The adoption process was pretty simple the only thing that was rough was that we had to take him home the same day, so I had to leave him home alone while I was at school the next morning. They have a lot of cat options there and it's nice bc you can go into the rooms and meet them! Love my Tigger

They paired me with my new best friend!! I recently adopted my first cat from the SPCA and every step was great. The volunteers in the cat area were friendly and helpful, the paperwork was easy, and I got a new best friend out of the deal. The whole shelter is clean, volunteers and workers can be seen caring for the animals throughout your visit weather its cleaning, taking some dogs outside for walks, or speaking to potential adopters. they're doing great work here.

Thank you so much SPCA. I Adopted Quest (formally known as Choochi) a week ago and he has been such a joy. This place does such a good job placing animals in permanent homes. They do a comprehensive wellness check and identify any issues to prospective owners. Quest was everything I had hoped for in a new pup. Highly recommended.

This organization is awesome and does a great job caring for their animals. The staff was helpful and friendly. Lots of commotion going on but they handled it well! The best way to do it is make and appointment, go in, and ask all your questions there. The girl and women that helped me pick out a rabbit were awesome and they let me hold whatever one I caught my interest and I couldn't thank her enough for that because I got to bring home cookie! He is so sweet. At first he hid under my bed and was thumping his feet but by the night he was out playing and doing binkies!!! Not only that but the dogs they have here are so awesome! I got to meet prince at the front desk and he even shook my hand. I had a great experience here and am so happy with cookie. Thank you all for making this happen!!

$1,000 to adopt a dog? People are looking to rescue pups, not buy a designer dog here. I asked if the adoption fee would be lowered after he's inevitably there for longer than others, they said no.... What a way to make sure a sweet dog doesn't get adopted.

I have a baby bunny that I feel horrible for having to give up but I am not able to take in a pet so soon after my dog had to be put down ? Will you have a place for him to get adopted?

Hi Shannon. Yes, we can take your bunny! Please call our main number 727-586-3591 x 166 and set up an appointment so we know when to expect you. We can also answer any questions you may have.

Can I return three cats that I obtained from SPCA Tampa Bay about 10 years ago as I am no longer able to care for them?

Yes you can. You must make appointment. They might not make it out of shelter alive. You are not…

The odor in the dog area is overwhelming, reminiscent of decay, making it unbearable for visitors. My sister and I found it impossible to remain in that section due to the repugnant atmosphere. In stark contrast, the cat area was the only part that appeared to be maintained (reason for one star). It is disheartening to see the staff, many of whom were idly seated at computers, failing to address the needs of the dogs. Shame on animal control for denying this dog a compassionate owner. Also, this potential adopter went immediately to the park when she saw the dog had been abandoned and told Animal Control that she would adopt and provide all needed care for the dog. This has broken the hearts of everyone who was worried about this dog and were prepared to donate towards any needed costs of care.

Between the puppy teething bites, sled dog walks, terrorizing the mailman, and little dog ego, we knew we needed help. We called Sharon with BarkBusters, and she is an absolute game changer. At home training, No treats, No Tricks needed. Our furbaby is 6lbs of fierceness, and like his dad he wants to establish dominance in everything he does, including over our 2 cats and the entire household. In just one visit, Sharon taught us to think like a dog and how to lead the pack. Learning how to actually say NO in a language dogs understand has been groundbreaking for us. We've had dogs before, but we learned more in one session with Sharon than we did in a lifetime on our own. The future is so bright for our puppy Oliver, and we have Sharon and Barkbusters to thank for that!

The first day of training made an IMMEDIATE, huge difference; we were shocked and thrilled. The black lab was incorporated into the training too. She talked plainly with us and was realistic about interventions we would and would not be able to make for the dogs.
