Two Martin guitars I purchased from Guitar Tex.
    Brandon C.

I first found Guitar Tex when looking for someone to fix the binding on my Martin D18. It separated and I went to three places that refused to touch it because they didn't know how to do it properly. Finally I went to guitar Tex and they said they could do it. I could tell they could, too. Everyone in there just oozes experience. These people know what they're doing. It did take quite a few weeks to get the work done, so keep that in mind. It's one or two fellas working on a slew of instruments. You have to take a number! But when you get it back, it's like brand new. After that experience, I decided this would be my go to shop. I have purchased two Martin guitars from them: two Martin D28s one old and one new. They offer fair prices for their instruments and even worked on the newer D28 I purchased to get the action down a bit for free! They're nice, the shop is nice, the services they offer are nice, and the gear is nice. I want them to take my money because I want them to stay in business. I will say if you're into electric guitars, they have a pretty small selection. Acoustic selection is amazing.

Gus was so helpful with my questions, he even took the time to sit down with me and show me tuning and a few simple chords.

They also do not appear to be a PRS authorized dealer anymore I posted my review elsewhere and was not going to add it here but based on their reply want to get it posted The claim that these instruments had functional issues or 'body splitting' is a blatant fabrication used to justify a $300 offer on instruments that routinely sell for way more. The Strat is a 'Closet Classic'--it is designed by the Fender Custom Shop to have checking and age. To use factory relicing as an excuse to offer 10% of market value is either a lack of product knowledge or a deliberate attempt to mislead. The $4600 dollar guitar I was looking at looked like it had Lost a long-time customer today. I've been a loyal supporter of Lark Guitars for years, spending a substantial amount of money here and recommending them to others despite their premium pricing. I believe in supporting local shops, but after today, I will never step foot in this establishment again. I went in today prepared to purchase a $4,600 Custom Shop Telecaster. For trade-in, I brought a PRS SC 58 and a Fender Custom Shop Closet Classic Stratocaster. After waiting, I was met with an insulting offer of $300 per guitar ($600 total). Claiming these high-end instruments are "too beat up" to offer more than entry-level Squier prices is either a blatant attempt to scam a loyal customer or a total lack of product knowledge. For a shop that deals in boutique gear, they should know exactly what those models are worth. I packed my gear and walked out. If you value your instruments or your time, I suggest you look elsewhere. They've lost my business for good.

Before signing up, I asked if the instructor would be able to handle a high-energy toddler and were reassured that it wouldn't be an issue. Unfortunately, that didn't seem to be the case. While I understand the importance of structure and rules, the approach taken didn't feel supportive or age-appropriate. There were moments where he seemed to be singled out or excluded--for example, when other children were given instruments and he was not. He was also removed from class, which for a 30-minute session means he missed the entire experience, without other options offered (like having a parent assist). I completely understand that not every class is the right fit for every child, but at this age, patience and redirection go a long way. It was disappointing because he genuinely enjoyed being there. I hope the program can consider a more supportive approach for younger children who are still learning how to navigate structured environments.

This class was just 30 minutes every Saturday morning and my kiddo absolutely loved it. The teacher was super patient with the little ones, and made it a very fun experience for everyone. Unfortunately the class was removed off the program and he will no longer be able to attend. However, I look forward to coming back to Music on Magnolias once he is older and he can attend their Music Exploration classes.

There are so many things to consider when buying online. You need to know that the people you are dealing with are honest and honorable. You will not find better people than Chris McKee and Cooper Greenberg. They are the best. You also want to make sure the people that you talk to are guitar experts. Just check out Chris' and Coopers' You Tube channel, Alamo Music Center, and watch their informative and entertaining guitar review videos. You will come away impressed by their expertise and knowledge. They want to make sure you select a guitar that meets your criteria and your needs rather than just trying to sell you a guitar. You want a store that treats the customer with respect and bends over backwards to make sure a customer is satisfied. I can vouch from personal experience that they know how to treat a customer right. I have purchased guitars from some of the biggest guitar places in the US and none of them come even close to meeting all of the criteria I have listed above, except for Alamo Music Center. I have purchased my last two guitars from them and will always go to Alamo Music Center first. Check them out and maybe like me Alamo Music Center will become your favorite and go to guitar store. Pro Tip: When they have a sale pay attention and peruse the inventory for your next guitar. Their deals are fantastic! Thank you, Alamo Music Center!

We walked in expecting to see some guitars and amps, we knew they had pianos and stuff. We thought we would wonder through and say, "Been there." And have a little check mark, you know? Well walked in the front door and saw Cooper at a desk on a computer... I was gob smacked! For some reason I never really expected to see Cooper or Chris but there he was. Introduced myself and to keep from looking the complete fanboy idiot I asked bout a Yamaha Tas3. They had one, so I asked Cooper to demo the loop function (sly of me, I know) and he laid down a simple thing I had seen him play on YouTube before. Wonderful! We had a brief discussion about it and he gave me a little discount, put new 10's on it, checked it over and shipped it home to Florida for free. Great service, great local music store feel, great experience.
