They used to have great empanadas too but the tacos are soooo good. And they have great salsa to go along with them. They sell some beverages like Topo Chico, apple juices, and Jarritos. I have only had one weird interaction here with a staff member, I asked for a pump of mocha syrup in my cold brew and they basically said it was a dumb idea because it wouldn't mix. I have had that in several cold brews at several different well established coffee shops in Chicago and it's delicious when you need a sugar boost. The barista did it but he also shared it didn't make sense. It was uncomfortable. But I didn't let that mar my experience. I still have continued to order my beverage with that barista. Also they have a great mural in the back.

I chose an 8 oz drink, because caffeine and I do not always get along. When I saw the "courtesy cup" size, I thought, "That can't be 8 oz." But, it was, and the cups were on the top of the glass case to show how large they were. It was the right size drink for me. The "courtesy cup" size reminded me of the days in Gahanna, Ohio, whenthere was some kind of privat battle between little BBF fast food place and big McDonald's. I liked BB, and I didn't understand why McDonald's won and BBF went away. They both had courtesy cups for children. Milkshakes were huge. My mother poured some of hers into two courtesy cups, one for my sister, and one for me. Keep your courtesy cup size, Cals. Julie

It's the kind of place where you can enjoy a coffee, catch up with friends, or simply sit and unwind. The coffee was really good, and there are plenty of options beyond the usual drinks. The food and pastries are also a nice bonus if you're looking for a light breakfast or snack. What I particularly loved was the overall vibe--bright, spacious, cozy, and very Chicago. It feels like a neighborhood coffee shop that has become a destination in its own right. Overall, a great spot for coffee, breakfast, people-watching, or just taking a break while exploring Wicker Park. Definitely worth stopping by if you're in the neighborhood!

I don't think I've ever seen this many syrup flavors in one place. There's no seating inside since it's mainly a retail shop, but there's a bench outside. I also loved seeing how inclusive the space is with Pride flags throughout the shop. The Cross Cross Apple Sauce Latte (9/10) was nutty, not too bitter, and had the perfect amount of sweetness. I was expecting more apple, but it actually tasted more like vanilla with a subtle apple flavor. Still super good and honestly impressive for a latte this huge.

A bag also comes with a free coffee - I ordered a hot one, which tasted delicious! My only note is that the cup was filled so high that despite conservative driving, it made a mess in my cupholders (so say nothing of the hot coffee I spilled on my hand). The prices are steep, with the bag of beans costing ~$20. However, for something produced in small batches and roasted so fresh you can smell the beans on your way in, this is fully understandable. Final verdict: In my opinion, Dark Matter coffee beats out the coffees available at the grocer's. It's pricy, but worth it for a great cup of Joe! Would recommend?: If you're okay with bolder coffee, absolutely. Would return?: You bet, I need coffee to function, and it's hard to go back to cheap generic coffee after having something better.
