Upon arrival, I was surprised by how small and cozy the airport was. It was extremely easy to navigate through. The baggage claim area + car rental counters were readily available downstairs and the rental center was located directly across the street. The walking distance was relatively short, which I highly appreciated. This airport is the hub for airlines such as American Airlines, Southwest Airlines, Delta Airlines, and United Airlines. I traveled here using United Airlines via the commuter plane, which was actually the smallest airplane I've been on - "CommuteAir." I returned to this airport to fly home to California on Tuesday, 06/09/26. I had such a positive experience with the TSA line as it took under 5 minutes to get through. I must say it was the shortest TSA line that I've ever encountered in life so far, which was beyond convenient. The airport dining & shops included Samuel Adams / Riverbanks Bar & Grill, Dunkin', Pearl River Marketplace and Hudson. I had visited Hudson on 06/09/26, which was a convenience store filled with snacks, travel essentials, apparel, and so much more. I grabbed coffee and an Evian water bottle. The aesthetic of the airport was inviting. The restrooms were well-maintained and clean. All of the airport staff members were kind. Overall, Jackson-Medgar Wiley Evers International Airport - JAN is such a lovely airport. Exploring around Mississippi by being surrounded by hospitable people and having access to delicious food were the highlights of the trip. I would be more than happy to visit Mississippi at some point again in the future.

While it was easy to get in and out of what was their security line, the challenge is that once inside, there really aren't any food options so plan ahead. Another challenge leaving is that you'll have to wait a long time for an uber. There weren't many other people waiting but it did take about 15 minutes for a car to be available. Just be prepared to move a little more slowly here.

They recognized this ahead of boarding and moved my seat to first class. The only down side to the move was that it separated my wife and I who were flying together. I planned a trip for 12 people to travel to Turks & Caicos for my birthday. 3days before they emailed and offer to change the flight at no additional cost if we wanted. I said no. The day of my trip two hours before the flight they cancelled the flight and put us on a flight that didn't leave until the day after the original flight, instead of putting us on the flight that left out 2 hours prior to our original flight. I lost money on the Airbnb, the chef, excursions and they didn't offer any compensation. I went back and forth through emails because it's impossible to get agents on the phone and they then offered 1 person not even myself, the one they were going back and forth with 5000 point which is equivalent to nothing and 1 $50 voucher which they never sent. When I reached back out to speak to a manager I was told I was already compensated and they wouldn't be compensating me anything other than the 5000 points. They refuse to escalate this to a manger and this has been going back and forth since September of 2024. Over the weekend I unfortunately utilized this service again and the booked a connection flight we landed at 7:20am in Dallas and the connecting flight was boarding at 7:25am. We had to run through the airport and take the tram as well to get through our flight before it took off. I am not sure whom I need to speak to but I will continue to let it be known of the poor service that American Airlines offers along with poor planning and lack of customer service!

What a great hotel that is located in a perfect location for shopping and dining. There's also a really great lobby where you can watch the big screen tv, or enjoy yourself at the bar area. The best thing about Courtyard was the customer service. The rooms were clean and a good size. Loved that they had a refrigerator and microwave. I exercised both days I was there and was the only person in there, which was nice. I wish they would turn the machines to face the tv though. Almost all gyms have the machines facing the tv so you can watch it while exercising. The outdoor area and pool were nice. Apparently they have a free continental breakfast, but told us that was not available given the holiday, which was disappointing. The prices were decent. I would definitely return.
