**This review is for SWA in general.** Honestly, tend to get upset when my wife plans our trips on Southwest Airlines -- only because it usually means we have an extra stop or two. Still, my experience on this airline has mostly been phenomenal. Except for one dude who recently asked my 80-something-year-old dad "Is it an emergency?" when he was going to the restroom on our decent, I have never experienced anything negative here. I believe that is a training issue, and I let the kid know on the way out that he needed to do better. (His response: "I'm just doing my job." My response: "There's an elderly man going to the bathroom and you want to know whether it is an emergency? Does the guy need to wet his pants? Further, are you saying that I can get up during a decent so long as I classify it as an 'emergency?'" At that point, a co-worker politely jumped in and said "He's doing his job, Sir." Shame on me for emphasizing a recent negative, when the majority of my travels have been extremely positive. This is a fine airline. read more

During Southwest's change to assigned seating, their algorithm is all messed up. We flew as a couple and it kept giving us boarding positions where only single seats were left. The first leg we couldn't sit together, and they extorted $99 for us to sit together on the second leg of the flight. I get if I'd booked a crappy Airline like Spirit, but I expected better of Southwest. Because of this, I'll pay more for United or American Airlines after this trip. One agent on the flight back did assist us in sitting together, so there's one good guy at DTW airport! read more

Very disappointed in Southwest Airlines. First time using them to go from Baltimore to Detroit. Unlike other airlines they will not allow your wheelchair on the plane. They lost the seat cushion but refuse to take any responsibility for it. You cannot talk to someone on the phone other than a person working from home with limited authority. They will not give you a number to speak to someone that is a supervisor. They told me to contact Detroit baggage because that is where the cushion would be but Detroit baggage said it would be in Baltimore. No one to escalate the problem to. The airline is definitely only interested in AVERAGE PEOPLE and have no desire wo welcome DISABLED PASSENGERS aboard their flights. If you have a disability I strongly recommend you choose a different airline. Also, if you care about human rights for the disabled, please consider another airline. In the case of Baltimore-Detroit, Delta has always placed my wheelchair onboard in the closet and always made sure the chair was undamaged. They treat the disabled with love and value them. Why then cannot the airline with the heart logo share in this type of treatment? read more

The free for all seat arraignments!!! The jam back plane with little to know room to even wiggle on a 4 hour flight!! Never again until they come up with us picking our seats. Southwest is my go to airline. Mainly because of the two free bags. I am usually traveling to see family and am taking a lot with, or bringing a lot home. So for that reason alone, I will take Southwest. I just flew to Florida a few weeks ago. My only complaint is that Southwest employees, especially on the airplane, used to be super fun and nice. And lately they aren't that way. Having said that, in this current environment, I would not want to have to deal with the general public. So Southwest is still my favorite airline! read more

I fly with Southwest Airlines as they're so good with pets and service animals, I have a medical service dog for my fainting condition and they were so respect to her, they asked if they could interact with her and asked what they could do in case of an episode, it was my girls first flight and they even offered her water and took pictures with her(with permission) , I love this airline and will most likely stick with them! read more

After an unnecessary and excessive flight delay, I have sent multiple emails and completed multiple forms regarding the poor experience and I have received nothing but non-responsive form letters asking for more forms to be completed. Once submitted, they send the same form letter and ask for the same forms again. After three submissions, It seems like an intentional technique to avoid providing actual customer service. It is a beyond poor experience and a huge waste of time to try and seek customer service from Southwest. Shame on them ! Absolutely pathetic . Southwest has been one of my two go to providers for flight travel for some time now. Southwest is one of the only flight travel providers that still allows TWO checked bags, one carry on and a personal item with the purchase of each reasonably priced tickets. My parents were displaced from original flight 2OV5FG for over 48 hours. Instead of leaving December 29th, they could not leave until December 31st. This resulted in extra hotel & travel costs. I contacted southwest April 18th, 2023 because I heard there was rewards points offered to anyone who was displaced by Southwest. The representative I spoke to told me that $600 worth of points ($300 per person) was sent via email by Southwest. I was told that these points never expire. Because of this conversation, I did not contact my parent's credit card company to get their flights refunded. I went to book a Southwest flight & entered the email code. It wasn't until then that I realized the Southwest rep had misinformed me that the $600 did expire March 31st, 2023. This was before I ever called Southwest. I called the company in September 2023. The representative directed me to email the company. Southwest emailed me 09/23/23 and responded that my parent's points had expired & there is nothing they can do. I am asking for the $600 in flight credits be honored by Southwest as I was originally told they would be. If not, I am reporting SW to the Better Business Bureau. read more

I fly Southwest whenever my itinerary allows and they rarely disappoint. Expect professional staff, on time departures and consistently awesome email communication for check-ins. My trip in and out of Cleveland had no hitches. Both flights were full. Southwest now allows a second bag for FREE, so take advantage. The staff was fantastic and no issues with arriving or departing close to times posted. Yeah I'm a bit of a super Southwest fan I know. But the praise in my opinion is worth sharing with others. They are more often better than others in all facets of air travel, end of story. read more

This airline is consistently late with take offs! In November 2021 there was a flat tire which resulted in a 4 hour wait on a direct flight out of Detroit to Houston. On 5-19-22 the connecting flight in Chicago to Atlanta was delayed one over an hour (no available co pilot) resulting in the flight arriving after the train to baggage claim had stopped running. NO CARTS WERE AVAILABLE FOR SENIORS!!!! On the return connecting flight from Chicago to Detroit originating in Atlanta, the full to capacity flight was over an hour late (passengers sitting in the plane) due to only one baggage handler to load luggage. When I tried to contact customer service they claimed they couldn't find my confirmation numbers and suggested calling. When I tried calling they referred me to the website. The flights are called Wanna Get Away, the only thing I Wanna Get Away from is Southwest Airlines!!!!! read more

Natasha and Valerie at gate B10 at Cleveland airport around 6:10 am on 9/18/18 I approached the gate to receive my preboarding pass bc of my emotional support and service dogs . They were rude. They talked about me as if i wasn't standing there. They questioned me about my animals. They have no right to question or make me feel like my health issues or trauma is not relevant. It was absolutely disgusting and not like any of the service i have ever received flying on southwest. I fly constantly all year round with them. I'm not sure if I'm reviewing the entire airline company or the Southwest gate in Cleveland, but either way, both are pretty friggin great. Southwest's staff is *always* friendly across the board from the gate agents to the flight crew. They'll sing at you, give you extra peanuts and probably hug you if you ask them to and maybe even if you don't. Cheap flights, great deals and they fly pretty much everywhere. Then we have the Southwest gate at Cleveland International, with its TONS of outlets (and platforms with USB outlets), lots of space and even though it's at the very end of the terminal, there are lots of food and beverage options on the way. read more

When flying out of Cleveland, I am more likely to take Southwest than any other airline. They tend to have flight schedules that work for me, and the prices are usually lower than the other airlines, especially if I need to check a bag. Their gates also have plenty of seating. Even when the area is crowded, there usually aren't people sitting on the floor. I think they did a better job of explaining their boarding process during my most recent trip than they did in the past. It can be confusing for new customers who are accustomed to having assigned seats, but I think they do a good job making sure people understand what to do and when to do it. Make sure you ask for a paper airplane from your flight crew. They are super (cheap, light, flat) souvenirs for your kids! read more

We just come back from Las Vegas and flew with Southwest Airlines. I don't understand why people complain about Southwest, we've never had a problem going to Vegas and returning from Vegas. Cleveland Hopkins Southwest Airlines Terminal clerk (terminal b11/b9 female with glasses) and floor manager (female) at around 5:00 pm on 8/10/2018 were the rudest Southwest Airline employees I've ever dealt with. I asked a simple question regarding their policy due to inconsistency between Southwest Airport terminals and I got the most sarcastic response and unprofessional service. I've never in my life been treated that way before by a Terminal Agent who happened to be accompanied by her floor manager. In fact, the floor manager provoked her actions and did nothing but simply look at me and stared. I hope that someone above their management level sees this message. Ive already reached out to a cooperate level about this. Please be aware if this type of treatment and unprofessionalism to customers. read more

I've flown out if southwest B terminal many times while I've been in Cleveland. This b terminal that southwest holds is the bulb at the end, with 4 gates here. There is ample seating, enough that you don't need to sit on the ground and there's a row of their comfier chairs...a nice touch throughout all the southwest terminals. There are numerous outlet plugs available and you'll get the usual southwest friendliness here. There's a Quaker State and Lube serving food and drinks just next to the southwest terminal, and further back into the main portion of the airport is a small but decent food court. read more

Fantastic airline! I recently went on a trip to a convention and on our way back home our groups ( 2 groups wIth us) flights had both been canceled. Southwest graciously came in and offered us a direct flight home that both of our groups could be on together. Flight was super smooth, pilot and attendants were also very nice. Well they say ppl make the company. So true. They canned my flight due to bad weather and sent me an email about it. With a phone number that within 10 seconds I had a live person. Go figure. New flight-hello Chicago and home 20 minutes later if all works out. I post this because 4 weeks ago I spent two hours on hold for delta, then another two waiting for their call back service, and had a complete nightmare because they cancelled my flight due to number of ppl on plane, not weather or mechanics. If I could give them a negative, I would. I will look for as many platforms to post this review as possible. I had an issue with my boarding position on my flight cross country. As a result, the southwest rep said she would refund the amount I paid for my early bird boarding position for my return flight, BUT, assured me my early bird boarding would still be valid. I checked in online and found she had actually deleted my early bird purchase and as a result, I got a horrible boarding position. (Which means middle seat while flying all day) I called the airline and after an hour on the phone was told they could only help me if I had purchased the "anytime" ticket (which cost a few hundred dollars more) instead of the "wanna get away". So basically, they only care if you spend more money. This is unacceptable. I flew internationally about a year ago with a different airline, and after running into a seating issue, they found a creative way to fix the problem and satisfy the customer. Southwest may pride themselves on bargain prices, but the cost shouldn't be bargain service if you ever run into a problem. And when anyone is flying, spending $500 plus, you should be able to count the company to care about its customers. read more

I know southwest sometimes gets a bad wrap for the cattle call boarding procedures, but I actually must give cudos for several reasons. There is no checked bag fee, their phone app is pretty slick, they rarely are not on time, and they actually provide snacks and drinks on the flights. More importantly, I recently forgot to grab a bag under my seat on the plane and as I was leaving security in Columbus, OH I got a call on my cell phone that they would be meeting me at the luggage office to give me my bag. I didnt have a tag or phone number on it. So it obviously took a little extra effort to is the bag and look up my number to call. It would have been a real bummer to have lost it, as my iPad was in it. So kudos to southwest for being efficient, friendly, non-nickle and dimey, and caring about their passenger's belongings! read more

For the sake of this, I'm reviewing the southwest coming out of Cleveland. I typically fly southwest beause of the prices and I've never had any major issues flying them. In CLE, SWA is in the B terminal. Plenty of outlets available, close to food and for the most part, flights leave on time. the past 2-3 times, flights have been delayed coming from somwhere else to CLE, so I blame my late flights on the airport prior. I just wish they would add in free wi-fi to the flights every once and awhile as opposed to free dish TV read more

They have become the best airline to fly out of Cleveland now that Continental is gone. The best service. On-time service. Pleasant flight attendants that know how to lighten the mood. Great assistance to people with disabilities. Prices are a bit higher than competition at first look, but when you figure in luggage fees those differences go away. My biggest complaint, that kept them from getting 5 stars is their lack of direct flights from Cleveland. I miss the Orlando and Phoenix direct flights. read more

I have flown with Southwest several times over the last year. The only time they have been late has been weather related. The staff has been very friendly and I would recommend this airline over any of the others I have flown. The price is great, the way they do the seating is also a plus. SOUTHWEST LEFT US STRANDED------ Our direct flight #2993 Cleveland to Las Vegas was canceled Dec.29th. However, all the other Cleveland to Las Vegas Flights went out. I'm upset because, we could not be put on another flight until Jan 2. That was the day we were to return home. I realize things happen, sometimes there are delays or other issues. This is the first time, in my life, that a trip had to be completely canceled because, an airline couldn't put them on another flight for 5 days. We were meeting friends from Columbus flying Southwest in Vegas. We also didn't receive email notification until, we were at the airport, maybe a switch could have been handled earlier if, we were notified earlier.
