Root Canals: I required 2 root canals on teeth #s 24 & 25. I was referred to Dr. Shah, DMD who…read morespecializes in Endodontic by my dentist Dr. Tommy Turkiewicz, DMD. Both practitioners are located in Peachtree City, Fayette County, GA. I had no preconceived idea of what I might expect, as I have never had a root canal and those I do know that have had root canals (they) were done so long ago I was certain the procedure would be updated. When I walked into the Office, I was impressed by the waiting area which had a wonderful light & clean scent - NOT perfume & not medicinal, simply fresh. The seating area is tastefully appointed in soothing paint colors, pleasant artwork on the walls seasonal decorations (in this case miniature pumpkins, orbs, hand painted real pumpkins as well). I was also greeted by a smiling & friendly office staff who were prepared with my information in hand. I somehow forgot my referral paperwork to which they replied kindly they would contact Dr. Tommy's office on my behalf. It was the "kindly" that impressed me - no indication that they were inconvenienced by having to make the contact. An extraordinary response considering many times graciousness is not displayed in many customer/patient related environments. I felt comforted by their response. The Care, Quality, and Professionalism displayed & taken by Dr. Shah & his assistants was exceptional! Full & complete information about the procedure was given prior to any procedure work commenced. I was told it was going to be a 2-visit procedure, the chosen technology used and for what purpose. There were 2 televisions for viewing: one parallel to the chair and one on the ceiling. I asked if it was ok for me to listen to an Audiobook during the procedure, which was encouraged so long as I was able to hear any questions asked. After full mouth X-rays taken, I was seated and Novocain was administered. The reason I bring this up is in all my life never have I experienced such a painless administration of Novocain! The technique employed included redirecting pressure on my lower lip while brief injections were administered. I never felt a pinch!! Remarkable! Sunglasses were placed over my eyes so the lights would not bother me. Quite considerate! After the procedure was complete, Dr. Shah (whose assistants were gentle, worked seamlessly with Dr. Shah, communicated clearly and genuinely enjoy their team & profession) showed me the work he performed and his expectations for success. They all bid farewell and to call with any questions or concerns. I Made my 2nd appointment, which was brief & rescheduled for 18 months noting I need a follow-up appointment with Dr. Tommy to complete any dental work needed. Post-Root-canal: the area around my gums & teeth were tender, not excruciating, antibiotics & Tylenol were all that was needed after the 1st visit. I started antibiotics 2-days prior to my appointment and continue until completed. overall this was a relaxing and pleasant experience. Dr. Shah is caring and clearly understands his role as a professional as well as genuine patient care. Thank you!!

(Two uncles are dentists out of state, so I'm picky about who touches my teeth!) Was it comfortable? Not really, but it was much more comfortable than the last two I had done. Dr. shah was patient with me, continually checking on how I was mentally. He was constantly concerned about my well-being and dental anxiety, explaining what he was doing every step of the way. Thank you, Dr. shah!

I was referred to an Endodontic by my dentist because I had an abscess gum infection with pus…read morecoming down between teeth 11 & 12. The Dentist treated it with antibiotics but couldn't get rid of the abscess or infection. The endodontic would be able to treat the infection and examine the area though his microscope to see if I needed a root canal. I took the referral and my dental insurance information to Dr Rodrick L. Barden, South Atlanta Endodontic Specialists, and 1640 Phoenix Blvd. Atlanta GA 30309 on or about February 20, 2019 and explained why I was referred. They scheduled my appointment for March 21, 2019. (soonest appointment available). On March 1, I received a call from their office saying they now had several opens available. At that time, I ask as on other occasions, if I they going to look at the area though a microscope. The response was that's always part of the consult. On March 15 I went to South Atlanta Endondontics Specialists, Dr Rodrick L Barden office. I filled out the registration form and Medical and Dental history form. Wrote I had pus between teeth 11& 12. Told them several times that I had an abscess that the dentist could not get rid of. Dr. Barden came in, did some measurements. I asked if the abscess should be drained. He replied, "absolutely not." He then showed me the x-rays and said I had a Cervical Resorption on tooth 12 and I needed surgery to remove it.. He explained what it was and said he was not good at cervical resorption surgery and referred me to his friend Dr George Brown, Peachtree Endodontics. I said, "so I don't need a root canal?" His response was, yes you need a root canal. DR Brown will do the surgery and you come back here for the root canal. He gave me the referral for tooth 12 along with the 2 x-rays that were taken. After I got home, I looked at the x-rays and realized the resorption was also on tooth 11. I then emailed the x-ray to a Professor of Dentistry who confirmed that the cervical resorption is on teeth 11 & 12. I called Dr Barden's office that afternoon left message that the resorption seemed to be on 11& 12 and inquired whether he used the microscope in my exam. They did not return my call. I called Monday March 18 and spoke to the receptionist who went to see if Dr Barden could speak to me about my concerns. She returned and said he was with a patient and would called me when he was done. She also said your referral was only for tooth 12. My insurance company and I paid for this useless consult and x-rays with no microscope. I sent Dr Brown's office a copy of the referral and x-rays. Their consult fee is an additional $175. The surgery and root canals on two teeth instead of just tooth 12 another several thousand. Could be at least 3 thousand, maybe more but would not know until I came for the consult. They said the surgery and root canal would be done at the same time. There is no way I should have surgery there then drive to Dr Barden's office for root canals. South Atlanta Endodontics only seemed interested in getting my money and money from my insurance company. They took the money!! I believe I'm entitled to a refund. They did nothing but refer me to another Endodontic. Dr Barden of South Atlanta Endodontics has never returned my calls.

OPEN ON SATURDAYS!!!…read more Omg. YES!! and the fact that they do not charge you an arm and a leg to get in, for that dental office that is open an Saturday. Came in cuz hubby just had a tooth extracted (somewhere else) and by Saturday morning, we were afraid that the extraction site may have been infected. We found them via google search, and was pleasantly surprised to have only been charged $80 for them to x-ray, examine, and clean the extraction site. They also gave us this huge syringe like thing to use for cleaning his extraction site from home. That is SO cheap!! and oh, that is how much it is WITHOUT having to use dental insurance! I honestly thought it was going to be at least $150 just to see the dentist on a Saturday! We did not have an appointment, but we can in very early, and since there were no other patients in yet, they saw us right away. They were very nice and showed a great deal of care to us. I highly recommend.

I have had a frustrating experience transitioning to this practice…read more First, when I spoke to someone on the phone to schedule my initial appointment, I was told my first visit would include a cleaning. I arrive and then am asked to complete paperwork I already filled out online. Once I get to the back I am told we are waiting for the hygienist because they are backed up and then am told the cleaning won't happen and that I would need to come back in multiple weeks because the hygienist was going on vacation. I tell them that I was told by the person who set up my appointment that my cleaning would happen in the same appointment and then they say well they aren't the ones who schedule so can't be blamed. Y'all are the same practice so I would hope the right hand knows what the left is doing. Then when I go to pay and check out, I am told there is in fact an appointment the next day, which I take so I can get the cleaning that I was promised that day. During my initial appointment, I inquired about teeth whitening and was told that I should do my cleaning first and that it may be some time since the hygienist I was working with was preparing for time off. Again, when I went to pay and check out, additional charges were for my cleaning were added for toothpaste and mouth wash that I didn't ask for but made it seem like it was part of the process. Additionally, I was told there was in fact an appointment for teeth whitening the following week which I took. Now this is the real reason I am frustrated and why I am writing this lengthy review. I was told that it would take two hours for the process and it in fact took 3. The hygienist has multiple other things going on and took way longer between each 15 minute sessions to reset. She blamed me for not timing the bell and I in fact rang the bell but never got a response. During the whitening visit, I was supposed to get a whitening tray but they said they broke it and I would need to come back Monday morning (it was a Saturday) and it would be ready. So I come back Monday early afternoon on a work break and then am told they won't have it ready and that I should've called before coming even though the hygienist said it would be ready and I would need to pick it up. Once it is finally ready, I learn that I didn't even get all the materials I was supposed to get including a case and another hygienist apologized and gave me the orientation on how to use the whitening and soothing gel which should've been explained by my previous hygienist. Furthermore, its been two months since the cleaning. I feel like my teeth haven't whitened. The money and time and difficult process has made me question if it was worth the insurance and out of pocket expenses. Lastly, they asked for feedback and to share it with them before posting. I shared my feedback with no response so I am posting here. I will not be returning.
