A Dentist you can Trust -- He saved me $375 in unnecessary fillings! (Also, an especially fabulous…read morechoice for cash-paying patients!) When I first moved to Georgia and really didn't have any recommendations for a dentist, I'll admit, I initially let my pocketbook make the decision. Since I don't have dental insurance, I called a ton of dentists in the area and asked what an exam, cleaning, and x-rays would be for a cash paying patient. Much to my chagrin, most of the dentists in the area charged cash-payers exactly the same rate as they "charge" to insurance. For anyone who knows anything about the insurance biz, you know that this "charge" is negotiated way down by the insurance company and thus is far more than the dentist ends up being paid by insurance. When I called Carson and Moynahan, I was pleasantly surprised that their cash-paying rate was totally reasonable -- it was literally *half* of the cost one dentist's office gave me. Sold. I went and was pleasantly surprised by the condition of the office (clean and well-maintained). I was even more pleasantly surprised by the experience (17 years in the biz, I think?) and the quality of the hygienist, Jane. She was very passionate about oral health, and her enthusiasm got me flossing daily again! (Well, for several weeks, anyway... you know how that goes... :) Jane and her assistant were more thorough in doing and recording my gum exam (you know the thing where your gums get graded from 1 to 5?) than with any other dentist's office I've ever been to before. (I've lived in 6 states, so I've been to many dentists in my life.) Dr. Moynahan was great as well -- he did a thorough exam and was excellent and took his time in addressing all my concerns, which is a big deal to me. (I tend to ask doctors a lot of questions because I'm kind of a medical nerd.) I was charged exactly what I was told I would be charged when I asked over the phone -- no surprise extras. It was a great cleaning, but I really didn't think much of it afterwards because I've been blessed (knock wood) with teeth that haven't given me problems as of yet (asides from cavities that I only had in childhood). . . That is until today when Dr. Moynahan *really* impressed me. You see, in the time that lapsed since my visit with him, I was lured over to a dentist literally 2 minutes from me by a $59 "New Patient" deal for x-rays, cleaning, and exam. This dentist told me that I had *2* cavities and I was shocked -- it's been probably 20 years since I last had a cavity. My intuition told me that there was just something not right about the situation, so I decided that I would pay an exam fee to go see Dr. Moynahan for a second opinion. (The estimate I was given for two fillings PLUS the extra exam fee still ended up being less than having my fillings done at the other dentist, so having the second opinion done was an easy decision!) So I was honest upfront with Dr. Moynahan about seeing another dentist, but I didn't tell him who it was or what he said besides the fact that he found "something" and that "I want to see what you find". He said, "Okay, I'll be extra picky", and then reviewed my chart, reviewed my x-rays from the year prior, and did an oral exam. He mentioned some exposed root areas I already knew about (but didn't recommend treatment if it wasn't bothering me) but did not mention the words "cavity", "pre-cavity", "sticky spot" or anything that would even suggest even the beginning of decay. I then told him that the other dentist found two cavities and where he said they were. Then Dr. Moynahan looked again. He said he saw some discolored spots, but nothing that the probe stuck to and definitely nothing, in his opinion, that needed a filling. In carefully wording his statement to avoid calling the other dentist a liar he said [totally paraphrased from my bad memory], "Hey, doing fillings puts food on the table, but there's no way I'd recommend filling those spots. I don't see them getting any worse, and while fillings are great when needed, I'd much prefer to let mother nature do the work -- she does a better job at it. You'd lose more enamel [from the prep work for the fillings] that would make filling something like that not worth it. I recommend just keeping an eye on it." (Again, totally paraphrased from my non-dentist memory.) So there you have it. How one bad experience with one dentist led me to see what a gem of a dentist I already had.

I was involved in an altercation with a stranger and had three cracked front teeth. Being a businessperson and worried about first impressions, I was highly concerned if I would ever look "normal again". I received several root canals, crowns and dental implants. At first, again I was worried about how I would look until the porcelain permanent teeth were ready, but Dr. Kumar Patel created a temporary tooth that looked natural within only an hour and removed all anxiety with his work product and even his funny demeanor to make the operation without stress. I was shocked in a good way with his work product and also his prices. Dr. Kumar was very reasonable in every way. I will continue to use his services every few months for basic cleaning and maintenance.

Would not recommend going to this dentist.

I left a positive review when I first became a patient here, but unfortunately, a lot has changed…read moresince then. I originally came to Newnan Dentistry because I was experiencing pain in one tooth. They treated that tooth, but I was then told that I needed treatment on approximately 10 other teeth. Since then, nearly every tooth they worked on has caused me pain. More than a year later, I am still dealing with tooth pain every single day. After spending over $15,000 here trying to address these issues, I simply cannot afford to continue paying for treatment elsewhere to correct the problems. I eventually went to another dental office for a consultation and was told that there were concerns with the dental work I had received, particularly my most recent root canal. I was also advised by Newnan Dentistry to have my wisdom teeth removed in hopes that it would resolve my pain. I had them removed, yet the pain continued. I now deal with constant tooth pain in my ENTIRE mouth and frequent headaches. While I will say that the customer service here has always been amazing, my experience with the actual dental treatment has been completely different. I genuinely feel as though I was used as a guinea pig for months while trying to figure out why I continued to hurt. I trusted this office with my dental care and spent thousands of dollars trying to get out of pain, only to still be suffering more than a year later. Based on my personal experience, I cannot recommend Newnan Dentistry. This experience has caused me an incredible amount of pain, stress, and suffering that I continue to deal with every single day.

Then they said "luckily have an opening for me" and allowed me to have it. Second nonsense, the doctor do her check up without the cleaning been done. Never had that before, the doctor check up is supposed to be after the cleaning when he/she can have a better view to find any issue. They asked me to go to the waiting room to wait for my cleaning, I was called to get inside back again to discuss with their "sells representative". Since when you have to talk to a "car salesmen" before your cleaning, which is already covered by your insurance!. Their pitch was that I have to pay $1,500 after insurance for my cleaning..... I never had to pay for cleaning my teeth before, that's already covered by my insurance, after she sees my reaction, her first instinct was to offer me financial aid.... I refuse the treatment and left. After I went back home, I checked their reviews and confirmed that my reaction was right, they scam with deep cleaning and gingivitis to all their patients. Never had gingivitis, I have no issues with the teeth at all, I just needed a regular cleaning as always before with another dental groups. Now I had to look for another dental professional which can take the check up and X-rays they took already to get my regular cleaning at not cost out of my pocket. Avoid Aspen Dental, their professionalism is really in doubt, they had been instructed to bleed the patients as much as possible.

I looked at Emily and said "omg this is a dentist office why are you acting like this"? After the argument, I went back with dentist, she made me wear special glasses. I asked why. She raised a metal instrument, and said, "these are sharp tools so the glasses are to protect your eyes". I informed Sarah I've never been told to wear glasses so this was new to me. She informed me it's policy and I just have been given the glasses before. Dentist Sarah and assistant Kim took at least 10-15 X-rays, they couldn't get a good one. They were cutting the roof of my mouth from not being capable of positioning the X-ray tool. At that point I got up and told dentist Sarah I had zero confidence in her skills. She flipped it on me saying "if you can't cooperate that's your decision". I kept asking to get info for someone in charge and Emily kept saying "I'm the one you talk to". I told her someone has to be above her because someone signs your paycheck. She laughed again and gave me the other dr phone number. She escorted me out while shouting in a vulgar way "MERRY XMAS"!
