This place is huge and it's organized for the most part but what is really frustrating is their…read moreprices are insanely overpriced. They were selling half burned candles for $4 and candles without wicks for $3. Then there were the cheap bath sets you can get at TJ Maxx and Marshall's for $13. The big one was the bikes priced at $300 and $400 for USED bikes. These aren't high end used road bikes, these are run of the mill bikes sold at places like Big 5 for the same price. The cherry on top for me was the 18 or 19 year old girl walking up to random strangers asking for a dollar so she could buy the item she was holding in her hand. Everyone knows she isn't panhandling to buy the thrifted item, she is going to run off to buy alcohol or drugs. Who comes to a thrift store without at least thinking "hey, I should probably have money before making a decision to shop"?!

If you see the Chevron station you're in the right place. Goodwill is just a stone's throw from the grocery store. REVIEW: To be honest, I frequent Goodwill stores for their books as I proudly am a book hoarder. :) They have one of the larger selections of books I have seen, and I may have even reshelved and organized their books on more than one occasion. The employees have been polite and friendly each time I have been here, and the entire atmosphere of this Goodwill is leaps and bounds better than others in the county. They have a huge selection of clothes too, and they are spread out and organized well. I probably visit this location a few times a month and their inventory is rotated or updated too, which I appreciate. What with the state of the economy as it presently is, why not support local. Would very much recommend giving this Goodwill a good look through to see if you can find some hidden gems. :)

Managers customer service can be lackluster, half the time, I think a person working with customers should be pleasant/professional and her EVERY emotion shows on her face. Which is not great for face to face service. If she's having a bad day the whole store feels it. Throws the energy off. Interesting. Went peak hours around noon and slowly the crowd died after 3, the all dayers are still a large crowd, but it's manageable. Competition is fierce but was pleasantly surprised that people were pretty polite! Personal space was honored, some people just have their routine down and they dig like machines. Everything is relatively neatly organized. There was very little staff, they try their best and are friendly but it's only so many people in a large space. Didn't find anything horrific except some buyers who were hacking these dry throat wet nasal coughs all over the clothes while sorting through. Scary. Prices are $2.35/lb for soft goods now. Don't really appreciate goodwill raising their prices for items they get for free, but still there's no better deal around.

How many years have we driven past this treasure trove, only to say, 'One of these days...'? Well…read moreTODAY was finally that day and I wish I hadn't put it off. I've visited many antique stores with varying booths, but Antique Adventures is definitely one of the tidiest and cohesive to explore. Booths are clearly marked and associates walk the aisles should guest have any questions or need assistance. I did! I asked to please see a vintage MCM bar/stereo system that was hidden in a console. 'Of course!' was the quick answer. The piece made my heart happy, being a fan of MCM, but the owner/seller had it attached to a electric "fireplace," trimmed in "brick" that seemed more 80s. I asked if it was just resting atop for display purposes but, no, I was all one large piece. Bummer. I'm guessing the top console lost contact with its legs and this was an improvised fix. I have been interested in finding a record player and a bar cart to match our Mid Century furnishings, so this may have fulfilled both wants, but it was a pass. Very cool, though. Hubs found a treasure he had been seeking for a couple of years, a DVD of a "no longer broadcast-able" episode of "30 Rock". For a couple of bucks, he was a happy hunter. LOADS of cool jewelry and also some true estate sale finds. I'm always surprised when something I see jolts a memory from the recesses of my foggy brain. A couple of weeks ago it was a Raggedy Ann and Andy lunchbox priced at $30 - WITHOUT the thermos! Mind you, this was the era where we couldn't drop our thermos for fear of the interior glass shattering, resulting shards of glass slicing our throats with the first gulp. Hmmm....wonder if that was one of those "stories" meant to scare us into caring for our possessions??? Anywho, seeing that lunchbox awoke something and I shuddered to think why the thermos was missing. Today, of all things was an unusual wall hanging sculpture of a branch of flowers, painted gold and white that hung over the head of my yellow daisy canopy bed. Someone else had THAT hanging in their home?!? Weird to think and made me chuckle. Aside from the friendly folks and easy to navigate aisles, there are a handful of parking spaces in front, but PLENTY of parking in the back lot and along the street. We'll definitely keep Antique Adventures on our "to visit" list for each time we're in the Ventura area. Maybe I'll be a lucky treasure hunter like Hubs. Cheers! "CC"
