The Dealer refused to fix the problem, but Dearholt fixed it and made it affordable for me. I wouldn't ever go anywhere else!

I called Brown's Automotive Experts and spoke with a man named Chris (at the 6401 Signal Ave NE / Far Northeast Heights location). Chris mentioned he has four daughters of his own and assured me he would "take care of her." That reassurance meant a lot in the moment. He called back with the diagnosis: one cracked spark plug causing the misfire. He then immediately recommended replacing all spark plugs plus a fuel-injection service--totaling $1,800. I asked for the price to replace just the spark plugs; he quoted $1,300. I explained we couldn't afford that and requested they replace only the one cracked plug so she could safely reach school and we could plan the rest later. Chris refused. The shop would not do a single spark-plug replacement. It was pay $1,300 for the full set or just the diagnostic fee--and they'd send her back on the road with the flashing light and misfire still active. They were ready to release a teenage driver with a known engine issue rather than perform the minimal, diagnosed repair. This felt like blatant upselling that took advantage of her vulnerability and my concern as a parent 150+ miles away. I've never posted a review this strongly, but I won't stay silent when a business exploits a young woman's roadside emergency to push unnecessary $1,300-$1,800 services. The hourly rate is a little pricey but well-worth it compared to dealerships. And also worth the money for the professionalism and skills they have on staff. Fortunately, I called Anytime and Kit answered. I was told to bring it in although they were booked because it was urgent to get me on the road again. Well, after many mechanics have worked on the Jeep, the diagnosis of these problems concerning fuel system management has confounded many of them. I gave a little bit of history of the Jeep. And Matt went to work in between the regular scheduled work. Matt was professional, kind, understanding and thorough. He explained how he would approach the problem after listening to the history of repairs that I could remember. He used a reasonably advanced OBD2 diagnosis tool. Every time they started the SUV, it gassed them out of the shop. But they nailed down the problem after systematic logical diagnosis. There were 2 fuel injectors stuck wide open and dumping fuel into the cylinders. Fuel was dripping, splattering out my exhaust, totally dangerous! They ordered the parts (took the most time, not their fault) and fixed it swiftly. I appreciate Matt's logical approach solving this mystery. I was told, by other mechanics, it was the MAP sensor, O2 sensors, plugged catalytic converters, bad fuel pump, bad fuel filter. One mechanic at Sonny's Straight A's shop said he wasn't even willing to try to work on it and just to check the fuel rail pressure myself. I would definitely recommend working with Matt at this shop. I didn't run into any of the negative experiences that I saw on Yelp.

Dealerships in the past could tell me I needed a new go pedal and flying lemur to make my tires move and I would have left not only purchasing both but with absolutely no further understanding. At Dan's, their lead technician Jarrod broke everything down Barney style with more patience than I deserved. I didn't feel stupid about asking questions and he explained to me the WHY!! Also, no ridiculous up-selling. He told me about things I'll need later on but does not leave me in any immediate dangerous driving conditions. Key point here - I actually got to speak with the guy who worked on my vehicle, my car runs better than ever before, AND I'm more knowledgeable because of it all.
