This is not about the dermatology side of the business--doctors are great. I had a consultation with the aesthetics team for facial rejuvenation (laser, etc.) and for the $50 consultation fee, I was told that my skin was beyond hope and they didn't have anything for me. She then started pulling on my skin and saying that it was saggy and loose and nothing they had would work. She also mentioned that 50 is the optimal age to have things done (I'm older of course) when skin is "healthy.". Talk about a downer day! read more

Had IPL and vein lazer removal done. The aesthetician said that the lazer machine wasn't functioning properly. I had all the pain with no results. After going home and letting it heal, I told them it didn't work at all. They asked me to come back so I did. The aesthetician was mad and acted all pissy because she had to try and redo my face. They turned the lazer up to much and all it did was scar my face. I then went to About face aesthetics in Cortez and they fixed me. The office also overbooks clients and they always have to wait at least 30 minutes. I waited over an hour for a dermatologist. I don't recommend Durango Dermatology. read more

I have been going to Durango Dermatology for over 30 years. They are the best. I just had a procedure to remove a couple of basal spots. One via regular excision and the other ly Mohs. Dr Gaughan did the Mohs surgery and as always was excellent. HIs approach to his work is always friendly and ready to answer questions. His touch is consistently gentle and quick. HIs two nurses that helped were excellent as well. Jess sutured the long cut perfectly and being ing my forehead I appreciate her ability. The incision was along a normal wrinkle line and already the suture is disappearing. Her friendly approach and warmth made the procedure much more pleasant. Excellent care and directions of what to do at home were right on. When I returned to have the sutures out, Nurse Jamie did the work. Another excellent health professional and it was perfectly done. The staff at the clinic are the best. Period. If you need a Dermatologist, this is the practice to call. read more

I have been visiting Durango for years and have gone to Durango Dermatology on and off over the years. I find the staff /Robin very knowledgeable and Dr. Mark kind and excellent! Not many people would want to see a dermatologist while on vacation, but when you find a good doctor who you trust, it's worth it for me to carve out time and see him. Highly recommend! read more

When I made the appointment I specifically asked for their best Doctor for women's hair loss. When the Dr entered the room the first thing he says is, "I'm not the Doctor you want to see for women's hair loss". I should have just walked out. But, I had paid my co pay and waited a long time to get in. After going over my 3 year history with him he asks if I have heard of Biotin? That was the best he had. He also mentioned that I should go see his ex girlfriend who runs a hair loss clinic in Denver. It would have been much more helpful to suggest another doctor in his own clinic. The one I was standing in. He didn't touch my scalp at all. I had to ask him to examine my scalp. He literally looked without examining it at all and said, "Yeah you've got hair growing". He didn't even touch it or look closely for inflammation or anything that a dermatologist could possibly be of help with. It was a very odd visit, waste of money and time. He came in the room with the attitude that he couldn't help me and he didn't. read more

I don't remember the doctor's name, but i do remember that I had a late afternoon appointment and that his casual and very short inspection of all my moles and blemishes was cursory and none appeared to be worthy of a closer look, if only to validate their potential for medical concerns. I don't think it took more than 5 minutes. He was a nice enough fellow, but I got the feeling that I was just another old man with life's bumps, bruises. $93 bucks for a 5-minute visit financially looks like about like 12 five minute visits per hour x92.99=$1115.88 per hour. Darn good pay, especially if you don't have to worry about how the patient feels or perceives the value of his visit or his health condition. He only took enough time to look at my upper body, nothing below the belt. I kind of liked that, but it did not feel like a comprehensive evaluation of my dermatological risks. I think Durango Dermatology is really only most interested in aesthetic opportunity and less about patient medical well-being. I get the feeling that many of the health care professionals are only here to earn a great living while enjoying Colorado lifestyle as they perceive it to be. Would be nice if I felt that the medical staff actually cared. Silly me and old-fashioned values. read more

Just got off the phone to make an appointment. Woman I spoke to at the front desk was absolutely horrible to speak to. She continued to speak over me and showed judgment when finding out my insurance was Medicaid. As a college student and being in my 20s, I don't know how I could afford medical insurance anyway. As for this office, I canceled my appointment immediately after her speaking over me again, (roughly 10 times through all my questions) and would rather go ANYWHERE else than this place due to the disrespect this woman showed me. They clearly care more about the money than the patient and this woman at the front desk clearly needs training on costumer care because she was awful. read more

Regrettably, I leave very unsatisfactory review of Dr. Pogue. I have been a patient of hers for several years. With a recent outbreak of lupus rash, I called Dr. Pogue's office for an RX refill. I was told I needed to make an appointment, with the next one being available 60+ days out. So, I'm expected to suffer with this rash for that long. That is not my idea of a caring doctor. And I certainly don't make a habit of asking for prescriptions. read more

My husband went in to have a cyst removed. All went well. They said they would call with the results in two days. Two days passed and no calls. My husband called and using the automated voice system pressed the number for results. Left a message and no one called back, Did the same thing a day or two later and no call back. I called and pressed the number to talk with someone at the desk. After letting it ring numerous times, a live person answered. Miracle. This person was nice but went on about losing a doctor, etc. Sounds like a poorly managed environment there. Will wait and see if anyone calls back. Meanwhile there is an appointment, but no one has called to confirm. Getting results on growths, etc. is stressful. You would think this business would understand that and make every effort to minimize the experience by calling and decreasing patient's worry and concern. read more

I live out of state, in New Mexico, so if I had to drive all the way here then the experience better be worth it. And it was! The waiting room was really nice, they had plenty of magazines and toys for kids, plus a fish tank. The receptionists were all really nice. As soon as I finished my paperwork I was seen almost immediately. I saw Dr. Wickless first, he was nice and informative and explained everything well, and made sure I understood everything. He didn't do a particular procedure I was trying to do, but he took the time to get the Dr. that did do what I needed to come into my room and talk to me about it. They did the insurance paperwork right in front of me before sending it off that day, which made me feel a lot better because my last dermatologist didn't do that. Overall I had a great experience and am excited to come back! read more

I came to Durango Dermatology after having unsuccessful Botox injections from other offices. I got tired of having to go back in for touch ups and paying for them!! It's been a different experience at Durango Dermatology. Robyn is absolutely amazing! She takes the time to make sure I am knowledgeable about the whole process and addresses all my concerns. Im Not sure I ever had a more uncomfortable appointment in a dr's office before. I had filler placed under my eyes and was not happy with how It looked a few weeks after. I spent a considerable amount and couldn't tell I had anything done. After expressing my concerns I was told that it was my body that didn't absorb it right and she never had seen my result happen before and nothing could be done. I really was hoping to be helped a little more and not made to feel like I was foolish for wanting my money back. I was offered a fraction of what I paid back in services only. Had the worst medical appointment of my life with Haley Frazier at Durango Dermatology. After two days I am still not sure how it went so far south so quickly. I immediately wanted to walk out, but being nearly naked on an exam table prohibited that. Her rude and condescending manner was horrible. My concerns were immediately dismissed in a 3 second assessment as "genetic". I felt as tho I was wasting her time. It was difficult to ask questions. I asked for removal of some nuisance moles. She used the liquid nitrogen gun like an assault weapon. It was brutal. Her very kind assistant asked me several times after if I was OK. I have visited this medical practice numerous times over many years. Both Dr. Gaughans (father & son) have a level of care that is 2ndto none. They are the gold standard. To have an encounter at the office as I had after many other very positive experiences is very disheartening, I am sad they employ her. My advice if you go there: protect yourself and avoid seeing Haley Frazier. read more

Update: Dr. Gaughan called me personally and we talked about my experience and I've decided to change my review. I really appreciate his professionalism and his commitment to his patients. He assured me that this isn't the norm for his office and he apologized! Wow, amazing! Thank you Dr. Gaughan! I have been coming to Dr. Gaughan's office for years and always been please but things are radically different this visit. I came early (my bad) and then proceeded to wait an additional 60 mins after my scheduled appointment. I was put in a room for another 10 mins and finally I told them I had to leave because I had another appointment. Only then did the doctor come in apologizing up and down about a difficult patient before (I totally get it but not an hour and ten minutes!). Wow. He took a biopsy and the office confirmed they would call me with the results. Well, I received the bill...no call, so I called them. I was put to voicemail and waited several more days without a call back. Called again, still waiting! Really?!? This is how you do business? Again, flabbergasted. I won't be going back to this office and I hope everyone thinks twice about spending their good money and valuable time at an office that clearly doesn't value me as a patient and customer. Disheartening! I went in for a rash that I had been having for 3 months. At first it didnt itch then my skindeveloped a sensivitly to touch. I was told that it was hives, and I needed to take an allergy pill during the day and benadryl, when I asked if there was any thing Else i could do the doctor told me hives are complicated! I talked to the nurse at my school. She recommended and alergy specialist, I am now at 4 months of getting hives all over my body every day. I needed a referal. I call durango dermatology back, and the doctor would not give me a refurral, he told me to get one from my primary care physican I explained I did not have one, and just needed a little help to get to the root of this problem. I was told that the nurse was trying to help me with this, then I never heard back from them. And so now I am left with paying another doctor fee the get a reference, so thay someone can help me figure out what is going on! Are you for real! This is just down right mean. read more
