I have been a consistent part of this gym family for the past 10 months and within that time I have evolved into the person I always knew I had within. I have changed so much, not just physically, but also mentally and socially. Physically, I've leaned and toned my over 40 year old body and am the strongest I've ever been. When I started at Elite, I took Shain's bootcamp classes, as well as a few other classes, but the knowledge that Shain has and structure of his classes is one of the many reasons why I literally want to be within these 4 walls every single chance I get. I've recently added a third personal training day with Shain, because yes, I want those "gains", but because I'm obsessed with the literal family I've gained in the meantime. Shain, as well as, his team of trainers, are all very supportive and make every experience in their gym a fun and pleasant one with a great sweat session to top it all off. This place really is that good, all because of Melonie. I find it difficult to express in positive terms something which, by its very nature, is so extraordinarily painful that the day after I come here I wake up howling to an uncaring sky that my body is about to fall apart yet again. "How could she do this to me?" I whine. "I thought yoga was supposed to be restful, relaxing, good for the body and soul!" runs through my head as I tried to drag myself to a hot shower to recover. Seriously, all of you women 30 years older than I am who do this with every outward appearance of pleasure and relaxation, I hate you. I got dragged here by a friend who told me "this is the most painful thing that you could ever do," and then laughed at me when I scoffed at him. I, in turn, brought a young lady to whom I told the same thing. She then laughed at me as she had a wonderful time and it didn't hurt her at all. For her part, the instructor also laughs at me as she rams the iron jackboot of relentless health down my spine. I sense a pattern here. I refuse to buy a block of lessons (even though it's cheaper) primarily because it's hard enough for me to convince myself or anyone else that I'm willing to pay somebody to do this to me on a semiweekly basis, and the thought of trying to explain to somebody, "I pay a woman to beat the living crap out of me every Wednesday morning on a schedule" is going a little bit too far for me. She has other services; she does massage, nutritional counseling, and something called "prenatal yoga" which in my mind is probably one of the funniest mental images ever. I'm about as qualified to comment on any of these things as I am to explain what, exactly, the difference between styles (styles?) of yoga are. Personally, I wonder if yoga masters ever get in conflict over whose yoga is the more relaxing yoga and face each other in yoga-offs. Somebody asked me if this was "hot yoga" and apparently my response of "I'm plenty hot by the end of it" was not correct. All she would need to do is put on some thigh high black leather boots, wear a corset and carry a whip. Then men would pay her 200 plus per hour to do exactly the same thing: torture them. Their are times during class when I f_ing hate yoga. The strange thing is that I somehow always feel better afterwards. Since I was 25 years old I have had a recurring problem pain in the left side of my neck. I could not turn my head to the left. A doctor diagnosed the problem as an inflamed muscle. I would get it 2-5 times per year and it lasted about 3-44 days. I used to have to treat it with Aleve and ice packs. No longer. Since I started taking yoga classes once a week I have had zero neck pain. That's about as good of an endorsement as I can give. Thanks Melonie.

One of the receptionists told me she had severe sciatica and that Dr. Scott had treated her very successfully so that was the reason, along with the 5-star ratings, that I went in. Dr. Scott took X-rays of my back, and a nurse measured the muscle tightness along my back which they forwarded to my email. I went in with severe sciatica being barely able to walk and in so much pain that I couldn't function. After the X-rays and muscle tightness exam he used some sort of a electro-mechanical hammer on my back which did nothing. I was released and told to put ice on my back. That's it: no adjustment, no instructions, no exercises. Nothing. I went home, put ice on my back as instructed and was in agony all night. I immediately went looking for another chiropractor. I found one and went the next day. They treated me and I immediately felt much better. As far as I can see Dr Scott did nothing to ease my pain. I picked the wrong chiropractor. After one visit to the second chiropractor, I am almost free of pain

Maybe, secretly I wanted to ensure I could always get a spot in class, but the word needs to get out. All of the instructors here are seasoned veterans with years of teaching pilates. They are not fad driven instructors that just know the moves, but also the impact on the body(no offense). Shanel, the owner, has a degree in sports medicine and a host of other trainings. I can literally walk in like a 5 year old and say "this hurts" and she is able to fix it. I primarily do the 6:00 AM, yes AM classes! I drag my butt out of bed, plunk down on a reformer and leave feeling amazing and sore, but usually more amazing. This is not an easy task and it is Shanel's professionalism and energy that motivates me to class twice a week when the alarm goes off at 5 AM (ugh AM). I have worked with Shanel on strength training, flexibility, injury recovery, etc. I have also witnessed, first-hand, the changes in many of my classmates who come in with lower back injuries etc. I reserve my classes online about a month in advance, so I'm no longer worried about others finding out my secret. Plus who else is a glutton for 6 AM punishment? I've been to a lot of other pilates studios in my travels etc and can honestly say Pilates Plus is top notch, the best, hands down the most informed and aware.

I was in intense pain daily, sometimes for days. I had severely limited my activities around it. Things as simple as walking, even. Structural Integration comes with a kind of rigid process, a price tag to match, and limited scientific evidence so it wasn't something I could really make the case for even a few years ago but I was at wits end and fed up with all the ways I was noticing this affected my life and I was largely out of options. And so, knowing all of that, I came to Melonie for Structural Integration. I have had a spectrum of medical and body work providers ranging from inept to expert. I am accustomed to reserving judgement and then being quick to part ways if I can confirm they are not a fit for me. There are practitioners who know what they were taught and only that. Then there are the really great practitioners who are able to apply the intricacies of what they were taught in ways that directly relate to the individual they are caring for to get results. Melonie is the latter. Expert, methodical, careful, knowledgeable and observant of the whole person. Every session, she honed in on exactly the things that needed attention and session over session, built on that progress. There were times during the process that were really vulnerable or painful and Melonie held space for that while maintaining forward progress. The end result of my series of structural integration sessions has so far been a much improved quality of life, more trust in my body, and more awareness of how my body moves and what supports it needs. Although I was improving over the course of the sessions, I have noticed continued improvements in the time following my last session. Aside from resolving my primary concern, it resolved issues I had no idea were related to/caused by the way my body was holding it's self. Very real resolutions that resulted in the ability to stop taking medication for a diagnosed issue that is just no longer there. I am so down in my soul relieved to have found something that works and brings sanity to my relationship with my body and I'm grateful to have landed on a practitioner I can depend on for help with this sort of thing.

I have been going to Stephanie for acupuncture fro a few…read moreyears and I always feel so relaxed and blissed out with her acupuncture. it also helps with whatever physical problem I am having. the staff at Discover Balance is always very friendly and helpful and my appointments are always on time. I like to arrive a few minutes early so I sit for a couple of minutes in the very pleasant waiting room and look at the lovely art and listen to the pleasant music as well as treat myself to a cup of herbal tea. I also attend the Mindfulness Meditation group and that is really great for mental calm and relieving any stress. the other group members are wonderful. The spa she created is…read morethe most wonderful space: float tanks, both dry and wet; infrared sauna; massage treatments; and, my personal favorite, acupuncture. Stephanie is an amazing therapist. I know I had blocked chakras after the death of my husband; I felt anxious, depressed, insecure, and emotionally unbalanced. Through weekly treatments, my anxiety and emotions were corrected. She even sent me home with little seeds glued to strategic points I could press when I became overwhelmed. I was so grateful. She also takes insurance, which was a big help for me. Cannot recommend her and her wonderful spa enough.
