As my parents have needed a bit more assistance, I (their daughter) have taken them to appointments. I live in Texas, so it can be quite challenging to be sure everything is taken care of in the best possible way. Last week when I was in St. Louis visiting my mom, I found that she had lost one of her hearing aids, which was really limiting her ability to interact and be fully part of conversations. I contacted Dr. Juelich's office, realizing we would likely need to wait several weeks to get the situation resolved, mentally planning when I might be able to return for follow-up. Grace, however, was miraculously able to schedule an appointment that day at a different office, and Dr. Juelich went above and beyond to figure out a solution. My mom can now hear quite well - better than she has for many months! We are so thankful and highly recommend Dr. Juelich and her staff. When I went to pick it up and asked how much for the repair, they told me it was free! I picked them up on February 6th of this year and even now I'm still emotional about it. ______________________________ I was triggered today. When I was very young, probably about 5 years old, I got my first hearing aids. Me, age 5ish, walking out of the office at Central Institute for the Deaf: Me: "What's that?!" Parents: "Someone typing on a typewriter." Walking outside... Me: "What's that?!" Parents: "Birds chirping." EVERY sound was new. Startling, overwhelming at times, but exciting. My whole world changed that day. Me, walking out of the office at Southwestern Hearing Center today (Feb 6, 2019) - MUCH older Having just picked up some amazingly advanced and powerful new hearing aids: Me: "What's that?!" It triggered me. Didn't matter what the sound was (turned out to be the sound of a door latching shut down the hall.). But as soon as I said "What's that?!" I became so emotional. Laura at Southwestern Hearing Centers not only took the time to listen to what I felt my issues were, but tested me, made a recommendation and even still allowed me to go a little bit different than she recommended. It took about a week from first visit to delivery, but I gotta say, it was well worth the wait!! We tried some of the different settings in the office, but they didn't really make a difference until I was in an actual place to use it.
