It's actually much bigger inside than I realized. Husband went to grab some beer and there was a corner I hadn't even seen before. They had an Asian section with fake Sriracha! The chips section was bigger than their cheese section, but the candy/chocolate selection was the biggest so if you wanted to buy treats to take home, they've definitely got plenty. This might just be an Austrian thing, but their bananas were on sale and were still pretty expensive. 1.99 Euros for a kilo?!?! Really impressed by the variety they had: pomegranates, cactus fruit, mangos, pineapples. The sale flyers are right by the entrance, next to the baskets. It's worth grabbing and skimming through, because we saw baguettes were 0.89 Euros each and grabbed several. If you want fancy cheese, it's right behind the tower of Mozart balls, but the cheaper brie and Laughing Cow-type cheeses are on the other side by the yogurts.

They have a pretty good variety of sauces & condiments & everything shelf-stable (including many different flavours of Sriracha). Prices seem reasonable. Service is helpful. I highly recommend Lili Markt if you're looking for Asian groceries in Vienna.

They have literally everything I would buy normally in a super duper asian market in Seattle. I even told my friend: ok, I can live in Austria now. :)))). What impressed me: - they carry many varieties of everything, the quantity is not much because of the varieties and limited space. - they have ong choy!! yu choy!! bean sprout! sesame candy! super duper hot vietnamese/ thai chilli! Phu Quoc fish sauce!! ahhh!!!! so many!! The store is clean and the price is reasonable. Ok, 1 more time: they freaking have everything I need for my life if I ever move to Austria!!!!

Merkur is the most "American-ish" grocery store I've been to in Vienna, and that's mostly a good…read morething. It's big, which means it has many different items in stock, and many different varieties and brands from which to choose. It has a bakery and a deli and, perhaps most importantly for me, it has ground turkey. (Austria apparently has interesting laws re: machines and poultry and red meat, such that very, very few places sell ground poultry, but Merkur happens to be one of them. I am actually regretting writing this because when Merkur actually has ground turkey in stock, we buy like all of it and freeze it...) Continuing. Merkur also has a large produce department, and although they have a wide variety of produce available, I find that it's not necessarily as fresh as at the Billa where I normally shop (on Neubaugasse). And it's usually more expensive. That's the last thing about Merkur. It's more expensive.. I used to shop here almost exclusively, but since I can get most of my "bio" (organic) brands and produce at Billa for cheaper (or at a market for WAY cheaper), I don't really need to shop at Merkur. Nevertheless, I'm really glad this place exists - for the ground turkey, for the large wine and beer selection, for the party supply selection, and for their delis.. They have a deli and cafe that are outside of the store itself, and the food there tends to be pretty good. I had some pesto ravioli ages ago; it was decent and easy - I could eat it there, and we didn't have to cook that night! Plus, there's a kind-of cobbler located in the Merkur (random, I know) - he resoles shoes, and makes keys. Yeah.. interesting, but convenient (I had a pair of boots resoled when I first moved here, to have better traction when walking in the snow..)

The place is more of a deli style market. The healthy options are not easy to find (aside from straight fruits and veggies). For example - Greek yogurt was in a separate fridge to the side... And it isn't the good high protein version. Everything else is breads, viennoiseries, baked goods, fatty meats and cold cuts, chocolate, cookies etc. It's a nice and decent place to get your friends chocolate of you come from abroad. It will cost you over half less than getting the exact same items at the airport.
