This is by far my favorite Souvenirshop in all of Amsterdam. The staff is great, the two guys working there always remember the Crazy American girl that buys them out of house and home.
They have a wide variety of smoking tools, and herbals to smoke. Two herbals sold there are wild lettuce and leonotis leonurus. Common names for leonotis lenonurus are wild dagga and lion's tail. Wild lettuce has a sedative effect, you can smoke it or make a tea with it. It comes in both forms, they can tell you whether or not it is to be smoked or used in a tea. It has a opiate type sedation to it. Leonotis leonurus is to be smoked. It has a very nice aroma to it. When smoked it provides a mild sedation. I have told it has been used to treat generalized anxiety disorder. It was known to be smoked in Hottentot tribe of Central Africa for a euphoric effect. These are two of the great treasures you can find at Baba.
They have a great blown glass collection and their prices are fair, I tend to favor this store due to the service and the dudes working are simply cool. Many of these shops people tend to be uncool or foreign (not from the Netherlands), so I like to give Baba my money.
Also you can find a wide range of Hindi and Krishna statues and texts.
The Baba Souvenir Shop is situated 100 meters from Baba Coffee Shop, on Warmoestraat in Amsterdam's Red Light District. read more
