His team was outside my house waiting for him when he arrived one minute early to start, and they finished painting my entire rowhome in 1.5 days. They were friendly, courteous and cleaned up very well after themselves (you want to steam mop after any contractors are in your house though). They also moved the larger furniture I couldn't myself and put it back again. Could I have tried to paint my myself and save some money? Sure. Was it worth the money to have it done by them, saving me days of exasperation (with an uncertain outcome)? Most definitely. I will add painting to the long list I have of "leaving it to the professionals" but will only call this particular professional for my next painting project (as well as refer him to my friends). It was hard to get an estimate, e-mails sent were apparently missed, the office staff was disorganized- and I'm being polite. it was disorganized to the point I felt like they didn't want my business. and setting a date for the work was only marginally less stressful than Noah booking seats on the ark. When the workmen showed up, they had no work order, I got no receipt or anything at all, and they barely spoke English leading to a few misunderstandings. So the work was absolutely first rate but my God, it was a challenge getting it going.

He huffed and puffed about cc'ing a second email so god knows what he would be like on the job if he had to do something mildly inconvenient. All of the contractors I've dealt with with the exception of Beauty Walls - have enjoyed back and forth communication, and being very communicative and clear. Sviat literally told us "I'm not in the communications department" on one of his bad days where he was 'inconvenienced' by having to respond to our emails and requests. He rage deleted our project from his system, and when we asked him about it he said that he let his emotions get the best of him and shouldn't have done it in the moment (see more later). Dealing with him and his business delayed our move in date by a month. A prime example of communications with him will be ie - send email Monday, no reply, we follow up Wednesday, then he replies, then we respond within minutes to hours, and have to follow up again Friday for an update. We were going to try to make it work with him - since he did our floors for another property many years ago and went without hiccup. He emailed us (this is copy and pasted: " I made a mistake deleting that estimate, I started again and I'm not able to overcome my emotions. Sorry I can't do your floors. There are good companies on Yelp.com or Angi.com with trustful reviews. We can do painting for you after the floors are done" I would recommend this business if you are ok dealing with this unprofessionalism and childlike behavior As soon as we moved onto quotes from 2 other businesses, WOW night and day. Very communicative, no babysitting and having to follow up for responses, and even more - wow no complaining about having to communicate?! Bonkers. Such a horrible experience, when I really wanted to initially support an independent family business.

There are 5 star reviews that exist because everything went right. And then there are 5 star…read morereviews because something went wrong, and the company MADE it right. This is the latter of those two scenarios. Home Hero came to install curtains, a TV and a few rods and the first person they sent out wasn't quite able to finish the job due to the fact that we lived in a high rise and the studs were actually made from impenetrable steel (Who knew!). We had a few smaller issues with the work as well. None of it irreparable but we were left dissatisfied enough to let Home Hero know. They IMMEDIATELY reached out to us and asked how they could make it right and went through great effort to do just that. They sent a second person back out and finished the job. I was incredibly impressed with Pete (The owner, I gather) and his team's unquestioning devotion to making sure our work was finished and to our standards. Things go wrong on jobs. It just happens. And that's going to happen with ANYONE who comes into your home in a handyman type capacity. But after working with Home Hero's, it should be appreciated that not every contractor will go the extra mile to make sure you are happy with the work, and go back in and correct it if you're not. Thanks again to the two handymen at HH as well as Pete and Lea back at the office.

More like the Home Nightmare. I hired them to re-caulk two showers and repair one kitchen cabinet…read moredrawer. They asked me not to use the showers 48 hours in advance, so I did. On the day of the appointment, I waited around until 5pm, when I called to confirm they were still coming. They didn't answer, but called me back about 30 min later to say that there was a mix-up and that they weren't coming. To their credit, they did come the next day, but the technician was very confused about what to caulk in my showers. We watched a youtube video together, then he caulked the showers. I was very nervous at this point, but trusted him. Of course, after waiting 24 more hours to use the showers (and now almost a week of showering at the gym), I find that the shower leaks!!! I contacted the company and they promised to look at it when the drawer technician comes out. Well, that appointment got rescheduled 2 times. I was getting pretty fed up and asked them to commit to a time. That's when Pete, the manager, tells me via email that they cannot ensure that a shower won't leak after they caulk it. At this point, I had no confidence in this company and asked for a refund for the one shower and to cancel the drawer repair. They refunded me $75 out $200 wished me luck disputing the remainder with my credit card company. A total waste of my time and honestly the worst customer service I've experienced in Philly (and that's saying a lot!).
