It took me a while to realize that after the 3-month period ended, I was still being charged. After tracking down Edgard, the owner, he would only communicate via text. After some crazy back-and-forth it turned out HE USED MY CREDIT CARD TO PAY FOR ANOTHER CLIENT'S CLASSES. I realized this, that's right, I realized it, he didn't, after he sent me some screen shots (I'll upload them here), showing the picture and personal information of an adult man, John Meyers, who is decidedly not my elementary aged nephew. Also, please note that that Edgard also sent me private information of one of his clients. What's worse I doubt he realizes what a violation this is. Edgard said he would return my money in a few days. He did not. I asked again after a month he said he needed more time to figure out how with his team how this happened. I told him he could figure that out on his own time. He still did not refund my money. I went to my credit card company and they did refund partially but since some of the charges were so old they would not refund those. They attempted several times to contact Edgard but he would not answer his phone or call them back. His actions are unethical, inept, and with zero regard. Do business with this person at your own risk. **I was able to track down John Meyers and spoke with his wife who had realized that they were not being charged & thought it was odd. After many months they were also unable to get Edgard to speak with them. Unfortunately, even though they know that I paid for their classes, they did not offer to give me back the money either.

Many people attend this club and seem to be loyal and dedicated. They are helpful with anyone who is new if you are serious about whatever you are signing up for. The owners are hardworking and dedicated. It's a family owned and operated business. They have great achievements under their belts. Music played here is PG-13, not good for the little ears. (Unless that's what they hear at home) Children are not allowed to hangout during your workout session unsupervised. They have limited seating for those who are waiting on someone. This is not a troll post. I am being so serious. This place is a joke. Don't listen to these fake…read morereviews. Compare gyms and shop around. Talk to the higher belts at other gyms. I have met multiple higher belts at other gyms that have left Genesis because their jiujitsu was getting WORSE. BEWARE OF THIS PLACE. The 5 star reviews are all fake. DO NOT TRAIN HERE!!! Especially if you are new to jiujitsu. 1. The techniques being taught here are completely incorrect. You will be learning very bad jiujitsu. 2. This place is incredibly cliqy. Wendell the owner loves to claim "family" setting but he has his favorites and loves to micro manage. Not a good place to enjoy yourself while learning jiujitsu. 3. Don't listen to the people who train there. They are either too new to know any better. OR they are one of Wendell's little pawns that follow his every word and believe everything he says. 4. There are no higher belts. Think about it. They have been open a long time and ALOT of higher belts have came and left. Myself included. Because we have been training long enough and have trained at enough places to spot the red flags. 5. Wendell has lower belts teaching techniques that are just as bad if not worse than how Wendell teaches. You are paying full price for bad technique and blue belt teachers who don't know what they are doing.

When I began I had absolutely no experience, was a bit scared, out of shape and knew nothing. Jiu-Jitsu is very demanding and it will make you want to eat better so that you always feel good and strong, work out more or harder so you have strength for when you train, sleep better so that you can get up to accomplish your goals, and it will give you a level of confidence for self defense that you never had before because you will gain experience really applying the art to people much bigger or smaller than you. Professor Gabetta is a true master of his craft that has dedicated his life every single day to his art and the betterment of this community. Our gym continues to grow and grow and it is truly a special place to be. Genesis is also a very space place for both women and children. The women that train at Genesis are all badasses and Jiu-Jitsu is also probably the best martial arts for a child and there is a large daily children's class full of kids that are learning to defend themselves in an incredibly effective way while also learning the discipline and respect that comes from training a martial art. Whether you're out of shape, in great shape, have a ton or no experience, or just need something to become dedicated to, you will feel proud of yourself after each class and really thank yourself for joining Genesis Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

The kickboxing class is so much fun. Our instructors keep encouraging us & pushing us to keep going. At first I didn't think I could finish the warm up but now I'm there for every class. The owner is always there too. Family man - nice guy. They have kids classes, adult BJJ and now a weight training class. We are hooked and dedicated to the academy. Feeling the best we ever have in years.
