When Dish kept increasing our monthly fee, we decided to switch to DirecTV Stream. After I signed up for the "no-risk" trial of DirecTV Stream, I called Dish to cancel that overlapping service. At that point, Dish transferred me over to a customer retention specialist who made me an offer that we could not refuse. At that point, I signed up with Dish, then called DirecTV to bail out of their service. Good luck! I was beyond their 14-day trial and could not cancel without paying them for the entire 2 year contract. They were holding me hostage. I then called Dish to explain the situation to them and to cancel that service that we had just ordered the day before, and THEY also tried to hold me hostage and expected me to pay for an entire 2 year contact. After threatening Dish with legal action and reminding them that the contract could be revoked within 3 business days, they caved in. So now we are stuck with DirecTV Stream for 2 years. It came with the one Gemini device and remote. We have two TVs, and I was not willing to pay them to lease another remote, so I bought two more online. We have had frequent and recurring problems, where we are watching recorded programming and where an error message suddenly pops up, saying that it has lost our Internet connection (which is total nonsense). The only way to escape this when it happens (error code 10007-013) is for me to restart the device. I had to do this yesterday and again today. So much for "streaming". I called DirecTV when this occurred today, and their technical support was totally useless. She wanted me to reboot my Starlink modem, which is working fine with a dozen other devices in our house, including the other TV. I have also had issues where I have had to totally reprogram one of the Gemini remotes after it kept freezing up. Waiting for this contract to end is worse than waiting for the next election cycle.

Before switching from my previous carrier, I called Spectrum with several questions because I wanted to be sure I was making the right decision. I don't know if the answers I received were just meant to convince me to switch, but they were not accurate. Maybe the agent was poorly trained, but the information she gave me was not correct. I had three lines with Verizon, all on 36‑month contracts. I originally purchased two Samsung S23 phones and one iPhone 14 through Verizon. Last year, I upgraded my own phone from the S23 to the S25, buying it directly from Samsung's website and financing it through Affirm. I explained all of this to the Spectrum agent and asked if this phone would also qualify for the buyout program. She told me yes--that all phones on the lines I transferred to Spectrum would be paid off, even if they were purchased outside Verizon. I understood that the buyout program was meant to attract new customers, so it made sense. I even told her that I still owed $240 on the S23, which still appears on my Verizon bill, and that I still have that phone with me. But for me, it would be more beneficial if the S25 were paid off, since that is the phone with the higher remaining balance. I made it very clear that I didn't want any surprises after switching. She reassured me that this situation was common and that there would be no problem. After switching to Spectrum, I submitted all the documents to the buyout financial group exactly as the agent instructed. To my surprise, they only approved the remaining balance for the phones originally purchased through Verizon--not the S25 I bought through Samsung. I called, explained everything, and asked them to review the recorded call, since every call begins with a message saying the conversation is recorded. I wasn't making anything up. They opened a ticket, escalated it to a manager, and after days of back‑and‑forth, the manager told me the best he could do was offer a $20 compensation for the mistake. I explained again that if I had been given the correct information, I could have chosen to activate the line with the S23 I still owe $240 on, using the buyout program properly. Now I have to pay that out of pocket. I repeated that I was misinformed by the Spectrum agent with a false promise. Even so, the manager insisted that $20 was the best he could offer. Terrible management. He could have done more. I'm sad and frustrated with this beginning at Spectrum.

An appointment was set up for Monday December 31st. We received a phone call on Sunday night stating that the appointment would have to be cancelled as the technician did not have a receiver box (which I believe is necessary for any Direct TV customer) and the earliest they could come was Thursday, Jan. 3rd. We continued to have problems with the sound on our receiver (which was the original problem that caused us to purchase a new television) We contacted customer service again and the earliest appointment we can get is Monday January 7th. After spending over 300 dollars for a new television and missing work as they did not call until the night before to cancel we are told that we will have to wait a week and a half to resolve this problem. I feel that it is poor customer service as we called on December 27th and they set us up as a priority and got an appointment within 2 days and then appointment cancelled the night before. We missed work and when calling customer service stating that they could not help us even though the equipment that they supposedly was out of was a common piece of equipment that any customer needs. After being a customer for over 20 years I feel that is is a disgrace as to how they treat their long standing customers

Apparently my request is not acceptable! They have refused saying I should "troubleshoot" the receiver as instructed! How Many Times must I do this??? Now this company has the unmitigated gaul to say they will (one time only) send me another receiver for Me to Hook Up and if that wasn't the problem they are absolved from any further responsibilities regarding this matter. In my opinion Dish Network needs to immediately revamp their service before even more customers leave their network.

Not a big deal I thought, he just cares about his customers. We had originally decided to meet in december to have my television calibrated, but something personal came up on his end and he had to cancel. Not a big deal since I was having some financial troubles and didn't mind waiting until things got better. I told him I would get ahold of him when they did, likely in the spring. I contacted him in the spring to let him know I was still interested, but didn't have the money then and I would contact him later on when I did. A couple months later in the summer I emailed him to schedule an appointment for the fall. When I did this, he then quoted me a much higher price than he did in the winter, and said he needed to be paid all of it up front. I did not have the money to do this, so I said "Unfortunately I don't think I can afford it right now. I'm heading back to school in September, and thought I would have the extra funds but it's looking like I won't. I don't mean to waste your time. I hope you will be available in a couple of years when I finish and am working in a field where I will be more financially stable." His response was "I appreciate your honesty, but the fact is you did cause me to waste valuable time and effort responding to your on and off again quest to get your TVs calibrated. That's why I insisted on a pre-appointment deposit because I was very concerned about you changing your mind. I do wish you well and hope that you achieve financial stability." I found this reply to be rather rude and hypocritical considering he was the one who initially cancelled our original meeting, and costed me 100 dollars on my phone bill. I let him know this, and he told me to grow up. So yeah. Those are the facts.
