On the day of the job I found out he was not doing the job and had a young employee doing it instead. I was assured he was as good. The Bid included screwing down floors where there were any squeaks, which was only half completed. After he was paid in full I noticed kitchen doorway corner has a gap between the door trim and where the floor is installed. The Floor wasn't cut to fit properly. This will need to be filled in with wood filler and stained or painted to try to match the new flooring, which I requested he return to complete. At the time of the request I included a picture asking what needed to be done to fix this. I was met with SILENCE. He has his money so I am left to repair this gap in the floor. I paid to have a professional installation done and did not get what I paid for. There is a complete lack of professional obligation to do the job for which he was paid. I will not recommend this company to install your flooring.

Sundeleaf was actually more expensive but I had more of repore with the folks there. I informed them about the other quote and Sundeleaf changed their price (bonus). Things to know about Sundeleaf: They provided an interior decorator to help me choose colors. The amount of colors you chose will be reflected in your final bill (something like 90 bucks/color) They were willing to come back and paint a few things that were over looked. Over all a good experience. I would definitely use them again for a big job.

Rick is very responsive, cordial, reliable, and he completed the work on-schedule. However, AvidPro…read moreis much too expensive for the quality of their work. Rick informed me up-front that he would not be the cheapest option, but that I would be paying for top-notch work. For this reason, I went with AvidPro, despite their being the 2nd most expensive of four quotes. The job was approximately 2000 sq ft, half refinish of existing, and the other half new installation and finishing. We were under a tight timeline to move in, and Rick's crew worked some weekends to hit our deadline. We really appreciated this, and the rush may have contributed to some of the issues. However, I raised many of them early on. Yes, I am a real stickler for details, but for the price, I found the following unacceptable: * visible sanding swirl marks in numerous locations * surface flatness issues * dust in finish * very visible transition of sealer & finish application in front of refrigerator (fridge slid out to finish underneath) * failure to edge-sand around the kitchen island, on the incorrect assumption that there would be a shoe-molding * drips on stairs * significant gaps have opened up in new flooring in an area that receives direct sunlight * deviations from agreed-upon approach to specific details (finish sheen, under-cutting of existing trim, stair nose, etc.) When I raised these issues, Rick was very willing to discuss but was adamant that his work was industry-standard. However, I installed and finished flooring myself on three separate occasions in our last house, and none of these issues was present. I have also seen the results of numerous professional flooring projects in my parents' houses over the years, and almost all of them demonstrated better fit and finish than my experience with AvidPro. Rick did offer to re-work some of the issues, but unfortunately a number of them could not be corrected in time for us to move in, so we opted to live with them.

Is quote was reasonable; not the lowest and not the highest. His staff was polite, efficient with time and made sure the work area was cleaned up each day, making sure the gate to the back yard was always shut to ensure the safety of our new puppy. In the busiest time of the year, Carlos kept us informed on when they anticipated to start on our project. The project actually started sooner than I had anticipated and I had not selected the house colors! He recommended using Benjamin Moore on Powell and to work with their color consultant. She was amazing. Carlos also went out of his way to show me pictures and to bring color samples by the house to help in the decision making process. Having to travel prior to final color selection was difficult. Carlos was flexible, rearranging the order of painting, to accommodate travel and to ensure that we would be happy with the final color selection. Once the project started he did a thorough walk around identifying rotting regions around windows and doors and personally replaced rotten wood and caulking all holes, cracks,etc. The end product is beautiful. We went with a beautiful, rich, blue with cream trim and black accents that compliment the style of our home.
