I had perfectly healthy eyes, a very low prescription, and moderate cataracts prior to surgery when Dr Morgan Miller referred me for a cataract consultation with Southwest Eye to see if it would help with night driving and reading. With the first complication, Dr Clark matter of factly stated, "One out of a hundred" was the statistic. His unempathetic, flat response to the second damaged eye was, "One in a thousand." I don't know if those are his personal statistics in damaging eyes, or if it's an industry statistic, but in the pamphlet provided at the office it stated that complications are rare and during the consultation, complications were not even mentioned whatsoever. I would not have let him touch my eyes for the second surgery If the complication from the first surgery had shown up (chronic black floaters) beforehand. The second eye surgery resulted in a more devastating complication, whereas now my right eye is blurry, feels too large in my eye socket and chronically feels as if there is an irritant in my eye. At 72 years old, I had never had an issue with my eyes other than needing corrective lenses. Dr Sarah Haug, the Retinal Specialist at Southwest Eye attempted to do damage control and lasered a hole in that eye, however, the symptoms have not been alleviated fully. After a follow up from that procedure, she informed me that the surgeries have "Accelerated the aging of my eyes." Another words-- DAMAGED EYES. I seriously regret having gone to Southwest Eye Associates. I have one more follow-up in April, and would like to be hopeful that healing is possible, but so far the experience has been a medical nightmare. What will my vision be like in my 80s if this is the outcome??! read more

There is a lack of professionalism by everyone I met. I actually called the front desk after waiting 45 minutes in an exam room with eyes dilated. This was the second long wait, too. The 1st time was maybe 30 minutes. I spent over 2 hours for an appointment in which I had maybe 20 to 25 minutes with staff. Rescheduling was incorrect. Front staff tried to blame a new hire, but everytime she asked for help she was ignored. I haven't seen this level of incompetence in decades.​ read more

I had a follow-up appointment today for cataract surgery and vitrectomies. Much as I dread the drive to Durango from Farmington, I walked out of their office feeling much better. The medical assistants here are wonderful. Swane is not only competent, but so amiable, just a pleasure to be around. Dr. Fenberg's other two assistants (sorry for not getting their names) are kind and professional. read more

Dr. Moss Fenberg is an exceptional ophthalmologist I went to the Durango office for a total of three surgeries: a retinal peel and cataract surgeries in both eyes on different dates. Dr. Fenberg has performed more than 10,000 cataract removals and lens implants. There's no substitute for experience. He also cares deeply about his patients well-being. A trait that is echoed by the staff in his office. This remote area of Colorado is very lucky to have such a competent and caring ophthalmology practice located in Durango. read more

Unbelievably long wait times every visit, once was almost 2 hours. Dr always seemed rushed and after all the waiting most visits were less than 10 minutes. Front desk staff ignore you and act like you're interrupting them. Dr G seemed very incompetent removing a bump near my eye. It made me very nervous because he seemed unprepared and unprofessional asking his assistant to go get scissors and something to stitch it up with in the middle of the procedure. He sent it for biopsy and after at least 4 calls for result of biopsy and them promising someone would call me back I'm still waiting. read more

The staff and management in the Durango office is beyond incompetent and rude. It is beyond me why qualified doctors would tolerate such ineptness when their practice should depend on efficiency, and professional behavior. A woman named Jessica tops the list, then it trickles down to others. Would highly recommend avoiding SW Eye, if you have a choice. read more

My wife and I have been going to Southwest Eye Consultants for the last three (3) years and I've been extremely impressed with the quality of care and the friendliness of the staff. I recently had an "eye emergency" on a Friday afternoon. To my amazement, they told me to come in immediately. The receptionist (don't recall her name) was extremely helpful and friendly. They got me in quickly a d the doctor did a thorough examination. I highly recommend Southwest Eye Consultants. Also, we've never had an issue with billing or scheduling. read more

I am now feeling like I'm in a rabbit hole with this company. They have been billing me for an appointment that I did not have and I was told that it would be taken care of. I just got another bill and when I tried to call the phone disconnected four times. They're not only charging me they're charging my insurance company which of course passes it on to all of us. The lady I spoke to about this seems so nice but I am beyond frustrated. The doctor was chronically late, even 8:30 morning appointments he was half an hour late. He was inattentive and now I'm being charged for an appointment that I wasn't there for because I had to leave after an hour and 20 minute wait. read more

I pray for the employees of Southwest Eye Consultants! Sitting with my mom waiting for an appointment I had to hear this terrible person who calls her self a "boss" talk horribly about her employees! As there were multiple employees that were being talked about by these managers but one employee they talked about stuck out to me. I felt like I was listening to teenage bullies. I sat there for 30 minutes listening along with 8 other patients. Before we were called into a room I asked this lady her name while her and the gentleman she was talking to walked down the hall. She was so proud to tell me that her name was Jessica and that she was the head manager of all three clinics and then said that the gentleman standing with her was the clinical manager Shane. We listened to a rude conversation about a employee named Halie and in this conversation we learned that Halie thinks she is a know it and needs to just go away so Jessica can run "her clinics" the was she wants to. We also learned that Halie will never go away because she is protected and is Dr. Fenbergs favorite. We listened to this Jessica complain because all of the "cry baby" employees go to Halie about everything and she is done with it. Now she wants to start getting rid of employees that use Halie a a resource. This was by far the most disappointing form of management I have ever witnessed and the owners of Southwest Eye Consultants should be ashamed that they are allowing their management to treat their employees so poorly. Needless to say I will not be bringing my mother back to this clinic! read more

Beware if you are paying cash and don't have insurance. The price for services was agreed before conducting.I paid cash in full before leaving office they were reluctant to give me a receipt and looked like they had not seen US currency before. they eventually wrote one. About 6 weeks later i got a bill for about 5 times what we had agreed upon and no mention of the cash payment in full. I contacted them they blamed the mistake on there new accountant. I have been receiving constant harassing letters in an attempt to extort more money from me which is aggravating my severe hypertension which is the primary cause of my failing vision. I am so disappointed that I may have to Sue for damages. read more
