After meeting with several local contractors to renovate our basement in Collingswood, we stumbled…read moreupon T and R Contracting in the yellow pages (of all places). With 22 positive reviews on yp.com, we figured we'd bring them in as well. My wife and I are so glad that we did! T and R ended up winning the job as one of low bidders and they did an excellent job finishing the basement. Tom (the T) was an awesome person to deal with. He handled all the construction permits and picked up all the material for the job. His crew was very respectful to this house and they finished the entire basement (floors, windows, electric, drywall) within a month. Communication was a breeze even though we weren't home during the day. The attention to detail was an added bonus. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking to do a home remodel job in the Collingswood / Cherry Hill area.

Broke Contract!!!…read more The good, bad and the ugly! Owner agreed to 3 projects and only completed 2. We were supplying the tile, the vanities, and the doors for the bath and shower. We were led to believe that it could all be done one after another in a couple of weeks time. First project, full bathroom reno went amazingly and turned out beautiful, second project, front porch refresh was sub-contracted out and while it looks okay from the street, once you get up close, the inconsistent work is obvious. T and R never came to even check it out when it was done. The third project, a small bathroom demo and shower stall reno was never even started, even though we purchased an expensive vanity, mirror and all the tiles. Weeks turned into months of waiting and us doing all of the reaching out to them to set a date. A date was never set and when we pushed to get a firm date was told it was probably best to part ways. One other email came after that saying that the contract would need to be updated for work that wasn't in the contract. Reviewing the old contracts, they were never really correct because different things that were discussed were left out of each revision. Not sure how that office is organized, but I would say it isn't. We are very disappointed to be in this bind right before the holidays when we started this process in August and have had supplies all over the house for months.

Stop right here. Look nowhere else. I have done the legwork for you!…read more In 2018 we had Steve and at least 5 other contractors come out to give us a quote on our kitchen remodel. After meeting Steve, there was an authenticity about him that none of the other contractors possessed. Every question that we asked him, he was up front, honest and listened intently to our wants and needs. After receiving many quotes, unfortunately then, we knew we had to save up before we could afford to have our kitchen done. Fast forward to the end of 2019 and we were ready to take the plunge! We knew that Steve was our guy. We gave him a call, he came back out several times to take measurements, design, etc. We had a start date of March 2020. Surprise... COVID! Everything was in limbo and we decided it was best to wait. Finally come August 3rd, 2020 Steve and his helper started demo work. Our final completion date was mid October. During construction time, I had two other friends getting their kitchens done as well. The horror stories they told me of their contractors being late, not being honest, charging more than what the contract stated, etc. had my husband and I feel like we hit the jackpot finding Steve. Many contractors now a days sub everything out and don't lift a finger. Not this guy! He is there every day, doing the work, and is passionate about his craft. He is meticulous and will not cut corners, leaving you a project that you are proud of. Steve is arguably the hardest working human my husband and I have ever met. When you hire Steve, you don't just get a contractor, you get a friend...that turns into family. My husband, my two children and I fell in love with Steve. He brought us joy daily during the two months he was with us and has become part of our extended family. We miss seeing him frequently, but now get to enjoy the work he did on our home daily. All of our friends and family that have walked into our home think we hired a high end contractor and designer for our project. We hired an expert handyman - the name says it all. Expert work at a fair price. Future customers, you can thank me later. ;)

There are 5 star reviews that exist because everything went right. And then there are 5 star…read morereviews because something went wrong, and the company MADE it right. This is the latter of those two scenarios. Home Hero came to install curtains, a TV and a few rods and the first person they sent out wasn't quite able to finish the job due to the fact that we lived in a high rise and the studs were actually made from impenetrable steel (Who knew!). We had a few smaller issues with the work as well. None of it irreparable but we were left dissatisfied enough to let Home Hero know. They IMMEDIATELY reached out to us and asked how they could make it right and went through great effort to do just that. They sent a second person back out and finished the job. I was incredibly impressed with Pete (The owner, I gather) and his team's unquestioning devotion to making sure our work was finished and to our standards. Things go wrong on jobs. It just happens. And that's going to happen with ANYONE who comes into your home in a handyman type capacity. But after working with Home Hero's, it should be appreciated that not every contractor will go the extra mile to make sure you are happy with the work, and go back in and correct it if you're not. Thanks again to the two handymen at HH as well as Pete and Lea back at the office.

More like the Home Nightmare. I hired them to re-caulk two showers and repair one kitchen cabinet…read moredrawer. They asked me not to use the showers 48 hours in advance, so I did. On the day of the appointment, I waited around until 5pm, when I called to confirm they were still coming. They didn't answer, but called me back about 30 min later to say that there was a mix-up and that they weren't coming. To their credit, they did come the next day, but the technician was very confused about what to caulk in my showers. We watched a youtube video together, then he caulked the showers. I was very nervous at this point, but trusted him. Of course, after waiting 24 more hours to use the showers (and now almost a week of showering at the gym), I find that the shower leaks!!! I contacted the company and they promised to look at it when the drawer technician comes out. Well, that appointment got rescheduled 2 times. I was getting pretty fed up and asked them to commit to a time. That's when Pete, the manager, tells me via email that they cannot ensure that a shower won't leak after they caulk it. At this point, I had no confidence in this company and asked for a refund for the one shower and to cancel the drawer repair. They refunded me $75 out $200 wished me luck disputing the remainder with my credit card company. A total waste of my time and honestly the worst customer service I've experienced in Philly (and that's saying a lot!).

They were always upfront about where they saw issues in our home and checked in later in the month to make sure everything was still ship shape. A bit more detail about what we had done - Our house had some sort of pest in the ceiling that was driving our cats and dog crazy. We had an exterminator come, but he was useless, saying that we would have to wait for the vermin to die in the ceiling and to let the smell dissipate once it died. :/ Thankfully, we then called Mike. He agreed that the exterminator's plan was not optimal, and, after discussing options, he cut a hole in the ceiling to install a humane trap and put a cover over the hole that looks like it had always been in the house. He checked all places a rodent could get in, literally from the roof to the foundation, and patched all holes. There was flashing that was peeling off around our roof that he fixed, and huge holes in our basement that led to the backyard, as well as our hoarder neighbor's house. Mike and his crew worked around my hectic schedule, came within 24 hours to set up traps, and removed anything that was caught. It is apparent how much Mike and Evolution care about their customers, and we are grateful to have people we can trust in our home. Thanks to their efforts, our home is now pest free!
