Damn...my friend highly recommended Son so I called for a price quote and he was rude and dismissive and his quote was twice the price of another shop. I know he didn't take the time to actually research the job because he prattled off the quote immediately. I was surprised and disappointed. The owner acts like a child. Throws a fit. Threatens me. Very but hurt. Part of the suspension is out on my car and he couldn't find it and said nothing is wrong. I knew something was wrong and once I even questioned him is when he began to act like a child. Ive been told by two mechanics something is wrong they just can't fix it. He says it's a BODY issue then. The body shop says I think you need a new mechanic. I think they're right. read more

Around 6 months ago, I had approximately $2000 of repairs done at my local gas station mechanic/repair shop after being informed that completing these repairs will probably allow my old family car to function for approximately 2 more years. However even with these major repairs, my car was acting up (i.e. white smoke, odd smells, and refusing to move when the gas pedal is pushed down) and I took it in to the same mechanic for a checkup. The mechanic found nothing immediately wrong with the car, and charged me $60 for his time. Almost exactly 2 weeks later, I was driving with a full tank of gas and my car suddenly refused to move faster than 2 miles per hour. I decided that it was probably a good decision to find a different mechanic, and called my friends for recommendations. Son Import, Inc was highly recommended to me as his family's mechanic; I was told that the mechanics there were very honest, friendly, and does quality work. My experience with them was no different. I called, was told to tow my car there at my convenience, and that they will take a look as soon as they can. Two hours later, I received a call. The mechanic told me that my car was not worth fixing at this current state; one of the cylinder in the engine collapsed. If I really want to I could rebuilt my engine for approximately $2000, but there are a variety of other problems with the car. In his opinion, my best option is the junk the car. I asked how much I owe him for his time, and he said that since there was nothing he can fix there was no charge. Although the news wasn't what I wanted to hear, I really appreciate his integrity, timely service, and honesty. I would personally go to Son Import, Inc for my various future car needs, and recommend it highly. read more

I highly recommend Son Imports. He's the best auto mechanic I've ever used. I have a 1990 Honda CRX, and every time something comes up he's able to look at it quickly and get it fixed. I love this guy so much I can't believe I haven't written a review already!! When I call, the owner always either tells me to bring the car in that afternoon or the next morning. He can always fit you in quickly. His rates are more than reasonable and he's very honest. Like other reviews have stated, he doesn't charge you for his time if it's something not worth fixing or if there is no problem. I found him years ago after searching on the Car Talk forum, where he was highly recommended. Last year I decided I wanted to get a "green" oil change and the guys there found a list of things "wrong" with my car, some of which I knew weren't really wrong. From there I went back to Son Imports and he told me which things were real problems and fixed them for less. I won't take my car anywhere else again. read more

They have always been really nice, quite inexpensive, and they seem very honest. For example once or twice it seemed like they didn't repair or replace something when perhaps they could have, or a dealer might have, but they were so honest and said you don't really need this replaced now. read more

I've been having my car repaired there for quite some time. And I've always raved to people about his integrity, good prices and quality work Thanh the owner will often look at my car for no charge. His rates are beyond reasonable. He has always given timely service and my car is ready when he says it will be. My latest visit was when I took my car to a place where I'd bought coupons for free oil changes. They did less than the basics you get at most places. They told me of 4 major things that needed to be done. Change transmission fluid, coolant fluid, brake fluid and rebleed brakes and a couple of other things. They're estimate was $725.00. I took my car to Thanh, he didn't charge for many things the other place did, and the total for the above repairs and the other things that needed to be done was $305.00. Plus the other place said I needed back tires. Thanh said they could go at least another 6 months. He's a great guy, honest and trustworthy. I will always take my car there for everything. Oil changes included. Although he's pricier on that more than most places, I know he'll do the job right. The 'free oil change' didn't even tell me how dirty the air filter was. Thanh replaced that. Other places I've taken my car for oil changes to have lost the oil dip stick, lost the top to one and many other things. My "backyard" Volvo mechanic sent us here when we acquired a Subaru. My partner has been taking it to them ever since. I finally had the opportunity to have first hand experience on a VERY cold day last November. He said he didn't have time to do the one thing that needed looking at, but, when I explained we were leaving for 2 -1/2 months and wanted to leave the car in good condition for our return, he said he'd do what he could. When we returned in the time he said he needed, it was ready and waiting. The repair was much simpler and he did something else I asked for plus he was very free with his advice. He charges very realistic prices for what he does and his integrity is beyond question. Though his hourly rate is more than my Volvo mechanic so is his overhead and I don't begrudge this. Got my vote! We feel lucky to have found him especially with two aging cars (and car owners). read more

I love this guy!! My boyfriend recommended Son Imports when I needed to replace a squeaky belt. The place I normally get my oil changed recommended I replace it. After the owner of Son Imports looked at it he said it only needed to be tightened. He tightened the belt at no cost, checked my oil, my tires and figured out why my check engine light was on. I was only charged for the oil he added to my car, and only because I asked him to add more oil there. Since then I've had him do other repairs on my car and he is pretty quick to do them. Hey there, folks! Got a letter from the DMV that I needed to get new tags for my Honda Element. That same day, my check engine light went on! Jeez. A friend of mine recommended an "awesome mechanic around the corner from my house". He raved about him, his honesty, his rates, and his skills. Drove over there at 8:30 in the morning, the owner came out, and he immediately started checking for whatever codes were being tripped. 5 minutes later, he had a diagnosis, a fix, and an incredibly reasonable estimate. I asked him, "So, when can you get to this? What's the best time for me to drop the car off?", to which he replied, "It's no problem, just come back in 2 hours". I couldn't believe it. A mechanic who diagnoses on the spot, without filling out a bit of paperwork... Gives a lower estimate than I could have dreamed of... super pleasant guy who actually communicates openly with the customer... these are things that he did, and that are all unheard of in today's auto repair world. Mr. Son is one of the best mechanics I've had during my 30 years of owning Hondas. He also is of the highest integrity. Briefly I owned a Subaru and I had a leaking ABS pump which was going to cost $1000 to replace. Mr Son said that I could just keep checking and filling the fluid level for awhile and that sometimes they fix themselves. That's exactly what happened! He's also done extensive work on a Honda engine which was done quickly and with a warranty. I couldn't be happier. read more
