Music shops always have their loyal customers and their "haters". I'm a longtime loyal customer of Spacetone. The owner has been a fixture in the musical community for decades and knows how to treat people to establish long term relationships. This is primarily a guitar shop and has a nice variety. Vintage to modern and inexpensive to "I may need to take out a loan". The prices are always competitive with the market norms. The vast majority of the stock is used gear. So, if they don't have what you're looking for today, it may be there tomorrow or next month. read more

These guys are really good! Great selection, service, and great prices. I wouldn't even consider shopping at the big box stores. Spacetone is simply the best! read more

Best used guitar and amp inventory in the city hands down. I can't believe some of the reviews I've read of people crying because they weren't treated like royalty upon entering the front door. These guys are professional musicians not McDonalds employees. They're here to deal and do serious business not wait on you hand and foot. Grow up. I've been coming here for years. Some days the customer service is better than other days, oh well. This bit of advice will go a long way when dealing with most mom and pop music stores. Do some research and have a fucking clue before waking in. This isn't a Burger King. You aren't going to "have it your way" here. Leave your entitlement at the door. read more

A nice small local music store! Had a nice selection of guitar parts and modest selection of guitars. There was a nice selection of Fender Champs and some other used amps as well. I didn't have a chance to talk to the employees. Would have been nice to chat about amps etc. read more

Professional musician here, have purchased from Spacetone many times. If you live in San Antonio, this is the place. The selection of guitars and variety is really second to none. There are no cards on guitars stating "ask for assistance", like you may find in other stores -- they let you play the instruments and trust you to be respectful of their inventory. All the guys at Spacetone are friendly and accommodating, super nice. Awesome store. read more

Cool shop! Great staff. Lots of interesting inventory. Had a guitar restrung. One of my go to places.

I love this place. Friendly guys, always helpful and coolest guitars. Easy to get to. One of my favorite places in San Antonio.

Jeez.....where to begin. They had the absolute best selection of Gibson and Rickenbackers. Staff was super cool and helpful.

Such an amazing guitar shop! Incredible vintage finds, such an amazing inventory. If you're in the market for a guitar, please check these guys out! read more

This place is great. I am just beginning to learn guitar and the staff at Spacetone was friendly and knowledgeable. They made me feel comfortable while shopping and the inventory is just awesome to look at. They restrung my Ibanez S Series guitar while I waited and looked around. The prices on just about everything is reasonable. If you are looking for a good guitar store in San Antonio I highly recommend Spacetone Music. read more

A great selection and great staff! Pricing is spot on for what me and my friends' budgets were. Great quality as well.

Spacetone is one of those music shops that you can walk into during the day and all of a sudden you're being kicked out because they're closing. Of course the guys that work there would be okay with you hanging around. I must admit I may be a little bias because Spacetone is where I found the love of my life in the form of an acoustic/electric guitar. She's gorgeous and I got her for a great price. That's the thing I love about Spacetone...they wont try and scam you. The only thing these guys want to do is help you find exactly what you're looking for. If that means they sell you a guitar a bit cheaper then a Taylor or a Fender well so be it. The shop also has great equipment for tons of different instruments, cleaning supplies, and music books. The space is a good size, the employees are really helpful and I guarantee you'll fall in love with an instrument. read more

This is great business for local musicians. I bought a guitar from the owner Jason years ago and it still plays well. I'll be stopping by for an amp later this year. If you are a musician or an aspiring one stop by and say hello to the wonderful staff. read more

Great place to buy gear. Knowledgeable staff and fair prices. They are easy to talk to and. An answer any of your gear related questions.

I am totally floored with all the high reviews of this place. I am a tone junky. I have a bucket full of pedals. I love shopping at guitar stores, looking for the next pedal to put on my board. I have been to this place quite a few times. On the positive side, this guy has a great selection of pedals. He even carries modded pedals, which is awesome. On the other hand, he is a tad bit proud of his prices. I have been to this place on a few occasions. The guys working behind the counter are not forth coming with their assistance. You try to make small talk with them and do not seem interested in trying to help you out, let alone make a sale. This last time I walked in and was totally ignored. I browsed the pedals and did see a few that I thought about inquiring about. If there is something you are looking for, you will more than likely find it here, but be prepared to pay a pretty penny for it. I overheard one guy who was talking about a daisy chain power supply to one of the guys who, "had a gig that night". He was talking about how many pedals he had on his board. I almost pipped in and explained he might want to get a power brick, that way he could control the voltages to all his pedals as the daisy chain power adapter is good in a pinch. They guy could have easily sold him a $10 daisy chain power adapter or even had him get a power brick. These guys do have a great vintage selection and a good pedal selection. They might sell more if their services was a tad bit better and they were not so proud of their prices. I might even be willing to drive into San Antonio and buy my pedals from them. read more

I'm in there from time to time and always get the best service. I sell to them and buy from them. Jason and the guys are super friendly and want you to try the stuff out. "Bill K" In the other review sounds like a moron know it all. They should have threw a power brick at Bill's dumb face. The prices are more than fair maker value. I've been to many music stores in SA and Austin and this is one of the best. They don't pretend to know it all and aren't trying to up-sale to annoyance. From vintage to modern they may have what you're looking for. Give them a shot. read more

My cousin recommended this place to me after he and several of his friends had bought guitars there. I went there around lunchtime just to see what they had, when I first pulled up I wasn't so sure about the place as it's not much to look at from the outside, but once I got inside i was convinced this was the best place ever. The three guys there were AWSOME to talk to and they where willing to give me honest advise into what they thought would be best for me without being 'salesman- like'. I finally found the perfect guitar, but it was a little out of my price range seeing as I would need to buy accessories for it later. The guys there where willing to bargain with me and work out a price that i could afford. As I said earlier, the outside isn't much to look at, no flashy colors or neon singes, but one of the things that I found impressive was how clean everything was. All of the guitars where clean and tuned, and the guys themselves where very clean and polite. I could not have asked for a better store!!!!!! read more

I was supposed to be in and out to drop off my guitar for a setup. I walked in and felt like I was ignored. Not even an acknowledgment that I was there. I thought "whatever no big deal it's a guitar shop, what do you expect". I patiently waited for my turn to be seen to drop my guitar off while the customers before me were being very chatty. My dog was waiting in my car (don't worry it was running with the AC on) so my internal clock started ticking. So I wait right in front of the cash register counter to be seen to drop my guitar off. Even while standing there for more than 5 minutes this new customer walks in with an amp that he's going to sell and guess what? He gets seen right away cutting in front of me. So told the other rep who was just sitting there watching me "hey man, I'm just here to drop off a guitar and I been waiting patiently." Then I handle my business which took less than a minute and then head out of there. I don't want to take it to this extreme but I was the youngest one in the room and a person of color so I hope this wasn't the reason my experience was so poor. I was going to buy a pedal today too but after this experience I'm going to take my money elsewhere from now on. read more

They have a good selection and do good work (had them swap out a pickup), but their customer service is sometimes irksome. I've been in there a handful of times, so I may have caught them on some bad days. A lot of eating going on behind the counter....we're dealing with instruments here, not washing cars. Clean hands and a store that doesn't reek of onions would be more appealing. Also, their prices can be a little on the high side. read more

I recently had the nut replaced on my '94 Squier bullet strat here. they easily have the best selection of vintage Fender guitars in San Antonio, they always have a variety of new and vintage Mustangs which are my favorite body style. they also have more spare parts and electronic components for customizing your guitar than anywhere else in town. the customer service and repair work are superb. it is always a pleasure to visit Spacetone read more

I have been a customer at Spacetone for over 9 years now - before they had the swanky shop on Austin Highway. They have an extraordinary selection of vintage and used guitars and a solid selection of amps and effects. The employees are incredibly helpful and friendly. You might end up paying a bit more for things like strings and some other new products than you would at Guitar Center or Sam Ash. I don't mind paying a few extra bucks though to support a local business, though. Besides, they have cut me some great deals on used stuff. My favorite part, though? One time I was browsing in their store, some years ago, and some jackass plugged into a Marshall half stack and proceeded to shred away at an unreasonably high volume. One of the guys working immediately went up to him and asked him to turn it down. Few guitar stores care so much about maintaining an environment that doesn't induce headaches. read more

Made the drive up from Austin to look at a used guitar. They adjusted the truss rod on the spot for me, and the owner gave me a new pop in tremolo arm when we realized that the original was missing. Overall, very happy with the purchase. This guitar is a keeper after polishing the frets and setting it up how I like it. They have some really cool vintage amps too. read more

Super happy with my new (to me) amp. It needed some soldering a few days past what their return policy was but they fixed her up free of charge. Relaxed, pleasant staff and store environment. Totally worth the drive from ATX to SA! read more

Spacetone Music is great place to shop for guitar gear. The reason it's great, is not because of the selection of cool guitars, amps, pedals, etc., BUT because the folks that work there are great at working with you.
