I need to work remotely today, and working from Starbucks has kind of run its course. I would give this public library a score of 10 out of 10 in terms of all of the things that are important when you are working remotely. It's modern and even the tables and chairs are up-to-date and comfortable. I would say this library has to have been constructed within the last ten years. It's quiet and there's no loud cafe music, which is surprising. There's a 7-11 right across the street, and this important for the most I vikis reasons. I e already been here three hours, and I will probably stay here until 6pm. I will see how the day goes and I am already thinking to make this a spot for me.

Aside from having plenty of books,…read morenewspapers and magazines, they also have DVDs, printers, Internet access, meeting/study rooms, a fantastic amount of online services like newspapers, movies, Ancestry.com, childrens area, etc. When they are not too busy being a library, they also collect voting ballots, distribute COVID tests and masks etc. This location is fantastic, steps from the Metro. And they have great hours.

Even with the old-world feel, the space is bright and cheery. The staff is a little more hands-off than other locations but I've never encountered anyone rude when I've had questions. I've attended the Tuesday toddler story/music time here and it gets pretty crowded...more so than at other libraries. I'm glad that they offer so many activities such as this, but it can seem a little disorganized. They do a great job with children's programming throughout the year (we made snow globes at an evening craft session for kids which was a big hit!). Bathrooms: located on the top floor (children's room) and bottom floor, so a bit of a hassle if you are planning on sticking to the main floor.

Or rather, I should say the selection of books was not a vast as I would have liked. However, I managed to find a couple of decent reads. I'll also say that the layout is a bit confusing, but it's nothing too outrageous. There is a parking garage across the street; however, you have to pay with the exception of Sundays. Call me old fashion, but I think a public library should have free parking for its patrons. But hey, I guess different rules apply when you are in a more urban environment.

The selection of books are quite limited, so I am wondering if there will ever be more added to the collection anytime soon. There are several computers you can also use with an ID, either to check your email or to play online games. Capital View library is really a great library for its size and the size of the neighborhood…read more It is almost always quiet, and patrons tend to be respectful of the sound level, and one another's space. With the exception of children and some adults in the front entry / lobby, as they go up and down the stairs to the children and teens area upstairs. There are many comfortable seating options if you have a lot of work or reading to do. The staff are always helpful and friendly, and there are a surprising number of computers available for a library of this size. The upstairs floor is only for children and teens & the space is really bright and cheerful, inviting. They have a separate large computer lab with at least 10 computers, but I think it requires a group reservation. They also have a very large conference room that would comfortably host 40 people. There are a lot of community & library events and committees and organizations that meet here. The library has a lot of active community members on their friends of the library team, as well as other groups. Since so much space is dedicated to the computer lab and large conference room, the three study rooms are frequently booked ahead of time ... but they are very nice, clean and spacious. The restrooms are pretty clean and don't require a key from the desk. The library also has a water bottle filler .

It's right next to the Eastern Market Metro near Barracks Row and the actual historic Eastern Market. It's in a single building and most of the collection is on the ground level. They have DVDs, music, books and a decent children's section. They have wifi and computers to use if you need them. The bottom floors houses the bathrooms and once a month, they sell bargain books down there.

Like other reviewers have pointed out, the computers are popular, so opt for a laptop if you've got one. I've always had good customer service here, and I'm usually just popping in for some quick read or a DVD right after work. They also have seminars, discussions, family programs, workshops, tax forms, etc downstairs. DC library in general: I also like to go to the website and reserve DVDs in a series in order to place on hold. Just remember when you pick up your DVDs to get them "unlocked" so you can actually watch them. And you can only renew them once. Also, MLK central library has the best selection of everything, but it's definitely a more urban library, and this place just has a nice neighborhood feel. **Correction on the hours: due to budget cuts, the library is CLOSED on Sundays. The rest of the hours remain the same. (MWFSat 9:30am-5:30pm, TTh 1-9pm) For those of us who work traditional 9-5s, I will see you Tuesday/Thursday night.
