Dr. Cook is very knowledgeable and will carefully explain the process of the treatment she provides. The office staff is also very friendly.

I was lured to Wheat Family Dental by their "$59 New Patient Special" for x-rays, exam & cleaning, which is a big deal when you don't have dental insurance. The office was nice and high-tech, they took very thorough x-rays (18 shots!), and I have no complaints about the hygienist. Then Dr. Williams came in for my exam. He didn't say anything about having anything wrong when he was looking at the digital x-rays but during the oral exam, he unceremoniously told me that I have 2 cavities. (I haven't had cavities since I was a kid!) The staff worked up a "treatment plan" of 2 resin based composite fillings which would cost $375. Something just didn't feel right. So I scheduled an exam with the dentist I'd seen the year before for a second opinion. I was honest with him about seeing another dentist, told him only that the other dentist (I didn't tell him who it was) saw "something" and that I wanted to know what he thought. He said, "Okay, I'll be extra picky", and then reviewed my chart, reviewed my x-rays from the year prior, and did an oral exam. He mentioned some exposed root areas I already knew about (but didn't recommend treatment if it wasn't bothering me) but didn't mention the words "cavity", "pre-cavity", "sticky spot" or anything that would even suggest even the beginning of decay. I then told him that the other dentist found two cavities and where he said they were. This dentist looked again. He said he saw some discolored spots, but nothing that the probe stuck to and definitely nothing, in his opinion, that needed a filling. In carefully wording his statement to avoid calling the other dentist a liar he said [totally paraphrased from my bad memory], "Hey, doing fillings puts food on the table, but there's no way I'd recommend filling those spots. I don't see them getting any worse, and while fillings are great when needed, I'd much prefer to let mother nature do the work -- she does a better job at it. You'd lose more enamel [from the prep work for the fillings] that would make filling something like that not worth it. I recommend just keeping an eye on it." So there you have it. I had a feeling that these "cavities" that Dr. Williams "found" were nothing more than a way to make money, and according to another dentist, I was right. If you are looking for a dentist you can trust and one who will not recommend unnecessary treatments, I absolutely cannot recommend Dr. Williams. I generally only write glowing reviews to reward good and honest businesspeople, and I am very sad to write a negative review of someone who, IMO, you cannot trust.
