For a little context, I've been flying with this company for almost 20 years and have been a Rapid Rewards card member since 2013. I can't believe how I've been watching this company go down the drain over the past couple years. I'm a larger customer, over 6 feet tall and over three hundred pounds, and over the past two years it's been harped on by the staff more and more, I've watched them try and nickel and dime their customers, jack up the prices, and over all they're turning into the same kind of crap I've avoided with every other airline out there. I regularly take this same flight to go visit my home town, and a flight that used to cost about $250 on a bad day with A1-A15 boarding round trip is now going to cost double that BEFORE they try and say I have to pay for an extra seat that "Might" get refunded if the plane doesn't fill up. Mind you, I tend to sit near the mid/back of the plane anyway because I know it's not ideal to sit right next to me anyway and I pick an edge seat knowing my knees will be bashing into everything. So, why am I writing this now? Because it's getting worse, and it's about to make me cancel the card I've had for years and just go with a competitor, because there's NO value with Southwest anymore. My card member rewards are downgraded as of this year, my flight is costing me more just to get there, I'm being hounded to buy a second seat and they "Might refund it" I Really, truly hope whatever insanity has taken over this company gets washed out in the coming months. I'd love to keep giving them my money, but American at least doesn't pretend they care about me as a customer. And by the way, Yes, my ass DOES fit in the seat. read more

Information about flights were updated regularly. Boarding went smoothly. I really like that Southwest scans tickets for us, rather than having us do it ourselves (speeds things up). Jetways were clean. This Amarillo Southwest location is a good one. read more

Tickets are affordable and they have expanded their destinations flight attendants are friendly just be prepared this is not a fancy airline they do have limited snacks and entertainment however the value of what you get versus what you pay for is good read more

I am flying out to Atlanta GA to visit family. Bobby was able to upgrade me to a earlier flight out of Amarillo and I am the first standby out of Dallas to Atlanta. I can save about 4 hours. I love Southwest Airlines until my flight is full, then, not so much. I am usually 1 of the 1st to board, but I head straight to the back, hoping I will not have anyone in the seat next to me. They always give you iced beverages, no matter how short the flight. They also have pretzels and peanuts no matter how short the flight. They give free adult beverages when you have to fly on a holiday and for business elite passengers. Their attendants are typically funny while doing their announcements. It is easy to earn points for future flights. I like how the app reminds me to check in. read more

I'm here flying during the coronavirus I'm at Amarillo Airport my bag is over by 9 pounds so I need to pay $75. I have a credit now on my account of $104 that should apply to any flight or anything that I need to do with the company but no they will not except it at this time they cannot do anything with that money. So I'm forced to pay out of pocket $75 which I do not have at this time. I'm also a rapid reward member for 25 years plus so much that does for you!!!!! Just announced that there will be no drinks at all serve on the flight and you better get a canna water here. What's the difference in me opening a can of water here or can of water on the plane????? No discounts on the airfare now either and there getting the big bail out! Huh!!!!!! read more

southwest cancled two of our flights and left us stranded in Amarillo for 2 days. All their flights were so late that we could not make our connection ing flights. Finally had to just buy tickets from United Air for so we could get home. We cannot get reimbursed. Don't be fooled by Southwests attractive prices. You get what you pay for. read more

I fly Southwest Airlines a lot, yet the terminal employees at Rick Husband Amarillo airport are by far my favorite. They were very helpful getting our family of 5 though Security and on to the plane as my mom had a broken toe and needed assistance. Thank you Southwest! read more
