My family just moved to Ohio, we currently live in the town of Canal Fulton Ohio. Canal Fulton is a very lovely small town that has lots of charm and loads of heart. The thing I love the most about small towns are all the shops you can find in them and we came across such a place it was called Speekeasy Coffee. Speekeasy Coffee can be found on Eerie Street which runs through the middle of the heart of Canal Fulton. My wife and I were attending the Summer Concert Series @ St. Helena Heritage Park, when we decided that we wanted some coffee so we could be nice and jacked for the 90s/80s cover bands that were playing at the concert. So we walked over to Speekeasy Coffee which is located just minutes from the park, it was a lovely walk from the park to the coffee shop. We walked into the coffee shop and the first thing I noticed was the warm & cozy atmosphere that the decor was giving off, it's the type of coffee shop that you can come to everyday and you will feel like part of the family. Another cool thing they had was their own merch that you could buy like a very cool tumbler cup with The Speekeasy logo on the cup and they also sold stuff from local merchants which is always lit. I love to support local businesses they are always my cup of tea. My wife ordered the Purple Rain which was a white lavender mocha ice coffee served with whipped cream on top, then I ordered the white mocha ice coffee also served with whipped cream as well. Both drinks were very yummy in our tummies. They also serve muffins, snack cakes, and other types of pastries that you would usually find at your local coffee shop. They also have their own signature drinks, right now they are offering their Summer Drinks Menu which consists of Maple Donut Latte, Samoa Crunch Latte, Matcha Frappe, Strawberries n Cream Frappe, Peaches n Cream Frappe, and Blackberry Lemonade. Another cool thing that they offer at their shop is you can play board games, read some books from their small library and on Saturdays they have live music. The customer service was top notch as well. They also have a punch card for you to earn a free drink, all you have to do is get your card punched for 10 beverages and then you get your 11th one for free. So I would have to say that our whole experience of Speekeasy Coffee was great and they have made regulars out of myself and my wife. If you are looking for a great place to grab yourself a good cup of Joe, then I would check out The Speekeasy Coffee Shop located in the heart of Downtown Canal Fulton Ohio. read more

I'm in town for an annual ultramarathon held here. I found this place on Yelp and walked over from the nearby park. The ladies working here are so friendly! It's a bright, comfy place to enjoy a drink and a bite to eat. There's free WiFi and my breakfast bagel sandwich hit the spot. I came in this afternoon around 4:30 pm for a coffee. Two of my kids were with me and one coffee turned into four, with 2 muffins to go as well. I forget about my punch card and go next door to the chocolate store. Within 10 minutes we go back next door because I want my punches. I got four drinks! My punch card had only one spot to go before a free drink. I told the girl behind the counter about what happened and I explained I didn't care about the free drink. I just wanted my four punches and another card to start more punches. This girl looks at me with no emotion and says I can't do that, we don't do that. I repeated myself and explained that the card was only a month or so old and that I always get another one. I also said that there have been many times where you guys play games of do we or do we not have them. I said again I wanted my punches. You could tell she didn't care at all, she didn't want to help me or listen. I ended up just demanding that she give me the one punch to finish my card and I left empty handed with another. I have been a loyal customer here since it opened. My kids have basically grown up with me coming here. The original owners and staff were always so friendly and helpful. They would go out of their way! Now, I have seen it be sold off to others and it has only been going downhill since then. Drinks are more expensive, cookies are smaller and more expensive, the muffins are a different recipe, and the staff has gotten worse. They seem to change what they sell and rearrange furniture every month. It's makes me sad that the new owners are letting these things happen. They definitely need to hire better staff. I will not be suporting this coffee store anymore. read more

After a day of driving around Cleveland, my mom and I got home pretty beat from the long day. On our way home we both were craving some cold to drink. Since Speak Easy was on our way home and it was still light out, we thought we'd stop in for some frappes. We were able to get a parking spot right in front of the store and were greeted by the staff. The staff was very friendly and offered to make our drinks in "for-here" cute Mason jars. The drinks were delicious and sitting outside in the sun with our drinks definitely picked up our mood. The prices are great, the staff is friendly, and they have a rewards program (!). Met a good friend at this coffee bar to do some planning. Early afternoon in the middle of the week and there were a few people working their laptops, etc...It is a nice place...what would be described by one noted author as 'a clean well lighted place' (its a contest to know who that is). The menu of coffees etc was the usual. The Americano I had was a bit too watered down, but was still good. Highly recommend this spot for casual conversation and caffeine. read more

I am not a coffee drinker but I do drink tea and am addicted to chai tea. The Speak Easy is my go to coffee shop when I am being lazy and don't want to make my own. They can be a little heavy handed on the flavored sweeteners but you can ask for less (I think they use 4 pumps in a large). They also have live music on Saturday nights; however, I have yet to attend. It's always great to support local small businesses. read more

Have you tried their iced coffee or decaf americanos? Seriously it's the best I've ever had. The rest of their drinks are fantastic too. I highly recommend it! Also, the atmosphere is so nice for getting work done or just hanging out with a friend or two. And their Saturday night live music is always fun. read more

Ive been going to this coffee shop for 2 years and the first thing that got me to come back was the high quality espresso and coffee beans they use to make all of their drinks. Since the perfect cup of coffee is so relative i appreciate their willingness to customize drinks and are patient with special requests. The space is very comfortable and relaxed and there is always someone friendly to talk to. what to order? i highly recommend their iced cold brewed coffee and dirty chai. read more

Speakeasy Coffee is located in historic downtown Canal Fulton in the Union Block Building. In addition to excellent coffee, our menu includes custom espresso & specialty drinks, teas, smoothies, lemonade, delicious sweets, and breakfast or lunch sandwiches! We are excited to be a destination where guests can gather for business, study, and the happenings of life. Like the original speakeasies, we hope the words of our visitors spread our reputation.

History

Established in 2015.

We first opened in May of 2015 in hopes to provide a safe, peaceful, inviting place in town for people to meet with friends and family to build relationships through "coffee and conversation." We pride ourselves on making high quality drinks and pastries, and providing service to our customers by treating them like friends! While maintaining the consistency of what's good, we will always continue to work on improving. We hope to see you soon!

Meet the Business Owner: Orchard Hill Church C.

Back in 2015, our church launched Speakeasy Coffee with a simple question to our community leaders: What would bring 'good news' to our downtown area? Their resounding answer: a coffee shop. And so, Speakeasy was born! Today, it stands as a welcoming space for people from all walks of life to gather and connect in our community and beyond.

I was granted my refund and I thought Debbie and Ernie handled this situation as best as possible. Did not hear anything back so Friday I drove 40 minutes to the tea room to see what was going on. Instead of an apology I received hostility from the manager, Taylor. Right off the bat she lies to my face claiming she called my number (she did confirm the number) and talked directly to me. Obviously not, I would have been aware of a direct conversation. So then she changes and says she left a voicemail. To which I pull out my phone and show her the call log on my phone and I have zero record of a call or a voicemail coming from the tea room. To which she replies "sorry your phone doesn't work." Clearly we weren't getting anywhere and I ask to talk to the owner, who I'm told "isn't here." After false accusations from Taylor saying I went into the dining room and cussed in front of children I decided enough was enough and left. Loudly. I am aware of that and I fully admitted that to police. Definitely was not appropriate however I was quite heated at the time. Long story short I end up calling the police since she is refusing to let me cancel and get a refund. "If you wanted a refund you should've canceled 60 days ago." Wow. Come to find out the owner was there the whole time. Poor management on both their parts. They eventually agreed to a refund. Owner calls my mom yesterday and attempts to cover for Taylor. Respectfully, a family member dying is no excuse to treat your customers like crap. My own father passed away and I took time off work because I could not deal with the public. We did receive a refund and the owner made sure to comment on my 1 star review I left. Yes I left a rather polite negative review. Customers are entitled to do that after a less than satisfactory interaction. So thank you Dragonfly Tea Room & Gift Shop for effectively ruining my bridal shower for me. What could've been a quick apology for miscommunication turned into hostility and lies. My family has already said we will not ever be returning here. Please feel free to call my mother again if this post upsets you.

I just absolutely have loved Swenson's since I've been introduced to it. However, it's amazing on a…read moregood day and then on a bad day, well it's a costly loss. It seems every time I have an order of food for more than one person, the order always gets botched. Typically I stop alone for myself and I have no issues, but when I am getting food for a group of people (4 people worth of food) it's always messed up. Tonight's order was a little messed up, thankfully we noticed before we drove too far missing food from our order, but then assuming the food they were bringing us to fix the mistake was correct, getting home and it was just a mess. When you pay for a double loaded cheeseburg where every add on costs a price, and end up with a single cheeseburg with half slice of cheese and so much ketchup the bread was mush. Costed us a loss in money. Fries were cold and stale, seems like this food was previously made for someone else before we even ordered and then given to us. At that point, you don't want to drive to the same restaurant 3 times when you're hungry so we are dealing with it today but about $5 loss in food and reconsidering coming here for larger orders aside from a one person order. I hope this locations steps up their game cause it'd be a shame to lose it from bad quality and lesser customers because of it. I really like Swensons and typically crave it from time to time, so I would like for our community to enjoy it without terrible quality and losing money.

Walking into the parlor of the Monastic Home is like walking into one of those cozy "oldies playing another room but it's raining outside" YouTube videos, except that it's real. Between Hannah's excellent decorating skills (tip: everything you see is for sale!) and the mix of 1930s and 1940s music humming in the background, it's impossible not to settle into a chair and make yourself at home. The hostess of the home, Hannah, is just as equally warm & welcoming. Hannah offers a unique and delicious array of pastries and sandwiches. My cousin and I just about took one of everything; our favorites were the olive oil loaf (trust me, it's good!), raspberry jam bar, and Scottish shortbread. We also ordered lattes with a syrup recommended by Hannah. This is most definitely a spot to come when you want to curl up with a good book and are craving the comfort of home - it's embedded in the Monastic Home's decor & baking and hospitality of Hannah and her family.
