I would give zero stars if I could but today was my first time here and absolutely the last. The owner was gossiping and degrading a homeless person to a heartbreaking level and the lady at the front desk said he deserved it. So I couldn't spend my money at a place where they treat people like complete crap for their unfortunate circumstances. I think the owner needs a wake up call to realize that the way she acts in her business will only hurt her. God bless her and the desk lady! Peace read more

This is always a favorite stop in Ventura! This unpretentious store is well-loved and attended to with care. The racks of clothes are maintained and separated by sizes. This is a huge time saver! I'm a sucker for their puzzle section! They usually have a great selection of dog and cat food, both wet and dry at serious savings. We get all of our products from them. This is a thrift store dedicated to helping spay and neuter animals. What a great mission! Now, let's get to the real reason I shop here. The volunteers are amazing!!!! Yes, volunteers! They do this because they care about animals and their community of people. The love and dedication they show every moment in the store shows! Valerie and Joan and many others give their hearts every second in that store. We bought a suitcase one day and forgot to bring it home. Valerie held it for us in the office for a full month!!! This is a small little thrift store behind the Vons on the outskirts of Ventura (on the West side). I hadn't been in their store since they moved here from their previous (main street) location and I was pleasantly surprised. I had thought of them as being too pricey for me, but I found the prices to be VERY reasonable during my visit last week. I bought several things including a really big wedding gown for only $5! Including the veil! It'll be great for a photo project! I also bought a small animal terrarium and a really awesome puzzle toy for my friend's dog. The ladies that work here were all very friendly to me and forward in telling me what qualified for their half off special prices that day. I will definitely come back! read more

Let me start this by saying I have never felt the need to leave a review before good or bad, but the service I received here today was so disgusting, so inhumane, so downright mean, that it's worthy of my very first review I stopped by today with my girlfriend asking about a service we've heard of where span gives out free dog food to lower income families, we didn't beg or demand anything as there are plenty of other services in Ventura county, we just wanted information and asked a few very polite questions The way we were met was, to say the least, the worst I've been treated by another human being in years Rather than simply letting us know that we got misinformation and they don't have a service like that they degraded my girlfriend, condescended her, called her and I disgusting (even used name calling, childish) told us to leave and never come back (I've shopped here before, we aren't freeloaders) The lady then became incredibly aggressive and angry, snapping at me and pointing at the door giving me commands like a dog demanding I leave, I said I was leaving and started heading towards the door and politely asked her not to treat us this way, but she was having none of it, going as far as threatening to call the police on us for loitering (we were getting ready to leave and grabbing our bikes). She insulted our appearance, our clothing, and insulted us in other dehumanizing ways. We remained polite the entire time, we were never rude, and never did anything worthy of a response at all this aggressive, they even made my girlfriend cry on the ride home. honestly, I won't be coming back here again, as there are many better thrift stores in Ventura with Incredibly warm and polite owners, employees, better deals, a better selection of items and an all round better customer experience, (goodwill, the ark thrift store, coalition thrift store to name a few) I urge you all if you want to donate to animal care, the humane society is incredible, and if you're looking for a thrift store, take your business elsewhere as I, my friends, and my family will no longer be shopping here, thank you. read more

Decent thrift store, but one lady who works there NEVER wears a mask. She's got a rainbow tie-dyed one that she has hanging off one ear. And she's old, one of the high-risk people. Won't shop there again until the pandemic is over. read more

I love this little thrift store! The staff that volunteers there is always super sweet and kind. There is typically a good flow of new inventory. While the store is not as big as some in the area, it has a decent selection of quality items that you would expect to find (they usually don't bother putting junk out). Prices are usually right where they should be, if not on the thriftier side. I like to come here to check out their selection of books, as they are well organized and categorized. Bonus fact- Their mission is to use 100% of their proceeds towards helping people get their pets spayed and neutered, thus combatting the problem of our overpopulated animal shelters. So far this year I believe they have assisted in funding well over a thousand procedures. Great job SPAN team!!! read more

My local vet clinic gave the number to call SPAN in regards to a (spay & neuter) voucher & the lady who answered the phone didn't let me finish my reason for calling before she cuts me off & told me "you know what, can you call back in an hr because we're busy right now!" This is by far the most fun yet casual thrift store I've ever been to. Everything was organized very neatly and easy to find with labels on boxes and racks. The volunteers seem to be really passionate about their work which made my time in their store special to me. I came on a day when they were offering a bag full of clothing, purses, etc. for just ten dollars. After looking at a few racks of clothing I knew I couldn't pass this deal up! I managed to find lots of new clothing and everything fit when I got home so I was very excited about that. When I came up to the register to pay the adorable shop ladies told me to go back for more and gave me tips on how to fill up my bag better. I ended up with 20 pieces (comes out to be 50 cents each) and I love them all. I will be back to visit again soon! read more

Great cause, good volunteers, amazing low prices. I live in Los Angeles but always drive up here to donate my A-list stuff. It's small but has a lot of stuff: glassware, books, clothes, knick-knacks, some furniture, artwork, miscellaneous, a few lamps, some jewelry, some cat/dog items. Prices are super low so items move. Very clean and they put donations out right away. Wonderful kind volunteers. Donating good stuff? Bring it here. Be aware of the store hours. Small parking lot always has a space. Just keep going down Main Street and turn down the side street. read more
