I went here with family on a holiday. I had an okay time however the food selection was mundane and the vending machines might as well have been at the airport. Wanted to go bowling but just wanted a basic experience, nothing super fancy that was going to break the $50 barrier for two people with shoe rentals for an hour. I chose Sparez as it seemed like it was going to check the boxes... & for the most part it did. Is it fancy? No. Was it still fun? Yes. Each lane is staggered seating wise so you do get a bit of privacy. Like all other bowling locations, you go to the community racks & find what ball fits your fingers & weight preferences best. You pay by the hour for the lane, & can rent shoes. Each lane has touch screens where you can select traditional bowling or some fun games instead. Didn't try the food, bar, or play in the arcades so can't comment on those. My biggest gripe was it appeared the AC was not working. There were fans & portable AC units throughout. It wasn't brutally hot, but it wasn't exactly comfortable either so your mileage may vary. All said & done, paid $41 for an hour with two shoe rentals. I found that to be very fair. I recently had the opportunity to bowl at SpareZ in Davie with a summer camp group. I was surprised at how large the alley is with over 45 lanes. Up to 6 people can bowl per lane. There is also a game room, the Hammerjack Sports Bar and Grille, board and conference rooms, and a skills center that sells bowling equipment, equipment for bowling leagues, and bowling ball drilling and adjustment services. The bowling alley was clean which I appreciated. It was a weekday morning and there were a number of seniors taking advantage of the $3.10 games. Other specials include Wacky Wednesday 8 PM to 1 AM 3 hours all you can bowl for $20. They also offer a pizza bowl where you can get 2 hours of bowling with shoes, a large pizza and a large pitcher of Pepsi Monday through Friday 9 AM to 3 PM. I actually tried the pizza and it was better than I expected. Otherwise an hour of bowling per lane ranges in price from $25 to $45 depending on time and day of week. If you are able to come during a week day you can save money on your game. They also offer bowling party packages, leagues, and camp groups. The kids were able to add lane bumpers and the staff was great about helping out when the balls jammed. Lunch was served efficiently which was nice because by that time everyone was hungry. Spares is a big bowling alley with plenty of parking, plenty of lanes, and a full restaurant/bar. I went with a group of ladies on a Sunday morning and it was a super-fun outing. Prices were reasonable; only $21 for 2 hours of bowling plus shoe rental. There were lots of employees at the counter and everything ran smoothly. They had many bowling balls available, and they were all sorted by weight and color-coded which made choosing a ball really easy! (I've been to other bowling alleys where you have to hunt all over for the correct ball snd sometimes the choices are limited.). The rental shoes were looking a little ragged; not sure if it was just the pair I got or if they need to invest in some new inventory of shoes. But they did the job they were needed for! The lanes were nice and clean with little tables where you could sit while waiting your turn to bowl. Scoring was all computerized so there's really nothing to do besides entering the names of the bowlers. It wasn't too busy on a Sunday morning and we didn't order anything to eat or drink, since we already had lunch plans for afterwards. Anyhow I called spares reservations line and spoke with a lovely lady named ALTA. She's very nice and I'm sure she has beautiful dimples. I could hear the smile in her voice. I could hear them as she talked. We had a good conversation and the rapport was really good. I think she was surprised about my candor during the conversation. I have been going to this place since I was a teen and remember it being great. Took my kids tonight and we were moved 3 times from table to table because the lines are either getting stuck, bumpers won't work or it wiouldnt start the game for each player correct. As we were moving to the third table our beer pitcher was taken in a blink of an eye. We complaint to the manager and he didn't even apologize or look at us. Started bowling in a summer league; NO A/C !!!!!!! I figured there was a problem and parts had to be ordered. It is now 3 weeks later and still no a/c. What they do have is a large fan and a portable a/c unit at the end of the house. This is Florida and you have to have a/c in the summer. I have to assume they are being frugal and will wait to make necessary repairs before the fall leagues start. This is total B/S and I dont need to get all winded from bowling 3 games. Great big bowling alley. Parking is not as issue as it sits on a huge parking lot. There is also a big bar inside, so good for kids and adults. We came here for a work event and it was well organized. Inside is actually really huge, with many bowling lanes and room for everyone. All of the bowling lanes and equipment look new and updated, not many issues. Each lane has a touch screen to program the game but it tends to get hard to touch and pick and option. For food we tried the pizza, nachos. And I was surprised at how good this pizza was. Not a cheap pizza at all actually a little fluffy and not flat with a good amount of cheese and not to over sauced. Overall great bowling alley for friends and family. It had been years since I've visited Sparez so I was pleasantly surprised to see it had been renovated since my last visit. Everything looked great. We joined our friends and kiddos for a few games. It's funny how much it has changed as far as the bumpers. It can be set up to automatically extend out when one of the kiddos are up. My mind was blown lol They even updated their arcade which was really nice and seemed very cleaned. The only thing is the lanes seemed a little cramped when joined with a neighboring party. Given covid it would be nice to have a little more space. Especially if it's larger groups of people. All in all good old fashion fun :) read more

Since my wife and I had a great time bowling last week, especially after winning a gold medal in the bowling at the Yelp Games this past Wednesday night, my wife and I decided to bowl again this week. With the help of Yelp app, we found this place which is not too far from our house. The place is huge with probably 50 lanes or so. The lanes looks in good shape, and all the screen and monitors seem to be working. However, instead of charging you by the games you played like the place we went last week, this place charges you by the hours on weekends. So that means if you wanted to get your moneys worth, you have better bowl fast. Well, the drawback of when you get charged by the hours where you have to bowl fast, you can see people throw the Bowling Courtesy & Etiquette out of the window. Things like do not bother people while they are in the process of bowling, bowler's right of way and don't pick up your return ball while another bowler is preparing to bowl and is in his/her starting position. But, again, I am not a professional bowler competing in a tournament so I can understand how this is happening. We didn't see anything like this while we were at the other place last week. Overall we had a good time. The lanes were in very good condition so there is a high probability of getting a decent score. The staff seemed friendly and the operation manager actually came by and asked us how we are enjoying our visit, which is nice. But, I think 18 bucks for a bucket of beers seems a bit high. I am not sure if the bar located inside is owned and operated by the bowling ally, so I can't count that against them. SpareZ had changed names over the years. I remember it as Don Carter Bowling back in the day. I hadn't been here in many years, but I always remembered it as being the largest bowling alley I'd ever been to with over 60 lanes. I was impressed with the fact that the whole facility was very clean, updated, and well-kept.. as good as it's ever looked in my opinion. And the bowling lanes were well-polished. They even had automatic bumpers for each lane. That's right.. you set the scoring program so that the auto bumpers rise for your designated bowlers and then lower back down for the other bowlers. I have NEVER seen that before. We arrived around 7pm on a Saturday night and waited about 30-45 minutes for our lane to be available. With 7 bowlers in one lane, we didn't finish our one game in one hour, but thanks to the Yelp Check-in offer for 15 minutes of free bowling, we were able to finish our game. Our only issue was that we couldn't choose our bowling balls from the side racks. They were all stored on the lanes which I understand can happen during peak hours. With that said, I'd highly advise not to come during peak hours. It simply gets way too packed here and you'll have to join a long wait list. In my high school years, I was good with math (took two calculus courses!), enjoyed my parties but wasn't that athletic. I bring that up because it came full circle during another of our reunion parties at Sparez. The tabletop computers give extensive analytics of your game, perfect for ex-math geeks. As seen in the attached pictures, let the record show I did make TWO strikes and one spare. They have a variety of balls of different weights (though I learned the lighter ones are better if you want to make more strikes.) Employees were pretty courteous, and gave our group a shoutout. Use the yelp check-in, as it gets you and your group a free game. There are always free game or food giveaway contests throughout the night. Unlike the stereotypical image of bowling alleys, the shoes appear to be pretty clean and didn't leave my feet as a hazmat zone. The bathroom was also pretty clean considering how packed it was on Saturday. As far as food, I didn't see any menus but some people went to their in-house Hammerjack's Bar for some spicy wings and basic cheese pizza, as well as pitchers. I wasn't drinking, but the cheese pizza did bring back memories from the school cafeteria :) Still, it was perfect for a fun Saturday night out. 5/25/2017 - Had an absolute blast bowling here and would come back with a group of people. That's already on the works. The place is HUGE!!!! On this day, the parking lot was almost full but when going inside it didn't seem like there was anyone bowling. When looking around, we noticed a bar area to our left and there was a party happening there. You can rent the lanes by the hour or by the game. We decided on the hour since the young lady at the register said we could play 4/5 games. Got our rental shoes and we were on our way. As soon as we sat down to put our shoes on, the waitress came by with a menu. We ordered a couple of Miller Lite in the aluminum can. We played about a 2 games and a half before the time was up. We went to the register to pay to finish the game. We had to move as there was a party coming in and they had rented the area we were in. This was my first time bowling after many years and we arrived on a Saturday night around 7:30 and there was a line to request a lane + wait list It must have been the busiest night of the week and we were told it would be a 30 minute wait with 3 parties ahead of us. I think they provided wrong information as the wait was a lot longer than 30 minutes with more than 3 parties ahead of us. They have a projector in the center of lanes and played music videos. At around 8pm, a live DJ started playing music and it became a lively scene. The price was quite expensive at this time at 24.99 for 1 hour of bowling + 4.49 per shoe rental. We paid $53 for 1 hour of bowling + 15 minutes free by checking in on Yelp. This is a kid friendly place and my 2 year old and 4 year old loved it. One and Done It was our first and last visit. As a lifelong league bowler, this was by far my worst bowling experience. To start, the front desk girl, while not overtly rude, had zero personality and lacked virtual any emotion the entire time she checked us in. Next, it was 47 dollars for two adults and 2 kids, one of which was 2 yrs old, to rent 3 pairs of shoes, for one hr of bowling. No option to pay per game. The whole time thing is a scam in and of itself. They're counting on you to have your time run out at the end of your game, so you go for another hr. The clientele was mediocre at best. Nary and lick of bowling etiquette in the place. More than once we had people just walk through our lane, IN FRONT of the ball return. The last straw was that it took ONE HOUR AND 20 MINUTES to receive our food, which cost 44 dollars for chicken nuggets, a hot dog, and fries. Why would I come back here, when I could spend the same or a little more for one of the lounge type bowling places that have a comfortable environment and delicious food.?
