Recent transplant from Austin, TX and it's the closest we've found so far in the area to have a relaxed feel vibe a la Austin. Love the coziness of the venue, the friendliness of the bar tender and the range of craft beers. The love-seat at front under chandelier are very comfortable- good ambiance. Also enjoyed the sweet potatoes with cajun seasoning- would be six stars if the cajun spice was amped up withTony Cherere's seasoning (but being cajun, I'm totally biased). Dark, hidden within a corner. DEFINATELY would not recommend if it's your first time going here.

It's a great place to hang out listen to music and eat delicious food after a long day of work. They have 'not your father's root beer' which is my favorite drink. I had two burgers and basket of fries very good. Worth to check out! read more

This bar is amazing! If you like a down to earth, off the beaten path bar with great food, beer selection, and atmosphere then this is definitely where you want to be! They have the best local music play here 7 days a week and a trivia night! If you don't love frequenting here then you can't call yourself a local business supporter, this is as local as it get. read more

I only gave this one star because I think you have to. The customer service was awful. We came in and sat there for twenty minutes with no acknowledgement. So we went up to the bar to ask for a waitress and thy told us it's be a few more minutes. After fifteen minutes passed still no one so we ordered drinks at the bar. Finally after 50 minutes of waiting a waitress comes up to take our food order. We had six people. One dinner came out first with nothing else and fifteen minutes later two more and so on. I mean I felt like I was literally in outer space. I will never go back to this bar and can honestly say it was the worst bar restaurant experience I've had to date read more

I like the Outer Space for 2 reasons; (1.) It is an excellent live music/art space and (2.) It's just a damn good drinking establishment. I tend to find myself hanging out there for specific musical acts but ultimately could see it as a fun regular spot as well. The interior fit out is rustic, homemade, and has an Art Deco vibe that reminds me of what an early 1900's speak easy could have been like. The sound quality is great for live music. Every time I have been here (4 times) there has been a different type of crowd, (depending on the music) but I had never had a bad time. The beer selection is good, but the prices are even better. Patrons get a nice mircro-brew selection as well as Dive Bar beers without actually being in a dive bar. When in the mood to see local music, there are few things better than holding a tall boy can of PBR while rocking out. I agree that the mood and bartenders are a nice part of going there, but I was unable to get myself to eat the pizza (it might be good). There is always a cover on live music nights and the location is a bit hidden, but well worth the trip. I definitely recommend Outer space, especially to the "artistically inclined" and music enthusiast. read more

Don't let anything deter you from coming inside and enjoying a really fantastic evening with friends or just by yourself. The craft beers are plenty and very tasty. The owner and his staff are the friendliest group I have come across in the northeast thus far and the music is live and REALLY good! I can't wait to go back! A hidden gem tucked away in Hamden by southern ct. Owner is a real person in touch with his business. I enjoy coming here and listening to the locals. Never bored always a good time! Prices are fair and crowd is friendly. Get a Innis & Gunn, phenomenal beer! read more

6 of us went there to have a few beers and get a bite to eat. To start with the waitress never came over to our table for at least 20 minutes. I went to the bar to ask if there was a waitress and the bartender said yes she will be over, again we waited for at least another 10 minutes and no waitress so my brother went up and ordered our drinks at the bar and the bartender said yes you can order your food through me also. The waitress finally appears and gives us menus another 15 minutes so instead of waiting I went to order the food with the bartender who then retracts that he can take our order (why we stayed I do not know). Finally the waitress takes our order , two cheeseburgers, jalapeno poppers and a buffalo chicken wrap with Cajun fries. The food was the absolute worst food I ever had at a bar, the burger was dried up and smelled like meatloaf and there was no cheese. The chicken wrap was frozen chicken with so much hot sauce it was inedible and the Cajun fries had no Cajun spice it tasted like it was just covered in cayenne pepper. I was so disappointed as this is close to my house and the music was good and they have a wide selection of beer on tap. If you just want beer and music this might be the place for you but I strongly suggest not eating there at all. It was not friendly either. read more

if zero was an option, we would provide this DUMP with that. the concerts would be good if they were what they are advertised on their website. subpar bands opening for the headliners who took up the majority of the time and wasted people's time and money. We planned to see beach fossils at 8 (what was advertised online), but when we arrived, the worker told us that the opening acts would be playing at 8 -10 (WHAT?!!) and beach fossils would play at 10. False advertising. The audacity to think they can make people sit through 2 hours of sucky bands that we didn't want to see/pay for (aka. Arthur) is outrageous. Needless to say, Arthur has no artistic ability or talent and we don't know how this band books venues. If you see that they are playing, turn the opposite direction and run for your life, as the voice of the lead singer will traumatize you. his voice is emblematic of the sounds before you go to hell. I cannot stress enough how much of time and money this was. Please call ahead to see what time the concert ACTUALLY starts, so you don't have to sit through 2 hours of unwanted crap. read more
