Fabulous place! My GF and I had spent 4 days walking in NYC so we wanted a good foot massage. The 1 hour foot massage was worth more than they charge .... Much more! I booked our appointments via email/online then followed up an hour later with a phone call. The telephone communication was a bit strained due to a language barrier but when we arrived they were waiting on us. For non city people, getting into the building and the appearance in the hallway going up the stairs was concerning at first, however, once the door was opened to Spa 45 it was pure bliss! read more

I would give this place zero stars if possible. They advertise their massages as $45 leaving out the fact that it's an additional $5 to use credit card or you can use their bootleg ATM that's probably going to charge you at least $5 in fees. There is also a $10 minimum tip policy that they tell you BEFORE you get the massage. I actually planned tipping upwards of $15 (because that's what I usually tip) but being told it's mandatory is unacceptable. I also noticed that they were strictly enforcing this with the minority customers. When other people walked in they were greeted with a smile and meanwhile my friends and other people of color were drilled with the "additional fees." What a joke! Why not say the massage is $55 instead of $45 with mandatory tip? Do not come here. Do not waste your time. You can find a good quality massage place that is not a scam on Groupon or wait until spa week. This place is not worth it. Don't waste your time or money. You're welcome. read more

Oh goodness this was amazing. I do Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and have a stressful job; tension tends to build on my neck and shoulders. I went into Spa45 a little skeptical because the reviews of previous people. I must say...very impressive and relaxing. I told the woman that I was on my lunch break and she got me into a room right away. Lisa was my masseuse and she was wonderful! She worked out the stress on my back and worked out the kinks on my neck. She every stretched out my hip flexors because she felt them very tight. I gladly gave her a $15 tip because she did a great job. The pricing is disclosed at the front desk on a giant sign, so please don't act like it's not posted. Was told over the phone that spa and wellness giftcards are accepted, but they refused to take it once the massage was over. Unpleasant and costly surprise for me, but I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and assume it was the language barrier that prompted the false information... Went to Spa45 for a couple massage. Although the actual massage was great for my husband and I , we were celebrating our 15 year anniversary. We did not like that there was a $10 mandatory tip fee. We had never had massages before so we didn't know if this is a common practice for massage, but it wasn't cool to find out after payment the was an additional fee. I gave this spa 5 stars because the price is right and the service is great. I went in for a one hour massage and whoa..my masseuse was awesome. Her name is Jesse. She doesn't speak English very well but her hands do the talking. Honestly, the place was no frills but it was clean and staff was great. There is a special package 10 60-min massage for $380 ( that"s $38 each). I asked if I can reduce the package to just 5 times but they wouldn't let me. I don't live in the area so It's hard for me to commit to buying the 10 package deal. Other than that, no complaints about this place. read more

I absolutely love this spa. Clean, relaxing and fast. My favorites are Hana (really strong hands and she walks on your back which is sooo great) and Simon. Let's not even forget the fact that you get an HOUR for $45. How low can you go? I don't understand how people can tip these great massage therapists as low as $5. Do you know what that is? A slap in the face. Tipping is important in NYC. I always tip Hana more than $15. read more

The owner of Spa 45 owns several massage places in the city. I normally go to the one she owns in Forest Hills Queens where everybody is very professional and the massage is alway great. I was excited to hear about this location in Midtown from the receptionist in queens since I'm in Midtown almost everyday. I made an appointment here at midnight on a Tuesday. I specifically asked the prices and was told it was $45 for one hour of body massage, and $35 for one hour foot massage. In their Queens location, it's $40 and $30 respectively. Upon arriving I was greeted with smiles from 2 women. I was then told it was an additional $5 since it was after midnight. I have no problems paying the extra $5, but asked why I wasn't told when I made the appointment for 12am. It became a big debacle after that. They started to argue with me over the $5 which I had already agreed to pay. I told them it was poor business to walk in and have the price change after being told something else. I mentioned I would pay the extra but would not be coming back and surprisingly they didn't seem to care. One of the ladies said she would have to call the owner and then another lady came out who wanted me explain again what I was trying to say. Mind you, I speak Chinese so it wasn't a matter of a language barrier. This ridiculous discussion amongst themselves about the $5 went on for about 10 minutes. I finally stated I was leaving and reiterated that I don't know what all the discussion was about since I had already agreed to pay the extra $5 when I walked in. I finally got my massage but will never return. A very poor experience and not relaxing at all. To lose a potential good customer over $5 is simply stupid. Any professional place would have never said anything until u got ready to leave and it would have went like this, "I'm not sure if you knew, but it is an additional five dollars for after midnight appointments. If you didn't know then tonight we'll charge you the daytime price and next time when you come back, you'll know it's $5 extra after midnight." That's what a good business would have done. read more

Do not come here! Don't be fooled by the reasonable cost and the inviting environment. Had the worst foot massage ever here! The staff aren't well trained and the girl had a bad attitude. To top it off, when I complained at the front desk and left a 20% tip, she receptionist pointed to a small sign saying that the minimum tip for 1 hour of service is $10. Not the place to get a facial!!! Don't expect to get a "deep cleaning" facial as they advertise. Walked in with blackheads and walked out with the same blackheads. The lady didn't do any extractions! This is the first time ever not getting an extraction at a facial. Instead the lady started to pluck my eyebrows. I had to stop her and tell her not to touch the brows! At this point I was so confused... She didn't speak english so I couldn't ask her anything. First and last time at this place. The receptionist DEMANDED a $15 tip on my $71 bill. That was very unpleasant and unprofessional to be HARASSED in front of other clients. It was a waste of time and money!!! And you don't even get the full 60 or 30 minutes that you're suppose to get. The masseuse kept coughing and go back out for water. Yelp should have negative ratings because that's the rating I would give Spa45. Just stopped by for what I thought was going to be a quick, relaxing 30-minute massage. The masseuse I had went apt SH** on me. I should have listen to my gut instinct when she was mumbling incoherently to herself, walks out and comes back with a can of Lysol which she sprayed in the air (I was already lying face-down at this point). She comes back, ask if I want her to walk on my back (I'm 5.0 feet and 90 pounds) to which I've obviously said no thanks. She proceeds to to roughly reposition my arms, drops it on the table as if I was a piece of meat. Five minutes in, I get some foul smelling cream smeared on my backside (after I'd specifically said no oil, etc). She makes a started noise to which I asked, oh, what's wrong. That's when she suddenly does not understand a world of English and rudely said, "I'm trying to work here", which was the last straw. After that I asked for the manager who wanted to charge $20 for 5 minutes of work. UNBELIEVABLE. NEVER AGAIN. YOU JUST LOST A REGULAR CUSTOMER. read more
