I've used him twice now! During early covid I decided to move into a new apartment that made wiring my left and right surround speakers impossible without being a massive eyesore. I called Will and asked if he'd be able to come and wire it for me. After I sent him the photos of my new space, he gave me instructions on how he would do it. He called and texted during and after to check how it went. He even refused payment! I was so happy with the way it came out I still sent him money for his help. Fast forward to this weekend I decided to upgrade my system by adding two atmos speakers. Great guys and very easy to work with. I had them install ceiling speakers in my dining room. They came out to look at the setup, got me a quote quickly and scheduled the work a day after I signed off...super easy. I met them in the morning at my house and when I got home the job was done and they didn't even leave behind a speck of dust. They managed to do the whole job, which included running a conduit outdoors, while only leaving a very small hole in the ceiling that was easy to patch. Great communication during the day as well. The only hiccup was that they sell a fairly limited selection of brands for things like speakers and amps. I had to replace the amp immediately because it wasn't a good match for my system and the speakers, while about half the cost of the ones I wanted, aren't quite as good as what I would've chosen myself. They seem more than happy to install stuff you buy though, they just won't support it if something goes wrong. I'd definitely use these guys again though. I am writing this review because I was truly, deeply, & sincerely humbled by the attention, time, & generosity that Will, the Speaker Guy, showed me over the last 2 days!! I had a very complicated technical problem: I had purchased a fancy electric king size bed & mattress just a few yrs ago from a very reputable store here in Los Angeles. It cost many thousands of dollars & has all the bells & whistles: remote control movement of the leg area of base, head area, massage control etc etc. The 2 remotes that came with the bed were horrible from the beginning. There's an issue with the batteries connecting to the connectors inside each unit & u wud always have to squeeze on the back battery cover area to get them to work. One would suddenly be impossible to get working; would use the other & usually that work out. Finally, a few months ago both became useless & I no longer had any control of my wonderful, expensive bed & its fabulous features. I called the bed store & they gave me the grim news that the company had discontinued making my exact box spring & the remotes for it. The salesman said he will try to research a way to find the same remotes on Ebay or how to find a universal remote that be programmed with its codes etc etc. He also said he will call the bed manufacturer for help. Weeks turned into 2 months & after many frustrating calls to the store, the salesman kept letting me down with no solution each time. I began calling electricians, appliance repair businesses, remote & home automation installers, you name it. None could help with either fixing the 2 remotes or finding me a solution. Finally, as I was worn down & giving up, I called Will, the Speaker Guy. He listened to my problem at length despite the fact that he was in the middle of another job when I called. He asked me to take a pic of the remotes' model/serial numbers from the inside battery cover along with a pic of the box springs' model numbers on their tags. He told me he will start researching that night but probably have any answers til the next day. Yesterday he called me & explained how he had spoken to many experts he knew in the universal remote field, as well as programmers etc etc & that remote is not IR signal & also could not be coded to use on any other remote... Then he gave me the good news: he had reached out to the manufacturer based on the East coast & gotten me all the info & pricing for a "conversion unit" that could be replaced in each of my 2 bed boxes, each coming with a brand new remote. This way I wouldn't have to replace my 2 boxes etc which cost me a fortune!! He texted me all the contact info for exactly who to call at the manufacturer, as well as all the specific serial & model numbers etc... AND... He had also cared enough to negotiate the best price for me having explained my unfair dilemma to the lady on the phone!! The price I will be pay for the new components & remotes is not much more than I was willing to pay to simply buy 2 new remotes or even have then fixed had that been possible!! I told Will I couldn't than him enough & asked him what I owed him for all the time, effort, research & phone calls & conversations he had just to try to solve my seemingly impossible & very overwhelming problem... & he surprised me by saying I owed him nothing & it was his pleasure to help me, though he was getting nothing out of this at the end of it all!! I was shocked & respected this man's good soul & work ethic so much that I insisted I would have to at least write an honest review here on Yelp so people can find a truly honest, dedicated, & extremely KNOWLEDGEABLE person you can TRUST with ANY electronic /appliance /home automation etc etc job that you may have!!! Here's to the wonderful smile & good feeling I got, from Will reminding me there are STILL some GOOD people in the world, who can care about a stranger in need... & actually go through a LOT of work & hassle... just to help... even when they KNOW there is nothing in it for them. So, I looked around for a little bit and had 2 or 3 places come out to look at my home, but wow, it was definitely out of my price range. I was pretty resigned to downgrading my expectations/wants when it came to home theater, but I kind of lucked into Speaker Guy by randomly googling/yelping/yellowpaging home automation. I thought I'd call one last time. Well, the owner came out and took a look at my place, and then gave me an estimate the very next day. They then started work the very same week and finished up in a matter of hours. They set up lighting control, climate control, multi zone audio all for around $3000!! Save yourself some time and don't bother looking around elsewhere. I'll tell you that the 2 other quotes I got from other companies were 50-100% more . . . and the speakers and equipment they were trying to push on me were garbage, according to cnet. Anyway, now I can play music throughout the house, dim my lights, and change temperature in my home all from a really cool looking LCD universal remote control. I can even use my Iphone to do this! They even set up different moods so when I wake up my morning music will play. or when I'm having a party there is a party mode button that plays my party music and dims the lights in some areas while keeping them in others.
