The sample was thin, clumpy and just of poor quality. Being an inexperienced painter in the digital age, I turned to online reviews for recommendations for high quality paint. Enter Reckless Paint, one of the only Benjamin Moore paint suppliers in the Durham/Chapel Hill area. If you're looking for an old-school, friendly paint shop, this is the place to go. The staff was knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. The owner helped me decide which type of paint I needed, matched the color perfectly to the sample I'd loved and made sure that I purchased the right amount of paint. They did mistakenly make an eggshell instead of a matte finish. I wasn't picky and could have been easily convinced that eggshell was a better option. They didn't push a 'well, eggshell is superior' sale on me. Instead, they profusely apologized and gave me a 50% discount! That's customer service. I hadn't expected anything like that (and to be honest, was completely fine with the eggshell after they showed me the eggshell paint on their walls and gave me instructions on how I should use the paint). They carried multiple types of paint (I bought and loved the low VOC Devine paint...no priming and I only needed 1 coat to cover brown walls). I also saw paint supplies- rollers, brushes, drop cloths, etc and stains for wood. When the urge to change the colors of my walls strikes again, I'll definitely return to Reckless. I'd highly recommend to anyone looking for quality paint and service.

They also have the ability to match any color you may want to paint your hone, or whatever you choose to paint. Staff is friendly and professional. While I was there I even saw one of the employees carry a customers purchase to their car. You won't get that at a Walmart, Home Depot or a Lowe's.

Their products are consistently good. We went in today to get advice on refinishing our kitchen cabinets in the easiest way possible. When I told her we didn't want to prime, she suggested a paint that would most likely work well over slightly sanded cabinets. She also told us the price before mixing it to prevent sticker shock, and found a coupon we could use. She mentioned a product to clean the cabinets first, but I ignored it (again, being lazy on this very time consuming project). She brought the product to me and in a very "you really need to do this" voice without being at all pushy recommended it again. And you know what? She was absolutely right! I couldn't believe how much dirt and grease came off my cabinets even though we wipe them down all the time! I often find the paint sample area to be a bit messy with people's trash, and paint samples scattered about, but I can easily overlook this due to the high level of customer service.

When it came time to order the paint, I left that to Four Seasons, the painters I hired. I have no intention of returning to the SW store on Hillsborough again. There is no excuse for the lack of interest they showed in me that day. There are other SW locations in the area to patronize. AVOID THIS ONE!

It's made of limestone and no matter what you seal it with, the finish cannot withstand lemon juice or anything acidic. Lemon juice! In a kitchen! Ruins my counter top. Really???? It's hard to capture in a photo but what I posted below shows just one spot where the finish is destroyed. But there are so many spots now that basically there's very little glossy finish left. He was surprised that it didn't hold up to lemon juice, proving he didn't know what he was dealing with. and he did reseal it once, but when that didn't work and I insisted he make it right, he walked off the job without finishing. He also helped me pick out a copper sink. Sounded great and looked beautiful when installed. But within one day the finish began to come off and now it looks like crap. See below. When I later did some research on copper sinks they say "not recommended for kitchens!" I expect when I hire a professional, that he will have the experience to help me pick suitable products. This guy does not. Do not recommend.
