Skip in my opinion is a life saver. I know when I go to him for car repair I'm not going to get ripped off. He's honest, efficient, and just plain a nice guy. He knows his stuff. read more

If I could put a minus sign in front of the Stars I would. When I got my vehicle back from them it was running exactly the same or even worse than when I took it in. When I voiced my complaints to sparky he was rude made me feel like I was asking too much and they never fixed the problem. So I had to take it to another mechanic spend close to $400 more besides the three that I spent with him and come to find out they put parts on my car from a fish tank and totally messed it up, they do not stand by the work that they do and are rude when you want the problem fixed! So this auto mechanic gets no stars from me no recommendation from me and I suggest people do not go to them for their mechanical needs, read more

Skip will take great care of you and does quality, honest work that won't break the bank. He's straight forward and honest, will give you pointers and might just teach you a thing or two about your vehicle you didn't even know about. read more

Excellent service. Tuneup job was completed in a day at a great price. Recommended him to two friends with electric issues already and will tell more. read more

Fixed both my headlights on 2015 GMC. Glad to be on the road again. Skip knows what he's doing. read more

Skip at Sparky's Auto Electric has gone above and beyond % satisfaction and I've never been able to say that about any auto technician before. I will definitely check with you first before I go anywhere else. read more

Not reliable. The shop's at his house, and when you show up to get your car fixed, there's a good chance no answers the door, and he doesn't answer the phone. I think he screens his calls through his answering machine a lot, so you may get no answer the first time you call him too, but don't be surprised if you get no answer at the door as well, when you think you're dropping off the car. read more

Skip, sole proprietor of Sparky's was referred to me by a trusted friend. I needed installation of a proprietary piece of auto navigation and multimedia hardware, and none of the shops I consulted would touch it due to perceived liability. I met with Skip and he was up to the challenge. He not only did a thorough job in a timely manner, but explained everything to me and charged a little over a third of the highest bid I had gotten (before I was waved off). And exactly half of the lowest bid I had gotten (again before being waved off). I found Skip to be down to earth, honest, fair, and a straight shooter. I will be taking my auto/truck repairs and mods to him moving forward. I recommend you do to. read more

Capt. Ron - Portland Cert. Hello, I have used Skip's business for several years, going back at least 10 years. I found that he is extremely knowledgeable when it comes to auto electric problems. He has always been very accommodating concerning working on the problem. I certainly recommend Sparky's Auto Electric, and he's great to deal with. read more

I don't know why it has taken me so long to write this review. If there is one business in Oregon that deserves a true 5-star Yelp rating it is Sparky's. A couple of years ago my car spontaneously imploded when we pulled into the garage. It became possessed. We turned it off but the engine kept running. We took out the key, but the engine kept running. There was smoke pouring out of the hood and screeching noises filled the air but you guessed it, the engine kept running. In a panic I used my phone to google auto service shops in the area. It was night time on a Saturday and I didn't expect to have any luck but I somehow came across Sparky's and called. Skip calmly walked my husband through how to get the engine to shut off. Then he told us to have the car towed to his garage and that he'd start working on it right away. We did just that and within about an hour we met him in person. Not only did Skip start working on our car immediately after drop off, but he called us back in less than 2 hours and said that it was ready to go! We couldn't believe it. It was almost 9 p.m. When we went to go pick up the car we were even more shocked to learn that the price for the services was so incredibly reasonable that we felt like we were robbing him! He even gave us the receipt for the part he had picked up from NAPA. No mark up! Can't recommend Sparky's enough. read more

My only gripe is that he no longer does mobile repairs. I had an F350 that needed a new starter, but I would have had to tow it over there to get repaired. Other then that he has done a great job on multiple vehicles and I've saved a bundle in repair costs vs. going to the dealership. read more

Super nice guy, fit us in on a Sunday, He narrowed the problem with our car down to three different options, which he presented to us in order of cheapest to most expensive. This is - seriously - the first time in my life I've been given real options by a mechanic. The last few times we got tune-ups, we went to the Wilsonville Toyota dealership, who apparently just took our money without checking the spark plugs & wires (which were disgusting & falling apart.) We'd been going to the Wilsonville dealer for years to do tune ups - apparently, they've been taking our money for years & not doing anything. Finally, our Camry threw up the check engine light & stopped being able to, you know, accelerate. Uh oh. Lesson of the day: Wilsonville Toyota sucks, this place is great. PS. When you call, somebody actually picks up. A miracle! read more

Awesome service! Awesome prices! Incredible speed! You cannot find a better guy to diagnose & repair your ride! I took my car in because the alternator was shot. At least that was my guess. He confirmed it gave me an estimate and said to expect a call from him within a couple hours. 45 minutes later he calls me up and says it's done. The problem was my ride wasn't gonna be back for another 2 hours. Well because of that and the fact he wanted my car out of his way. He came and picked me up. I live pretty close to him so it wasn't like across town or anything. And my car was in the way of him being able to work on 2 others in his driveway. But still. He went the extra mile for a guy he didn't even know. You gotta respect that! I wouldn't expect the ride service unless you drop a dead car in the middle of everything like I did. But everything else is just the way he does business. Honest, fast, dependable! You won't find a better guy in this town! read more

Skip provides fast, honest and expert service. I have used him twice now and have been blown away by his great rates too. He lets you choose or bring your own parts and the ones he provides he doesn't charge a markup on! Seriously, THIS is how the automobile repair experience should be! read more

Amazing service! We (barely) rolled into our hotel parking lot with our alternator going out at 9pm THANKSGIVING night. I called Skip, expecting to leave a voicemail, but he answered and said send the car right over! I had AAA tow it over to Skip at midnight and he was there to receive it. Unbelievable! He had the alternator replaced and the car ready to go by 10:30 the next morning, at a very reasonable price! I only wish Skip was in the Puget Sound area so I could use him all the time. Thanks Yelp and thands Skip! 5 stars all the way! read more

Skip has been working on my 2003 Hyundai tiburon with frame damage for 2 years, now. Professional, no BS kind of guy. Occasionally it takes a few phone calls to reach him, but he'll get back to you (he's busy). Fair price on all repairs, no upselling, just hard licensed and bonded work. Warranties all his repairs and has gladly checked my vehicle at no charge when o was paranoid about sounds/needing more work. read more

I've never received such kind, flexible and knowledgable service until meeting Skip! He absolutely knows what he's doing and is very straightforward which is incredibly refreshing due to my past experiences with evasive corporate mechanics. My timing belt on my 2000 Honda CRV went out today on my way down canyon and he let me tow my car straight to his shop even though he was booked solid back to back all day today not to mention he still managed to replace my timing belt, water pump and my deteriorated engine mount all by 6pm the same day! If you're going anywhere else you're fucking up! read more

As a woman who doesn't know much about cars, other mechanics have tried to tell me everything in the book is wrong with my car, must be fixed immediately and at great cost. Skip, however, has been honest with me, telling me what really needs repair, what will probably need fixing down the road, and what can be tolerated indefinitely. His prices very reasonable and he does great work. I drive out of my way to take my business to him. read more

I am so impressed with Skip. I called on a Thursday afternoon, panicking because I had just received an astronomical quote from Les Schwab, and desperately needed my car to be in working order for the upcoming weekend. I was able to drop my car off at 7pm, pick it up an hour later, fixed, for almost $200 less than what Les Schwab quoted me. I am so amped to have found a good, trustworthy local mechanic. I will definitely be back. read more

2 recent calls to Skip with voicemails included 2 weeks apart. No callback either time. He had done some work for me 8+ years ago. Seemed efficient then. He does appear to have a good knowledge based on direct experience accrued. Perhaps he was out of town, immobilized, or just not interested. Professionalism and accountability are suspect, but typical of lone wolves with no storefront and the necessity of keeping up appearances. I had to look elsewhere, but did want to support the independent fringe operator. MG read more

Basically i Paid him a lot of money to fix my lights. First "fix" lasted a day. Next "fix" lasted a little longer. Hasn't been there last THREE times i went by. Buyer beware. read more

I called this company as a new customer, during the office hours stated on the internet, which stated 24 hour service, the owner answers the phone at 9;50 am on a Sunday, and was downright rude. He began lecturing me about how I should not have called at 9;45 am, even though he is too lazy to switch his hours on the internet for all of us new customers. So he proceeds to tell me to call monday after 10;00 am,, but, before he said to call the next day, he rudely asks me," what can i do for you?" the next day monday morning, I call him as instructed by the owner, after 10;00 am, noone even answers the phone, and I get no phone call back after leaving a nice message. I have no idea, how anyone can run a business this way, disrespecting customers, and never answering the phone, and not having the courtesy to even return a phone call for new business. at this point, I called a different shop, who was very professional on the phone, and immediately was able to get my car in on their schedule. it is so sad to see a person who has a business that cares so little for existing customers , as well as new customers, that would essentially be new business for this company. i personally would stay away from this business, certainly did not earn my business, just trying to give an honest review about my experience with this company and their owner!! read more

He is very very quick and professional! My car's radiator cracked and I needed it fixed immediately as I have school and three jobs. I called several places that were all unable to help (on a Tuesday!) but he was not only able to, I got the car in around noon and he was done with it by 4! Now it runs like a dream! Not super inexpensive, but worth the fantastic service, and not more than any other shop would have been. An genuinely honest gentleman who doesn't lie or try to wrangle you into unneeded charges like a larger company would! I highly highly recommend him. read more

Small business ownership at its finest. Skip is a hard working guy. He will quote you a parts price, let you know what to expect with each price point, and let you know what to expect from the very beginning. He swapped out the starter of my '05 elantra in 38 minutes! 38 MINUTES! AMAZEBALLS! read more

His reviews speak to how good he is and I also found this to be true. Upfront, honest and doesn't charge fees up front just to see your car. I wouldn't hesistate to recommend Skip to anyone! read more

I called Sparky this morning about my 2001 Hyundai Elantra GLS, it was no crank no start had already put some work into it and nothing. I towed it in and within 2 minutes he figured out the problem! My starter went out again after being replaced he only charged me 90 dollars an amazing price for a pain in the butt job. He also fixed my out brake light for no charge. The service was amazing, an quick. It was a life saver and local I will be returning for all my car needs! Thank you for everything really!! read more

I wrote this long review, but when I logged in to post it, it was gone... That's okay, cause you know what? This does not require a lot of words. Skip is knowledgeable and consultative; does quality work (including knowing his limits on jobs, and being prepared with referrals for stuff he is not comfortable doing); has a good attitude; and keeps his pricing beyond fair. Usually when I mention that my car is a Lexus, I automatically get the run around with inflated pricing justified by random jargon. But not with Skip. He explained my issue, let me pick the parts I wanted (at book), and completed a full brake job and front rotors in a 4 hour turn from me dropping it to picking it up. And all of this cost about a 1/3 of the dealership prices. THANK YOU, SKIP. You are my go to guy. read more

Skip is as nice a guy as they come! I found myself stranded in a Rite Aid parking lot last night and was fortunate enough to have Skip park next to me. He immediately began trying to diagnosis the problem and eventually ended up underneath my car, hitting my fuel pump with his bare hand and sure enough my car started! He let me know that it needed to be replaced but gave me tips on how to keep it going until I could get it replaced. As my regular mechanic will soon be moving to California, I know where I will be going for any future automotive issues. Thanks Skip! read more

After a bit of scheduling miscommunication he replaced my alternator quickly. Cheap, too. $90 for the service, alternator at cost.

Sparky helped me with my Bonnieville which I posted about earlier but my son's car suddenly wouldn't start. We got his car to him at like 4 pm on a weekday and he had him back on the road by 6ish! Fairly priced, honest and expiedant! In a word, Awesome! read more

Very easy to deal with and was able to fix the issue I was having with my truck within hours. Thanks!

Had an electrical short in my F-150. The battery drained enough within 24 hours if not unhooked so that the truck would not start. Found Sparky''s online and called Skip. He got me in same day, fixed the problem in two hours and saved me hundreds over what the dealer would have charged. He offered two solutions and let me decide which option to take. Great service, great price. I'll be back. read more

I love love this guy. He has saved the day for me many times. He is honest and fast. He never tries to take your money like Beaverton Toyota !!! They wanted to charge me $115 just to see why my engine light was on. I had to DEQ my car that day so I called Sparky's, he was able to diagnose and fix the problem in about 2 minutes. No joke. My gas cap was loose!!! So I passed DEQ and saved $115. Thanks again and again!! read more

Ive taken my car twice to skip. Both times its been diagnosed and fixed within an hour. He's got my vote of confidence. He won me over! Great hours! Outstanding prices! Best attitude! Dont waste your time with anyone else! Skip "Sparky" is a definite winner! read more

My car had a headlight issue and I was fit in the following morning and it was fixed quickly. Professional and courteous service!

Skip is extremely good at what he does. He's flexible and knowledgeable. I'll be a customer for life!

We interrupted something he was already doing, but he went in and after a quick look around the vehicle. He figured out what the problem was, bypassed what was pulling the drain and got us on the road again. He also gave us a break because we were short on the cash by 2 or 3 bucks. Thanks so much. If you need it fixed, repaired, or just looked over bring it to this place. read more

Called Skip on a late Friday evening. Said he was going to maybe take the weekend off. Told him I wanted to have someone install a new radiator I bought offline and needed someone to install it. He said just bring it by tomorrow and he will work on it, well dropped it off about an hour later my truck was done. Very good and fast service no up selling what so ever you tell him what you want and he does it. So, I had my new Champion Aluminum radiator installed to keep my old trucks engine cool. Thanks again Sparky's. Highly recommended! read more

Stop your search. If you need auto electric work, just go to Sparky's. Skip is the kinda guy who renews your faith in mankind! Great service, at a lower final price than he quoted (which was already lower than anyone else) and not only replaced my alternator, but found the original short that had caused me to kill two alternators in two years. This guy is THE BEST. Its not only the cost savings and the service, but you leave KNOWING that you were told the truth, not always how it is at other auto shops. Thanks Skip. read more

Skip is awesome and I would recommend him to anyone that wants a professional fast and friendly repair guy. He's been doing it a long time and is very knowledgeable about diagnosing the problem and fixing it quickly. My starter went out n he replaced it in two hours! Turned out it was a manufacture defect and I had to bring it back (which I felt bad about) but he said he guarantees his work and put another new starter in free of charge! Very awesome dude! Two thumbs up! read more
