The deck was nice as was the space for lawn games and other activities. It looked like the built in facilities were really helpful for our caterers and the other folks serving our group! It really was a nice venue if perhaps a bit far from most of Edmonton. Then again the seclusion could be an appealing factor! There was ample parking and the dirt road to get there was not very long at all.

As a former events manager, I have never felt so undermined or disrespected by the on-site manager of this facility. First, he refused to give us a key to the building -- After paying $600 for the venue and then having many of the "perks" revoked with the loss of their in-house catering company, they could have at least given us a key to use. The site manager continually entered the hall during the reception and pestered the groom with questions about when our linens and other rental equipment would be removed. As the rentals were not made through the hall, he had no right to ask such questions, and I told him as much when he questioned my willingness/ability to bring the items to the vendor the next day. After he was asked to address all of his questions and concerns to me, he began to search out other members of the bridal party. He even went so far as to turn the hall lights on and off after we had dimmed them to a safe, yet mood-inspiring level. The final nail in the OTS coffin was finding out later that friends of the manager (members of OTS, perhaps?) were drinking and carrying on INSIDE THE HALL during our rental period, the afternoon of the wedding. If you want a stress-free wedding, do not book this space. Yes, it is a great venue space and has a beautiful attached park, but dealing with this man is not worth it. To quote the bride: "the day was perfect, with that one exception."

When you walk into the centre, there are a few rooms on the left and the large gym straight ahead. The fair was held in the large space which was organized in rows with rectangle tables and 2 chairs. Each table had a table cloth laid out. The layout was great as it wasn't too crowded for people to walk and there wasn't much room between the tables but I didn't have anyone using the beside me so it worked out. They also had a table on the side with water jugs and glasses. Other times I've been, they've had round tables in this big room and rectangle tables around for the food and drinks. I saw in the other smaller room, people organizing and decorating for a Halloween party. It would be fun! The washrooms are just outside the rooms and the ladies' room was large with lots of stalls. It was nice and clean. There was parking on the street in front of the centre and across the street there was lots of parking in the lot. Decent venue to hold a meeting or work event.

Gift ideas for all the people in your life and yourself. Then mosey on back into the greenhouse areas where you can find tools, dirt, fertilizer, garden pond chemicals and building supplies. Plus plant pots that will make you want to create the oasis of your dreams. The plants! Can I even skim the surface of the variety and fullness of the plant selection they have. I personally adore looking at the succulents and cacti, but I got kids so... haha I love the beautiful flowers and plant pot stuffers. So many ideas and inspiration. This visit I saw tons of hanging bags of flowers, so trendy! They also had wild and beautiful new flowers I've never heard or seen before. We also saw some of my favourite greens- food! The huge array of pepper plants and tomatoes were just starting to arrive and I loved it all. Then when you head finally to towards the till you go past canned good delights and fresh produce. Plus did I mention you can find a huge array of chicken decor? (Maybe that's just my thing lol) This visit I treated myself to a Japanese Air purifying plant called a Crispy Wave! Every time I've shopped here for myself or with others, I leave feeling like I've found more than what I thought I needed (great for any gardener to feel that happiness and this was certainly true on my most recent visit). If you're looking for seeds, plants, ready to eat veggies & fruit, various garden maintenance items, home & garden accessories or decor items, this is a great place to shop. If you're on a time or budget limit, you might need to go in with someone else to help you focus and cover more ground. There's always a lot to look at and if you go often enough, there's even a stamp card to fill up (I won't go into the details, as another yelper explained that really well already). The last visit I'm recalling (in Aug 2021), I noticed they had a decent discount on remaining vegetables, herbs and flowers for your garden. To a point it distracted me from my original mission of buying veggies for my upcoming meals. Well only a little... as I bought some lovely mature herbs of basil, stevia and chives to add to my patio garden. I stocked up on the veggies I went there for but made a note to myself about the cases of BC fruit. I'm writing this review now as I forgot it in drafts and found it again when sharing this location with relatives and friends. Most recently my Aunt picked up potatoes from there (Oct 2021), so the food area is still available as well as all the neat extra things closer to the tills. Parking lot is large enough one wouldn't struggle to find a spot, it's flat and it's paved. The entrance/exit is both flat, making it welcoming for all levels of mobility. The signs could be a bit more strategically placed so one actually goes into the right greenhouse area for plants, types of flowers, veggies & fruit (fruits & veggies were at the far end of the connecting greenhouses but in the past years the veggies & fruit were close to the exit & tills). I also passed a lot of staff in the greenhouse but no one asked me if I was finding what I was looking for, if needed help with anything I was looking at or if I knew that they were closing up soon. It wasn't until I reached the till I realized what time it was with all the staff gathered near the exit waiting for the greenhouse to close. That was an odd feeling but I appreciate the cashier & what I assume was the owner for still taking time to chat with me and make sure I knew about the punch card and had everything I needed. While exiting, I noticed a bunch of very happy greenhouse cats and one very lovely old greenhouse dog. Something about greenhouse that keep animals always makes me smile just a bit more.

Let's say you want one of Monet's paintings; they'll get one of their artists to study Monet's classic techniques and imitate them. You get a reproduction of your favorite Monet painting, for a lot less than the real thing. The paintings are mostly oil on canvas, just like the real deals. I was amazed to learn they're painted from a blank canvas, and not just expensive prints, as they usually are. Some of the famous paintings I saw in the gallery were James McNeill Whistler's "Whistler's Mother" and Jacques-Louis David's famous work of Napolean, the powerful one where he's on a horse and about to charge into battle. Of course, good art has a hefty price. A great painting will usually cost you at least $300, for the average size. But I saw some works here that cost less than that, and it's a great deal if you think about it, because these pieces are probably the closest thing you'll get to authenticity. They also do portraits, so if you want to have a loved one (or yourself, for all you narcissists) painted, just bring in a photo and they'll reproduce it in oil on canvas. It's cool that you don't have to be a millionaire to have fine art in your home.

Last night, I was able to see a different side of Mirage Banquet in a memorial event for a local fighter. The Mirage donated the room AND the catering for everyone and the silent auction that night. That kind of generosity and community support is commendable and I just wanted to make sure my review reflected that. The decor was classy. Crisp, clean linens, quality centrepieces, great lighting and quality sound. And the food. The catering was amazing. Hot, delicious selection. Roast potatoes, coconut fish, chicken parm, tender and rare prime rib, salad, flavourful gravy and a mushroom Alfredo pasta that was to die for. The catering and service staff were ON IT. Food was instantly whisked in and empty trays traded out so no one in line had to wait for a buffet selection. Tables were bussed of dirty dishes quicky and quietly. I definitely would book with the Mirage for the room and even for the catering for an outside event. (which they do!)

This time I came to see an Art Mentorship Exhibition called "New Voices 1" at the Visual Arts Alberta- CARFAC Project Space. There were 2 main rooms showcasing these "New Voices 1" artists. The visual art pieces were made with a variety of media such as acrylic on canvas, soapstone on marble and ink on rice paper. The art was well lit and the pieces were spaced adequately apart. Across the hall there were another 2 rooms featuring very thought provoking pieces by Emily Jan and Timmy MacDonald. Emily Jan's piece called "After the Hunt" was stunning. She had made animal carcasses with felt material and displayed them on an elaborate banquet table. I loved how you could walk around the large table to take in the little details. Timmy MacDonald had a piece showing a raw tree trunk placed on top of a processed piece of lumber called "Simple Perversion." I found the visual art amazing! I am not an art expert but I do appreciate various forms of art. I found myself having discussions about what might've inspired the artists to make particular artistic choices. It's a great way to enjoy art and to share ideas! . I love that this is a public gallery and that it is run by artists. It's very accessible. I didn't have to pay an entrance fee. There was a donation box inside. It's great to see places like this where artists can be supported by our community. I really enjoyed coming here!
