However, I feel that in comparison to some of the other libraries that they have a lesser selection of books, which is a bummer. But, you can just request books from other locales to be sent to you. Also, if I'm not mistaken, there are large room that are used for educational purposes, classes and the like.

I visit this library at least once a week, if not twice, and everyone on staff there is friendly and welcoming (props to Mr. S especially!) This place is tricked out. Wifi available, plenty of computers, reasonable hours (no Sundays since the '09 budget cuts, sadly), and good selection of magazines; what more could you want? The facility and its bathrooms are clean and well maintained. It has self-checkout, and a 'help yourself' shelf for your hold items. The only thing I might ask for is a bigger selection of titles at this branch. Often, newer books are only in the bigger branches. But hey, I guess that is what the iPhone catalog app for placing holds is for!

Capital View library is really a great library for its size and the size of the neighborhood…read more It is almost always quiet, and patrons tend to be respectful of the sound level, and one another's space. With the exception of children and some adults in the front entry / lobby, as they go up and down the stairs to the children and teens area upstairs. There are many comfortable seating options if you have a lot of work or reading to do. The staff are always helpful and friendly, and there are a surprising number of computers available for a library of this size. The upstairs floor is only for children and teens & the space is really bright and cheerful, inviting. They have a separate large computer lab with at least 10 computers, but I think it requires a group reservation. They also have a very large conference room that would comfortably host 40 people. There are a lot of community & library events and committees and organizations that meet here. The library has a lot of active community members on their friends of the library team, as well as other groups. Since so much space is dedicated to the computer lab and large conference room, the three study rooms are frequently booked ahead of time ... but they are very nice, clean and spacious. The restrooms are pretty clean and don't require a key from the desk. The library also has a water bottle filler .

Great library and community resource!…read more Just what this neighborhood needs. I am a bookworm and love myself some libraries....not to mention, an avid reader and enjoy the nostalgia of "physical" books! Not the digital stuff! I stopped by this library by happenstance because I had an overdue book in my trunk and the thought hit me to return it, when I noticed this location while passing through this neighborhood --- trying to follow Google Maps short cut route home during rush hour. I must say I was impressed. Although, the library collection is limited, there are tons of free resources, internet and computer services available for both adults and kids living in this neighborhood that may not otherwise have access to these types of resources. The facilities is small and you will not be overwhelmed as you are exploring their collection. Also, this library is very quiet, well organized and is great for serving as a study or meeting place for groups given there is low foot traffic. The staff are very helpful as well. They were very accommodating to my super late book return and I was happy to know that there were no fees. It was my first time visiting this library and I enjoyed my time here. Time well spent to say the least...and who knew?!....I was able to kill some time in this library instead of being stuck in rush hour traffic. I co-sign and recommend this great community resource!

A Great Resource for ALL!…read more This library is simply, a gem. It often gets overlooked between the hustle and bustle of the congested, busy Oxon Hill Road traffic and slue of neighboring businesses. As an avid bookworm and lover of books, I've seen this library many times while on my commute riding home but today I was off and decided to stop by and venture in. Although not much to look at on the outside, I must say I was impressed with the interior of the library and its collection. Although the collection of books are small compared to other libraries around, they were still relevant and current. What makes this library special is that they have a huge collection of African-American history and literature..... actually, as I learned from the head librarian, it is one of the largest collections of African-American history books and literature in the Washington DC area. I spent some significant time and this section of the library and really enjoyed it. Lots of knowledge and artifacts for the avid readers and knowledge seekers. I also couldn't help but notice a community puzzle that was laid out on a table that was really cool! I even added a couple of the missing pieces myself and found it to be very cathartic--relaxing. In all, neighborhood libraries can be a bit of lost nostalgia, but I find these resources to be very important in today's digital world. It's great to step into a space and actually feel, read, engulf yourself into reading materials as oppose to glaring screens and tablets. I highly recommend stopping by this library and giving it your patronage. It is open to all, whether you are a DC or Maryland resident. The staff is truly knowledgeable and seemed very happy to help with my questions/requests. The facilities is fully Wi-Fi enabled and can service a great stop for quick teleworking. It's the historical reference for me about this library and the vast collection of African-American literature that makes this place a stand out. They will even go back to the old collections and pull something out for you. They even have a wide variety of events, programs, including educational programs and lectures. And if they don't have what you are looking for, they can order it from another library and have it brought in for you. Not to mention, your library card gives you full access to digital materials and a library service called Libby, which contains just about anything you would find both old and current in any bookstore for free. I definitely recommend a stop by to this library. I have something for all ages. Enjoy!

Comparing PGCC to the 4-year university I'm at now makes all of the problems I previously had with…read morethem insignificant. Yes, their nursing program was over-saturated (too many applicants, not enough advisors), but it ran like a well-oiled machine regardless. In my current school, my advisor registered me late and almost signed me up for a course I'd already taken, which I had to find out for myself halfway through the semester. They didn't depend on me to supervise every step of every transition like switching majors the way other universities do. Soooo much information is available in your student portal that I almost never had to step foot in the admin hall (though as a new student, navigating their sites was like entering a labyrinth). I was shocked to learn having a waiting list was not a universal thing and they actually notify you once a spot opens, as opposed to my current school who makes you log in and check several times a day... every day... and then still gives unspecific error messages. They use Canvas which has SIGNIFICANTLY less issues than Blackboard. Yes, I have had some troublesome professors but every issue was handled beautifully by the administration, and even so it only came to this point twice. Some of the best teachers I've ever had the blessing to encounter are tucked away in here. I miss my professors, my peers, the atmosphere, I miss everything! I'm honestly considering dropping my Bachelor's just to go back to PGCC and finish my ADN. When it comes to college, bigger is not always better. PG is not perfect but they were deemed best school in MD to get your RN for a reason.
