About a year ago a slip down a hill during a hike landed me on my tail bone and with a pretty bad back injury. After trying many different things, including cortisone shots and an epidural, surgery was being recommended.
I was referred to Melonie by a friend who had suffered a neck injury in a car crash. He said Melonie got him out of severe pain and changed his life with structural integration sessions. Having never heard of structural integration but wanting badly to avoid surgery, I knew I had to give Melonie a whirl. I am SO GLAD I did!! As with my friend, Melonie did for me what all the other treatments had not, i.e. get me out my pain.
I describe structural integration as being like a massage, but with the "patient" actively participating. During my first session with Melonie she did a thorough assessment, both verbal and physical, of my entire body (what hurt and when it hurt, looking at how I was standing, bending, and sitting and how my legs were aligned, etc.). The assessment wasn't confined to just that first visit; each time we meet Melonie checks to see what my current situation is in order to determine what she's going to focus on during that session and how much structural integration work she needs to incorporate into her massage.
Aside from being phenomenal at massage and structural integration, Melonie really listens and and is extremely patient, kind, and encouraging;
I leave each session feeling better, physically, and uplifted, emotionally.
After only about six sessions with Melonie, I'm back to about 95% normal and am virtually pain-free. Needless to say, I will NOT be having back surgery. I WILL, however, continue to see Melonie on a regular basis in order to keep my back, and all the rest of my parts, aligned and in great working order. I cannot recommend Melonie highly enough. read more
