I had a very bad experience with this auto shop. I came in for a simple issue and was immediately pressured into unnecessary repairs and inflated charges that were clearly not needed. It felt like they were trying to take advantage of me rather than actually diagnose or fix the real problem. What makes this even worse is the unprofessional behavior online. This worker 'Debbie' of theirs regularly responds to negative reviews claiming that customers "never came in," which is completely false in my case. I absolutely DID come in, and saying otherwise is just a dishonest attempt to protect the shop's image instead of taking responsibility. Be weary of Al as well. He will sell his nice service and if you don't have the finances yet he will definitely pressure you. If this business was confident in their work, they wouldn't need to deny real customer visits or dismiss legitimate complaints. This kind of behavior raises serious trust issues. I would not recommend this shop to anyone. If you value honesty, transparency, and fair pricing, go somewhere else. read more

It's been over a year with his unresolved situation. Dane motors threatened to sue me for defamation because I asked if that mobile home being repaired behind the image of my car was a meth lab. I don't know Meth from Adam so it was an honest question. Similar, perhaps identical, trailers have been parked out on Powell Ave about a quarter mile away periodically the windows get blown out when cooking meth. Or so I'm told by the homeless people when I talk to them while bring them food which, honestly, is a tough thing so I don't do it often. They blame me in the comment for refusing to accept the car the way they left it. You be the judge. Would you accept your car if they tried to force you to take it in the condition pictured after it was crashed into the suburban as pictured. Note the weight of the suburban is sitting on the back of the car as pictured...the rear suspension is all the way down and the suburban is angled up from the impact. The rear fender is clearly dented... They tried to sell me new tires and ultimately replaced the tires with out charging me when I showed them a picture of the car before bringing it in the shop with tires so good you could see the tred was fine. Seems to me they were using my car and wore out the tires and needed to cover it up. The gave me a "free detailing" when the car had been covered in mold from being left in the rain with the windows open in their lot. It seems to me like the "free detailing" was to cover up the interior they destroyed by not caring for the car properly. Note that the mold in the first picture is from after the detailing. In my opinion, they claim to have disposed of the car to cover up the evidence of what they did to my car. They originally claimed it was a theft and they took the car for a joy ride, then other stories came out. Finally back in May 2023 John (the owner) called me, asked me to "give him some slack" because the car was stolen by his "nephew" and it cost him a lot of money. read more

Ok. I request a synthetic oil change and a transmission fluid change. The work was completed the same day. The people were pleasant to communicate with. One mistake occurred with the window tag that indicated 3000 miles to the next oil change. It should have read 10000 miles or (years) to the next oil change. Car was running fine, but a whining noise had been growing over the summer. Dane tried to fix it and did the work replacing axles and bearings. Not sure they needed fixing and $1500 later, the transmission is still making the same noise. So now I am in for a new transmission. Dealer was worse to deal with (wanted up front diagnosis payment of $150 just to drive around the block to hear the noise!) and these guys are trying to be fair with finding a new transmission. Also be warned, there is a credit card fee for payments. Hopefully they will come through for me on this new transmission and I can up the rating. read more

Well recently had a new solenoid valve, air conditioning, power steering and front brakes done and they took good care of my Honda as always, pretty reasonable prices as well. As of writing this I got diagnosed with some water pump issues since my poor car seized up on the road the other day. Had to immediately tow it in the next day. They're taking care of the old gal as we speak. Plus if need be, there are loaner cars available. Depends on the circumstances of course. But it doesn't hurt to ask. Saved my bacon. I was staying at the motel 6 next door and my car's battery decided to die overnight. They sent a mechanic over with a car to jump start it and get it going again. They were incredibly polite and understanding of my situation and didn't charge much money at all for a service that could have cost me more than $100 with any tow company. Very frustrating, lack of communication, every time I wanted to know the status of my car had to call the shop, just to be told something different than what eventually happened. I caught them two times lying about prices. Like they would tell me the vehicle is ready for pick up and the price. But when I arrived they had raised the price 300 and said "oh that was our old pricing model." I mean is that ridiculous or what? I gave them the benefit of the doubt and tried again. They quoted 1800 and put it on paper. Then when the work began they told me it was now 2100. I asked what happened to the $1800 price? He says "ohhhhh ya that's right 1800" They were repairing a catalytic converter which had been damaged in an attempted theft. Since it was going through insurance they added on extra unnecessary work to scam my insurance. Then this was the last straw: I told them I was going to keep the broken cat converter. He tells me "oh we can't let you do that" I asked what he was going to do with it. "Oh we're gonna sell it for scrap " That's right- they tried to steal my auto parts and sell them for scrap. Do yourself a favor and find another shop. John and Alan are the guys running this shop and they are absolute scammers. read more

I contacted Dane's via Yelp after getting a diagnostic and a hefty quote for repairs. Not only were they prompt in responding but they could do the job for $500 less. I had looked at parts and labor ahead of time and had definitely been quoted well over the appropriate pricing, and Dane's quote was accurate and more feasible. They were also willing and able to take the car much sooner than every other place I contacted, some of whom had waitlists two weeks out. A friend dropped the car off, and within a business day it was done! I was stunned. The quote was exactly what they charged too. My friend picked the car up and reported it runs perfectly now. Had a transmission replaced in my truck. When I picked it up, it wouldn't shift. I immediately returned to the shop and was told that it wouldn't shift because the transmission had a shift kit. Allen took me for a ride and was doing 70 on the side streets and slamming in the brakes. He tried to tell me that this was how my truck was going to be now. Frustrated I went 2 blocks away and plugged a vacuum line in. My transmission shifts just fine. They have no clue what they are doing. After posting this review, I started getting treating messages from the owner. I am appalled at their response. I do have the texts to support this. read more

I felt like I narrowly avoided being scammed out of many hundreds of dollars here. A dash light came on on my vehicle, and using a diagnostic device purchased at an auto parts store, I discovered the issue was related to an oxygen sensor. I took my car into Dane's Motors for further evaluation. After a couple of hours I received a phone call letting me know their diagnostics showed my catalyitic converter suffered from internal damage and needed to be replaced. The cost was over $1k. In a very salesy way, the rep offered to finance the repair to spread out the cost. When I hesitated he offered again, and later he also offered a slight reduction in price. His persistence seemed a little odd for a mechanic shop. I did my own research and called another muffler shop. They told me it sounded bogus and that there was no test for internal damage for a catalytic converter. I took my car in there and the mechanic suggested I try replacing the Oxygen sensor for around $100 or so. In the couple of days I waited for an appointment, the dash light turned off by itself, and I haven't had any issues. I don't believe I needed a catalytic converter replaced. I do believe they wanted to upsell me on needless repairs. To the owner who replied I would like to ask: what do you do with the old catalytic converters that you replace? Is it your policy to give them back to the owners or do you sell them and pocket the proceeds? read more

Above and beyond. My Honda Fit broke down on a Friday night, unable to start. I called on Saturday morning and spoke with John who felt he might be able to fix it by the end of the day, I'd just need to get it there. When I couldn't find a tow, John came out himself to see if he could jump the car. We got it running and I followed him to the shop. He lent me a loaner car while I waited for repairs. He initially thought it was likely the alternator that was the problem. It was the AC compressor instead--a bit more complex of a problem. These guys are truly amazing - their mechanics are skilled, honest and kind. I will be a customer for life after my experience with them! John is a joy to work with, and he's a Honda expert! I discovered a water leak in my car that ended up soaking the upholstery and getting pretty bad before I discovered it. Most shops wouldn't even agree to take a look at it, and a couple others agreed to bill me for diagnosis while taking care of other vehicle maintenance, but ultimately told me it was too much work for them to find the leak. I put out a mass request through Yelp and Debbie sent me a nice reply with their hourly rate, so I thought I'd give Dane a try. John was able to immediately diagnose the leak and called me to give me a quote. It was a lot less than I expected, which was a relief, and he was really thorough in explaining the process to me. He made some other recommendations for parts that were reaching the end of their lifecycle, but never pressured me to add any other work on. I agreed to the work and he had my car ready for me the next day. When I went to pick up my car, Dane's customer service and commitment to great work really shone. John stayed late to I'd be able to make it to the shop after work, which was lovely and unexpected! He also offered to replace my back windshield wiper, which admittedly I had let get pretty beat up. After all was said and done, my total came out less than the original quote, which again was much appreciated! But the cherry on top was that John noticed my radio was locked by the security system - I bought the car used and the code that was supposed to be in my glove box was missing. He spent a good deal of time helping me look for alternate places the code might be stored and offered to call my dealership to get if from them. Everyone I talked to from Dane has been so kind and thorough, and John was incredibly responsive, personable and honest.
