I had two bathrooms gutted and redone 5 months after purchasing my home in April 2016 due to leaks. It was better to redo everything and not have to worry anymore. WRONG! 4 1/2 year later and the master bath is still leaking. They tore out everything down to the studs and did all of the plumbing etc. They said I would be first person that he was installing a corner rounded shower for. The master shower started leaking right away. Their "fix" was to goop all of this silicone which one, looked horrible and two didn't even fix the issue. They closed the living room ceiling after supposedly fixing the problem. My living room ceiling has been reopened time and time again. I had a family plumber come out multiple times because they are trying to fix what he did without ripping out the entire shower. They are having hard time and will be cutting wall out. The botton shower base is not level which is part of the problem. Can't fix that without tearing out and redoing the entire shower. They bought a cheap low tub for the hall bath and when I asked about it, they said it was the same size that I had. No it was not. They did not add anymore support when installing the tub and when you stand in it, it creeks because it moves. The old tub didn't creek. The hall bath has a sound in the wall that sounds like dripping. It is because they used flex hoses and did not secure them so they bang for a bit after running the tub/ shower. They put their wet saw in my hallway and did not protect anything. When they left, I found that my walls had gotten wet and the paint started bubbling. Again, he said he would fix it. Greg came and just started brushing paint over it without fixing or smoothing it out. Had to hire a painter to come fix. They do not ask the owner their opinion or preference and put things where they like them. They moved an outlet from the right side to the left which is a pain because we are all right handed. Not a big deal but just one more little thing that is annoying. I called to ask questions about the master bath and asked Greg to come back and look. He said he was too busy and to hire someone to fix it and he would pay for it "if it was something he did". REALLY, you did it all. I would never recommend this father son team. They rush and throw things together and make no time to make it right. read more

Worst experience and waste of a lot of money. My kitchen was measured wrong!!!!! My kitchen was gutted so there was no reason for anything to go wrong. I used the companies Dave recommended for products and design. When they gutted the kitchen they used molly bolts in my walls to hang plastic and only used a canvas tarp on my wool rug they walked over no paper or plastic underneath ! Needless to say my rug became trash along with my wood floors ! They don't measure well. Many cabinets hit the walls when they open, Daves fix was to put little clear rubber pads on the NEW cabinets, again WHAT. After I called the cabinet company they sent spacers to fix this problem. The new pendant lights were put up and my new cabinet doors hit them when they opened!! My refrigerator door knocked into the light switches and turned lights on and off, more bad measuring if it was measured. The refrigerator door still can't open all the way due to their measuring skills. With gutting the kitchen and a wall knocked down planning on placing 4 chairs around the new counter. This didn't happen because they didn't pull up all the flooring so there is a lip between the rooms that is a tripping hazard and the fourth chair would be on two levels . Along with the floor being crooked and not under my cabinets they start the tile at the inside wall so your entry to the kitchen is with tile being forced to be cut very small this cheapen the look. Dave is rude and a bully. I don't think either can do a miter cut and take every short cut possible. How can you get a straight line with tile when you don't use spacers?? I was told you can't use spacers. WRONG my floor is crooked and my back splash also. Every step was a battle. What an expensive disappointment. The kitchen lights flicker along with others in the house now, scary. They didn't label anything in the electrical box. I haven't been able to hire a licensed electrician to come fix all of this yet Save your self money and sleep and stay away from these guys. We used Spectrum approx. 10 yrs ago to do a total replacement of our kitchen. Dave, Ray and Greg did such a wonderful job. Not only was the job done well, but we would come home from work and were pleasantly surprised at how clean the house was. So, when we recently decided to replace two of our bathrooms we called Dave. His estimate was a little higher than the other 2 contractors, but the fact that we had prior experience was a big factor in our decision to have Spectrum do the job. It took approximately 9 days to do the 2 bathrooms. Our biggest negative issues were that they were certainly not as clean as we remembered them to be with the kitchen. They (mostly) broom-swept and left the junk in a pile. We had to run the vaccuum and wash the floors every day. The other issue is that we felt that they rushed through the 2nd bathroom because they fell behind schedule. I assume they book jobs pretty close together. On the positive side, they came out really nice in the end. I will also say that we paid them in full at the end even though there were some punch-list items to take care of, which they did a few weeks later. So, other than the cleanliness and rushed feeling issues during construction, we are really enjoying our new bathrooms. read more

Remarkable!! Contractors who show up when they say they will, are polite and actually work a full day! I don't know if you would get a better job at double the price. Our bathroom looks great! Even more remarkable is that they came back after the job to install lighting fixtures which we had ordered and did not arrive in time. Would definitely use Spectrum again. read more

Not sure how these negative reviews are possible. I am an interior decorator and met Dave and Greg about a year and a half ago on a client bathroom project. They did beautiful work, were very fairly priced, flexible and helpful regarding product selections, were neat and a pleasure to work with. I recommended them to several clients and have collaborated with them on 4 client bathrooms and 2 kitchens,one of which was my own. Working with Dave and Greg is like having relatives in the trades. They are honest, hard-working and fast. They don't waste your time or money. I am about to have them renovate 2 bathrooms in my home and I look forward to the same process and same great results. read more

We have been remodeling our home for over six years and this is the worst experience we have ever had with a contractor. We invited Dave Hatfield out to our home for a quote and were pleased with his estimate. We went back and forth several times over the next couple months with ideas. Each time we asked him about doing something new (like lights in the cabinets) he was excited and totally on board. Eventually we settled on a price and we both signed the contract agreeing to the work that was to be done. Dave said our kitchen remodel would take five days, which seemed really short considering the scope of the project, but we believed him. We gave him a down payment of 10k before the big day and the weekend before he was to begin, we sold our old appliances and moved everything out of the kitchen cabinets. Dave called us the Friday night before he was supposed to begin THAT Monday morning and cancelled all together. When we asked him why he said that he could not handle the scope of this project with all of of the fine details we had in mind and he had not allotted enough time for the project. We offered to give him more time and we offered to sub out some parts of the project to others to lessen his burden but he was not interested. We asked him for our 10k deposit back and he refused. He said he had already bought the cabinets for our kitchen with it and all he was giving us was the cabinets. We had bought a package deal from Dave including everything so we were not even sure what the cabinets cost. When he told us it was the entire deposit we were livid. We went to other places who priced the same cabinets as low at 7k (Just Cabinets and Donatucci's). We also were not interested in getting stuck with the cabinets when we did not have anyone to install them. We did not want to go to court though, even though Dave violated the contract he signed to do the work, so we took the cabinets and accepted the loss. It took us months to find another contractor who could work us in. We wanted someone who was really good and could be trusted. During this time we were forced to make payments on high end cabinets and appliances that sat in storage collecting dust. When we did bring people in for estimates they could not believe anyone was dumb enough to think this project could be done in a week. We also found out that Dave had told us the wrong sized refrigerator and stainless panels to order. We were not allowed to return the panels so we lost another 1k. When we got the cabinets in we realized that they did not fit. Dave had been off my a critical 1/2 inch and we had to go to extreme measures to remove part of the back of the house in order to fit them into our kitchen. Dave was not apologetic about any of this and was totally rude every time we spoke to him. He clearly likes to pump out cheap kitchens, one a week, and he has no attention or eye for detail. Once he noticed that we did, he was out. He seemed nice when were were getting our estimate but later he was rude and unprofessional and made many unacceptable mistakes.
