Hence, it's a nice way to get to know a spa like this; had I not signed up for it, Heyday would have been unknown to me for the rest of my life (might be an exaggeration but hey, when you are excited about something sometimes you want to amplify what you want to say, right?) I was simply overdue for a facial. Counting months from the last visit I had, my anticipation towards today's experience was HIGH. I felt like skipping to show up with a big grin on my face! They were expecting me because as soon as I stepped in, a young lady at the reception said, "You are Rika, right?" It was so nice to be expected! Since the first timer intake form was completed prior to visiting, the check-in took only a minute. I was a bit early for my appointment time. While I was waiting, I checked out some of the products that were displayed. I even tested a few of them on my skin; I was immediately impressed with it. Right at the appointment time (of 5:30pm), my esthetician, Aunjanee, came out from the back and greeted me. The young lady upfront explained to me about their cabins/stalls/room (however you describe it.) You'll be one-on-one with your esthetician in one cabins/stalls/rooms but it's an open-air system so you'll hear other people's talking/voices from other cabins/stalls/rooms. Some appear to dislike this system, this didn't bother me AT ALL (I've been to a facial place where it was a barber shop/hair salon style where they'll put you in one big room.) People can be chatty and loud but even if that happens, I think I'd still be able to handle the "noises". Aunjanee was so considerate of my old/sensitive skin. Once she cleansed my face using two different cleansers, she analyzed my skin thoroughly. She pointed out some problem areas and explained what would need to be done to tackle them. Her clear explanation was easily understood. And all the ingredients she used on my face had AMAZING scents. And the extraction part came. Since she wanted to clear the "congestions" especially on my nose, she squeezed it pretty hard (lol). This didn't bother me though as it wasn't painful. Oh, by the way, this place does not use steamers on people's faces; they only use hot towels (this was also explained to me upfront by the receptionist (I think); I wonder why that is. I didn't bother to ask. Was this a problem to me? Nope! I was OK with that 100%! 50 minutes of facial was just the right length. Because the whole experience was so relaxing (Aunjanee's soft voice had a hypnotic power) I was (at one point) half asleep! At the end, Aunjanee let me see the end result. My face was glowing like a bright moon in the dark sky! My parched middle-aged skin was supersonic hydrated. This was by far the BEST facial experience in a while. I actually had to chance the time of my appointment and was able to do it all online without having to call, which helped save me a lot of time. Since the facial was free, I added the guasha treatment (for $50) which was a massage using stone in a scraping motion across the face and neck. I followed up at two, three and four weeks when my face continued to peel, including all around my eyes. I told Trish that this wasn't normal, but was told time and time again by her that "all was in order". After being told all was in order at week three, she added more active products (hyaluronic acid) and a sponge, but things continued to peel and get worse. When I asked about the peeled areas, she said, "Yes, all of that is going to heal. I think you're just working yourself up and the doctor agrees." Her exact words. Well, it didn't heal and their eye doctor eventually had me putting Vaseline all around my eyes as an occlusive barrier because of peeling right next to my eyes! At five weeks I was still peeling and went to see my dermatologist, she said STOP what they've told you to do and simplify to a gentle cleanser and moisturizer by Vanicream. They have you on a chemical cocktail and it's damaging the skin further. I did what the dermatologist told me and in three days things were better and in one week my face has stopped reacting/peeling, but the damage is done. Just think if I'd received proper after care, when I first asked, things might have course corrected. But I was just given more product and more bad advice. This improper after care guidance ruined my face and may have created more damage than the treatment was meant to fix, one mark on my neck and a couple brown spots. I had great skin before, and I regret the decision to have this treatment at over $2,200 every single day. I've asked for a conversation and a phone call, and my money back, as even my dermatologist cannot say if my skin will be healed to its pre laser condition. And as an aside, when I went back for my follow up, Trish was not working there any more. I just can't give this place and the treatment any good recommendation at all.
