    Bride on a Budget

Kerry talks a good game but does not follow though with her promises. I REGRET one thing and it…read morewas the the money I spent hiring her and her company. She told me that one bride cried because she was getting so much pressure from her family to do more, but Kerry was doing it all...taking care of everything...I cried because that was most certainly NOT my experience. Worthless words. I would have been better off to keep that money for myself considering how much of the planning I had to do on my own. Their ideas were uninspiring at best, with no real creative direction. I ended up doing the clean up after my wedding, in my wedding dress, even though it was part of my package, because Kerry and Julie were LONG gone. I spoke to Kerry on several occasions about my dissatifaction, but it made no difference. Rather then rise to the occasion they continue to drag their heels and were happy to let me do all the work...even though they assured me this wouldn't be the case. They were a total joke. I have been to another wedding, unfortunately, planned by them and it was a disaster, lots of rain and no rainy day plan. Wedding planning 101 totally lost on them. I would NEVER recommend them to any bride.

My wife and I had a horrible experience with Bride on Budget that peaked with them ruining our…read morewedding ceremony. We hired them for the full package deal: wedding planning, décor, and day of coordinating. We did this because we had to move to another province for university in the fall of 2016 and decided planning a wedding would be less stressful with the help of a professional wedding service. We were wrong. Communicating with BOAB was like pulling teeth. I would send them an email and would get a response from a different person almost every time telling me they would get me said info soon...and then radio silence for weeks to days at a time. When we did get information from them about vendors it was always stuff that came up with a quick google search, something we could easily do on our own, or was information that was totally irrelevant to us. For example we asked them to help us find a suit for my wife. They sent us a link to a custom men's suit service. Last time I checked woman's suits are very different from men's and this was just one more thing we ended up doing on our own. When they provided us with vendor information they expected us to contact them for prices ect and sometimes vendors they recommended just would not respond. Basically it seemed like they would google the information we wanted, send us the results, and left us to do the rest. Ultimately, we could not trust them to do the job we paid them for and I ended up planning the entirety of the event anyway. There is a clause in their standard form contract stating any money paid to them they keep if you chose to not use them for any reason and you must pay them in full really far in advance. By the time we realized we were not getting what we had expected and wanted to stop using their service we had no choice but to continue; we thought we might as well use them for the day of coordinator and decor as it was paid for anyway. So, I planned the entire wedding and then set up family members and friends to pick up the pieces on the day of the wedding in case BOAB fell through as the coordinators. I am glad I did because so many things through the cracks that was supposed to be taken care of by them that my friends and family had to take care of instead. Additionally, I had guests complain to me about the behaviour of the coordinators stating they were rude to them during the day. I am still seething. As for the wedding ceremony: we had a rehearsal with our bridal party and BOAB the day before. They knew how our ceremony was supposed to be set up and failed to set up a table for us to sign the wedding license (this was discussed IN DETAIL the night before). We had our ceremony and when the time came to sign the registry there was no where for us to do this. Guests were confused, we were confused, and the coordinators were no where to be found. By time we flagged them down to help us several minutes had passed. By the time they got a table for us so we could continue with our ceremony guests had gotten up and were moving around/leaving/taking photos. This ruined the entire ceremony, the entire reason for having a wedding. I was and I am still LIVID about this and got a flimsy apology from one of the coordinators afterwards. I would never recommend BOAB to anyone. You can do this on your own and save yourself the stress. Edit: The company has commented all my reviews asking for people to contact her for her side of the story on this event. I find this particularly insulting as she hasn't even bothered to try talking to us.We did contact them with our dissatisfaction for their performance and this got us no where. Bottom line: they screwed up repeatably and ultimately ruined out wedding ceremony. While there may be two sides to every story I would think long and hard about using this company on your wedding day. It comes down to who you want to trust: MULTIPLE reviewers stating they had a bad experience with this company who stand to gain nothing from writing a review, or a company asking you to contact them for "their side" of a story who want you for your money. I would hate for anyone to go through what my partner and I did which is why I have reviewed them.

Well, what can I say about Strathcona County hall? Most of my experience has been of the County…read moreCouncil meetings and they are interesting, to say the least. Lets start with the room and decor. The room is set up in a theatre half round with portable chairs sitting on tiered steps - kind of like a half round Roman coliseum. This seating arrangement provides a good sightline for all in attendance. The chairs are not the most comfortable, but I have certainly experienced worse. In airport waiting areas. Two big screens behind the Council members projects motions and presentations as they arise. The motions are sometimes so small as to be almost unreadable. I think whoever prepares them should consider using a minimum font size of 24. The council seats are flanked with an impressive array of flags to give it a properly ceremonial feel. The press area is located at the back of the room and has a ledge that enables media to sit with their laptops and plug them in. This would be something that might be considered for others in attendance. It is not just the press who bring their laptops or other technology to council meetings. Now, for the show. You definitely get your money's worth at these events. Admittance is free and the shows run every second Tuesday starting at 2 pm. They are quite long and will sometimes go until 8 or 9 at night. The players are 9 councillors, including the mayor. It is often easy to see the tension amongst the players as they jockey for position as the "top dog" or at least the "not bottom" dog on any given event. Witty barbs and not so clever snipes are often heard as the participants heat up on topics such as snow removal, art gallery guidelines and development plans. I think that maybe the crew could be provided a bit more direction as they seem to run amok at times. There are often guest appearances from various committee members and residents. These are often the pleasant parts of the show as all participants spend much time patting each other on the back. When administration guest stars, it is often a different thing. This is when the drama really heats up and the audience is often on the edge of their seats. Will the Mayor berate and argue with what is presented? Will Council find problems with the information they are given? Will administration show their true feelings or cover it behind tight smiles? The highest drama occurs when administration presents to Council and some members of council begin to disagree with the information while others don't. This is when you really want to get your popcorn out and settle in for a great show! When this happens, it is usually followed by a break that is called by the Mayor. This will give you just enough time for a washroom break or a quick run for a latte at the library coffee shop. Although I wouldn't recommend bringing small children or those easily offended, it is still good entertainment for your money.

After an extensive online search for a local music school, Resonate seemed most attractive. I went in to view our options, and ended up signing my kids up on the spot. Meghan was most patient and answered all of our questions. The teachers treat my kids with utmost respect and care, while keeping me well informed and up to date with their progress after each lesson. They are energetic, knowledgeable and incredibly pleasant. Resonate's innovative membership concept leaves no room for excuses. By offering lessons 7 days a week, including late evenings, everyone has an opportunity to enrol, no matter how busy their schedule may be. Having two young kids, I especially appreciate the opportunity for make-up lessons in case we can't make it in. Also, the liberty to switch to other instruments at any time if my kids change their minds, assures me that students truly come first at this school. There are numerous other details such as reward points on each visit, complimentary studio time, clean and pleasant waiting area with an iPad bar (an unbelievably clever idea!), charity events, and a wide variety of services offered that has me just so excited to recommend this place to everyone I know. Its innovative yet simple concept is what initially convinced me to choose this particular business, and now I really want to see it thrive. Edmonton needed Resonate, and I hope more people get to know about it and help it grow.
