Our condo heat stopped working. Our furnace went out on New Year's Eve. I called about 10 different places but most were shut down for the holiday. Dave came out the next day to take a look and got the furnace running again. Having heat when the evening temps dip into the single digits is really important. I can't thank Dave enough for being willing to come out and to fix the issue so quickly. Since it was a furnace from the 90s, we are going to have Dave install a new one. I'll write a follow-up review once we've tested it. read more

Dave is responsive and extremely competent. His rates are reasonable. We have an old HVAC system. He cam out the day I called him and was able to diagnose the cause of our fan failure as a failing controller board. He ordered the right fan controller board online and came back the next week and fixed our system. We are very happy with both quality and value. read more

The company we were using to maintain our furnace recently informed us that they no longer service fuel-oil units. So when the furnace started blowing cold air (still winter weather outside), we had to quickly find someone who could help. Found Dave on Yelp and called him up. He came out that day, diagnosed the problem and rushed the broken part for installation. He also noticed that the furnace which had been maintained by a highly rated company, was not properly installed (wrong jets). Previous company never noticed. I was having an issue with my pilot light and hired Southwest heating because they had the earliest available appointment. The service man (sorry, I don't remember his name) was prompt and nice. He came over and "fixed" the problem. Months later the same problem as occurring so Southwest came again and decided now that they now needed to order a part and install. Why first visit is a mystery. Well, the problem still exists and I finally decided to cut my losses and call someone else. The very first thing they did was clean under the water heater, which was filthy and has solved the issue. I feel like I completely wasted $400. read more

My house in Tahoe Donner in Truckee had a flood in 2011 and the insulation and heating system had to be torn out. The heating system was put back improperly by an out of town sub-contractor who could not make it work after too many attempts. In the winter of 2012 the upstairs was cold and other rooms were out of balance. Several HVAC contractors indicated they would not be interested in fixing someone else's bad work. I was given Southwest Heating's name in August 2013 and they were responsive, came out within 3 days, diagnosed the problems as an open vent to nowhere, unfinished work, and lack of controls to each vent line. They performed the repair and balancing work 3 days later in a very cramped crawlspace, and my heating systems now works like it did before the flood: quietly, efficiently, and with balanced heat to all rooms. The cost of repair was less than I anticipated. Their foreman, Lucas, was enthusiastic and knowledgeable, explained the problems clearly and called to explain the outcome after the work was finished. The owner, Dave, was polite, willing to work on a botched job, and got the right people to the job quickly and inexpensively. Discovered that the furnace in our vacation property was not heating and the inside temperature was dropping rapidly so we made a mad dash up to Truckee to find out what was going on. The next day, Southwest heating was the first of 5 that we called and one of only 2 who responded (one was already booked solid). He showed up on time and he was done and gone within 30 minutes.
