I'm a full time musician and frequent guitar shops all around the nation. My wife and I recently visited San Antonio and decided to stop into Lark since I've followed them for a while on the socials. They are under new management from what I understand and the new manager is awesome. He was incredibly helpful as were all the staff. They answered all my questions even going as far as to google things for me. I started looking at an amp I was really digging so I started A/Bing amps and by the time I was done that had just about rearranged the show room and I was surrounded by amps and pedals. 1st class service and I loved it. Just wont be using them again. My amp arrived with a foot controller damage and some broken plastic tabs in the back of the amp and it took a lot of back and forth to get it taken care of. They did finally take care of it in the end but it was a bad experience for me and the person who I was conversing with was slow on response and wouldn't respond to all of my emails. He had a bit of a high horse attitude if you ask me. read more

If you have 4k, or so, to drop on an acoustic guitar, don't come here. Mentioned I was in the market for an acoustic for around 4k and there immediate response was, "we don't have anything in that price range". Which, after looking around there were quite a few in that price range. 4k to drop on a guitar and no help, very dismissive, and very rude. These guys think they have the best guitars ever. Also, many of their guitars were 4-500 dollars above new priced guitars of the same model I've seen elsewhere. Save yourself the time and go to Alamo Music Center. Much more friendly and they don't mind you playing their guitars at all. Lark is such a stuffy and stuck up place. read more

I have been searching high and low for the perfect gift for my fiance's birthday. He is a really talented shredder (lead guitarist) and has a couple of dream guitars. One of them is Yngwie Malmsteen's guitar, which he recently got himself and the other is David Gilmour of Pink Floyd. Well, the second dream guitar is a custom design that is extremely expensive. I haven't been able to find one reasonably priced. However, I did find one that was in mint condition online that was marked down slightly. I worked with a guy named Clint Franzen online haggling over the price. He was friendly and we negotiated a really good deal. He shipped the guitar right away and my fiance' received it yesterday. He played it with the biggest smile on his face. He is very pleased with his new baby. I couldn't be happier when I see him smile like that. Probably the highest-end guitar and amp store in San Antonio/South Texas. They carry some very fine instruments from Lowden, PRS, Two-Rock (amps) and others. There is a bit of judging that goes on as they decide if you can pay for an instrument which is a bit odd but seems to dissipate depending on what you ask to see. Outstanding guitar store! As an LA native who as been playing for 41 years and now moving to San Antonio, (was also a military officer so traveled the world and seen many shops!) I went looking for a new "home" guitar store. This is it! The sales people were knowledgeable, friendly, and CAN PLAY. Not your Guitar Center/ Sam Ash experience. High end and mid range guitars and amps for the serious player at any level. Their website and guitars for sale are impressive (much more online than they have room for on their walls). In full transparency, I did not negotiate any deals this time, but would rather spend my money at a quality store that knows its business and offers solid customer service. If you are only looking for a deal, learn to buy on Reverb and become an amateur luthier (like I also am) and then you can have what you want at a significant deal because you can fix it yourself (and you will most likely have to fix it... every used purchase requires some type of repairs or setup). Great store, great selection of killer guitars, acoustic and electric. They have a huge selection of pedals and pedalboard accessories that you can hold in your hand and see how big they are and compare sizes for board building (the MXR brick is tiny!). I'll start off by saying I downloaded this app just to review Lark Guitars. Overall the looks of the store is awesome. The gear is alright. Typical walls of strats and hollow bodies to attract your first time guitar buyers. BUT The service was BUNK. One guy was in the back chilling the entire time cutting his nails. Not one of them asked if I needed help, or if there was anything I was looking for. Not digging man. Not at all. I didn't appreciate the lack of service. Tourist, locals, San Anto natives. Yesterday, I went into Lark fully expecting to quickly check the shop out and go buy a guitar somewhere else. Instead i ended up buying a guitar and amp. Both the store manager and the sales rep were outstanding. The inventory is almost overwhelming. They took the time to get to know me, my playing level and what I was looking for.
