very cold day. The attendant also offered to make more if we desired. I left my lunch pail and hydro flask behind and they gave us a call about 10 minutes after, my boyfriend and I were currently at a nearby restaurant and they said they closed at 6pm and to come anytime before that. Negative: the only thing I can think of is a sign out front would greatly help in finding the place. There is no sign that says "Speed E Smog" outside. read more
