If I could give it no stars I would. I had a horrible experience getting my hair done with John…read more He's very unprofessional and thinks clients want to hear him complain about how he hates Marathon , hates living here, The receptionist doesn't know how to make appointments right, he's sick and tired of getting women with long hair down to their ass like mine etc. Turns out after talking to a couple locals about my experience he's known for having such a horrible attitude. On top of dealing with the horrible attitude at one point in the conversation he told me I was young and didn't know what I was talking about when I tried to explain the reasons why I like living in Marathon and how I see potential for it to improve. Very rude and ageist. I'm in my 30s, I've lived here for over five years, have a house here, 2 businesses here and I've been coming to the Keys since I was a kid so I'm not clueless. He was so busy complaining I watched the clock and it took him a little over 30 minutes just to wash my hair and brush it out. I wanted my hair washed, blow dried and slightly curled with giant waves. I left there with crimps in my hair and my hair not even curled all the way. I do admit I was in his chair five minutes late but him not getting me done was definitely because he was unfocused. To make things even worse after having a weekend where I couldn't stop thinking about how rude this guy was to me I called the manager to see if I could have somebody else redo my hair. She only offered me 15% off which is a disgrace. Had she allowed for another stylist to do my hair again for 50% off at least I would have been a long-term customer (and I leave great tips) but now she has lost me and my friends as customers forever and I will always recommend against this place. Left John a $15 tip just because I pity him. I admit I'm too nice sometimes and I should have walked out while he was brushing my wet hair.

Found this place open for Monday and thought YAYYYYY. We had to be in town for last minute things anyways, so we just stopped in as soon as they opened. The lady at the front gave us a look like we immediately annoyed her by walking in her door. She was on the phone, rolled her eyes and asked them to hold, put her mask sort of up to her mouth and asked what we wanted. I said we were looking for nails for both of us and a cut for my bride. She got so MAD! Her: Harumph I couldn't get you in until 1. Me: ok, do you know of anywhere around here to get them done earlier? Her: NO. Me: You really don't know any other place in this tiny town to get nails or hair done. Her: NO. Me: I find that hard to believe. Her: ((wait for it)) you can try the nail place THREE DOORS DOWN in the SAME STRIP! Literally about 50 ft. I realize nobody wants to lose business, but that was just so beyond ridiculously rude for absolutely no reason. She could have been even the slightest bit helpful and suggest the nail place straight away, but felt the need to make visitors feel crappy on their special day. It really is hard to figure out who is open and when here in the island towns. We did our homework and their page said no appointment needed. Oh well. Her loss....and it's a big one. Good job lady.

Ok so originally I had a really bad experience here…read more.. However, I want to update this review because the owner leidy, reached out right away, refunded me, and had me come back in. She personally redid my nails and was extremely careful and attentive. The second experience was much better, and I appreciated how seriously they took the situation and made it right. Because of that, I'm updating my rating to reflect both experiences and their effort to fix it. Here's new nails done. Much different experience this time much appreciated.

Disappointing Experience and Poor Time Management…read more I was really disappointed with my experience today. I called two days in advance to schedule an appointment for Wednesday at 10 AM. When I arrived, both nail technicians were working with other clients. I completely understand that appointments can run behind, so I patiently waited. After about 15 minutes, one technician finished with her client, acknowledged that I was waiting, and told me it would be another 10 minutes. Instead, she proceeded to give another woman a manicure while sitting at the pedicure station. That additional 10-minute wait turned into approximately 20 minutes. When she finally came over to begin my appointment, she was interrupted again to help the other technician and then spent time responding to appointment-related text messages on her phone, all while I was still sitting there waiting. At this point, my appointment was already running about 45 minutes behind schedule. The salon appeared to be understaffed, and I understand how stressful that can be. However, this situation could have been avoided with a simple phone call letting me know they were running behind and asking if I could come in at 11 instead. I made an appointment for a reason. My time is valuable, just like everyone else's, and I felt that it wasn't respected today. Unfortunately, I won't be returning.
