My husband is into media, so we popped inside Throwback to check out their merchandise. The place is big, goes back, nicely decorated, clean, well stocked. It surely has character! Customer service was just OK, not the most welcoming, chatty guy, but decent. Unfortunately, their prices are high here, if you're looking for a deal, this place won't offer that. Their media was very pricey, pretty dirty (despite the store being clean, some of their media could have been dusted), with their shocking stickers on, alongside thrift store ones, with a way lower price. So they might flip things? Anyway, it might be too hipster-ish, too bad that trend is spreading to downtown Ventura as well!

I honestly don't know how people sleep in good conscience like this. Same for Buffalo Exchange. Don't waste your time here unless you don't care what they offer you....but if that's you and money isn't an issue, why not give it to somebody who is truly in need than sell it for pennies to make somebody else richer??????

While this part of town doesn't have as much going on…read moreas downtown does, there are few gems worth checking out on this block and Laguna Vintage is definitely one! Good selection of vintage home decor items (rugs, baskets, art, ceramics) and even more clothing - mix of vintage and contemporary. Shoes, bags, lots of jewelry, hats, and accessories are also plentiful. You can easily spend up to an hour looking through every corner, its a treasure hunters delight for sure. Prices are really reasonable and the quality seems hand selected, so you are better off that just a thrift store but it's not sorted by size or decade but by type of clothing (sweaters, jackets, blouses) so you are bound to get inspired or find something unexpected.

The shop has a really well-curated mix of vintage clothing, Western wear, art, and home goods. It doesn't feel cluttered like some antique stores. Everything feels thoughtfully selected and worth digging through, and the prices feel fair for the quality. There's also a back patio with a clearance-style section, which is a fun little bonus if you enjoy the thrill of the hunt. The owners are friendly and refreshingly hands-off, which I appreciate. You can explore at your own pace without someone hovering every few minutes. An Avenue neighborhood gem next to Lalo's, with street parking out front that makes it easy to pop in. I've visited many antique stores with varying booths, but Antique Adventures is definitely one of the tidiest and cohesive to explore. Booths are clearly marked and associates walk the aisles should guest have any questions or need assistance. I did! I asked to please see a vintage MCM bar/stereo system that was hidden in a console. 'Of course!' was the quick answer. The piece made my heart happy, being a fan of MCM, but the owner/seller had it attached to a electric "fireplace," trimmed in "brick" that seemed more 80s. I asked if it was just resting atop for display purposes but, no, I was all one large piece. Bummer. I'm guessing the top console lost contact with its legs and this was an improvised fix. I have been interested in finding a record player and a bar cart to match our Mid Century furnishings, so this may have fulfilled both wants, but it was a pass. Very cool, though. Hubs found a treasure he had been seeking for a couple of years, a DVD of a "no longer broadcast-able" episode of "30 Rock". For a couple of bucks, he was a happy hunter. LOADS of cool jewelry and also some true estate sale finds. I'm always surprised when something I see jolts a memory from the recesses of my foggy brain. A couple of weeks ago it was a Raggedy Ann and Andy lunchbox priced at $30 - WITHOUT the thermos! Mind you, this was the era where we couldn't drop our thermos for fear of the interior glass shattering, resulting shards of glass slicing our throats with the first gulp. Hmmm....wonder if that was one of those "stories" meant to scare us into caring for our possessions??? Anywho, seeing that lunchbox awoke something and I shuddered to think why the thermos was missing. Today, of all things was an unusual wall hanging sculpture of a branch of flowers, painted gold and white that hung over the head of my yellow daisy canopy bed. Someone else had THAT hanging in their home?!? Weird to think and made me chuckle. Aside from the friendly folks and easy to navigate aisles, there are a handful of parking spaces in front, but PLENTY of parking in the back lot and along the street. We'll definitely keep Antique Adventures on our "to visit" list for each time we're in the Ventura area. Maybe I'll be a lucky treasure hunter like Hubs. Cheers! "CC"

Well when I showed…read moreup she acted as if it was a burden and wasn't interested in buying everything how we had agreed. And that's exactly what happened. I paid someone 20 dollars to drive me from Ojai, to her shop with the assumption we were still honoring our deal just to be told she wasn't interested and only wanted to purchase a few of the items we had originally agreed upon. I would not recommend her for any time of business and my experience was a waste of time. Not only did I pay someone to take me their, I literally paid the driver more than what I was able to pocket.

Appears to be under new ownership…read more People there are nice enough, however, they over value and over price their merchandise. One person there is keen on adding some crazy build up on an item to justify the over pricing or will claim how they easily sell others like it for even more outside the store at swap meets, online or whatever. I feel the place can have a great potential to be more successful if they stop trying to get rich off of single sales, price products at least within reasonable industry standards for a given item and also realize that Ventura is too small a town to get away with cheap fast talk to get people to over pay before people catch on and a business' reputation is tarnished.

I really enjoyed my experience looking through this store (they have a LOT of stuff) but, it was a Sunday and I was racing the sunset... (they would be closing soon) and I wanted to see a lot more of the town. So I cheated myself. My biggest tip to someone coming into town is to allot enough time on Main Street to enjoy it. This is especially true if you are an antique shop or thrift store aficionado.

There is a fairly large selection of formal wear, kept in individual plastic covers, in the back which I don't see often in vintage boutiques. I found the prices to be a bit on the higher end, but it worked out ok with 20% off regular prices. A lovely skirt came home with me. :)

This is a cool little shop tucked in the back of one of those corridors that you take off the main…read moredrag (literally off Main Street). Down the hallway are a number of boutique shops including Attic Trunk. This place sells vintage clothes and also has a costume shop in the space next door to the main store. There is just one lady running both spaces so you have to ask to see the costumes, but when my friend and I visited earlier this week it was a quiet afternoon and she quickly offered to show us that room if we wanted. We did and the costume outfits are gorgeous. I thought the things in the store were a little on the pricey side, but my friend has shopped here numerous times and said the store owner has always given her really good deals on stuff. She told me she'd gotten a corset here that she figured would be at least $40 and the woman sold it to her for $15 or $20 instead. I found all the clothes to be in really beautiful condition and thought that if you wanted to put together a really lovely and quality outfit, this is where you could go for a vintage look.
